  • Cute and comfortable! They also provided a nice list of take out in the area, super helpful!

  • Cozy Airbnb and convenient location to Skyline Drive, Front Royal and the Shenandoah’s. Stayed for a weekend trip with my sister and we had an amazing time. Izzy was really communicative and very helpful. Highly recommend and the pool during the summer is an added amenity that we enjoyed.

    Natalia2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Space was great. French Country meets Traditional Appalachian with an artful touch. Clean with well-maintained grounds. Pool was still swimmable in late September (cool but not cold). Firepit was sizable and very enjoyable. Check-in was easy, and communication was Izzy was prompt.

Secluded neighborhood with house directly on the Shenandoah river. Private quarters with amazing views from your own deck and sun room. Long dirt road to access property. Cattle likely grazing throughout the road in.
The Shenandoah river is visible and easily accessible right from the door.
Mostly residents in the area because of the secluded back road to get here. It’s a peaceful getaway.
  • Justin offers a spacious and comfortable area for his visitors. We brought our 6-month old puppy, who loved the enclosed yard.

    Katie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great clean and comfortable spot with a beautiful view of the river and ample space for our dog to roam. Would definitely stay again!

    Jonathan2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Except for the bad way into the village, everything else is good.

    Shijia2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • A stylish unique place that offers great views of the river. Peaceful and quiet. Justin was quick to respond to my inquiries throughout our stay. Loved having coffee/tea down by the water. Best thing...pet friendly! My dogs thoroughly enjoyed exploring a new place and the nature surroundings.

    Jamie2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • A great place especially for those with 4 legged traveling companions. Our two girls loved the large fenced yard and sniffed every inch of it. The second floor unit is quite large with a big living room and 47 inch tv and great views of the river. Nice size main bedroom and the queen sized bed is comfortable. Bathroom is dated but clean.

    Richard2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, just as described. We really enjoyed our time in Front Royal and Shenandoah National Park. Thanks for hosting us, Justin.

    Carolin2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Justin's place was well maintained!! He did mention that it doesnt come with a kitchen and a wifi which we missed. If you want to spend time peacefully without mobile, wifi , by the river thats the best place. He do have microwave and a good fridge which would really help a lot!! Though he mentioned he didnt have a kitchen he helped us with a electric stove as we had babies with us. He was very helpful!!

Cozy home in beautiful Front Royal 1.5 miles from the entrance of the Shenandoah National Park.
Guests can use kitchen, living room, washer and dryer and deck. These areas are shared with us when we are home.
The neighborhood is residential couple miles from downtown area and Shenandoah National Park
  • Hala was a wonderful host! She was quick to respond to messages, extraordinarily friendly, and the location of her place was perfect for access to Shenandoah. I had a wonderful nights stay here and would certainly come back again!

    Brittany2019-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Hala’s property was impeccably maintained and exceeded our expectations. We are so thankful for her hospitality and she made our stay feel like home. Highly recommended!

  • We had a delightful stay at Hala's. She is very accomadating and engaging. Her home is lovely and in a nice neighborhood. We would stay here again!!

    Cindy2018-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Quite a big space, and so clean! Warm and cozy, and Hala is very hospitable. Would definitely return. Proximity to Shenandoah National Park at this rate is a steal. And Happy Creek Coffee in Front Royal was also a happy find.

    Ashley2018-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place with thoughtful touches, would definitely recommend and visit again!

    Aakruti2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • By far the best airbnb I have stayed at and it is hard to imagine a better one. The house was so pleasant I wished it were my home. It is clean and stylish and located in a very nice neighborhood. Proximity to Shenandoah is a plus. I didn’t get a chance to meet Hala but she made everything easy for me. Stay here if you are around!

    Junsoo2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Lalas place. It was cozy and clean, but the best thing with this stay was the host. Lala is fun and very helpful. She even drove us to and picked us up at the Shenandoah Park entrence after a day of hiking. It was a fantastic help due to the fact that we didnt had a car during our stay in Front Royal.

    Anton2019-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Hala was very warm & welcoming. Her place was inviting & comfortable. Little touches here and there made it a pleasant stay.

Situated in the heart of Front Royal, the house is only minutes away from wineries, Skyline Drive, & the famous Shenandoah National Park and the Shenandoah River for fishing or floating. We are located one block off of Historic Main Street and downtown, within walking distance of antique stores, shopping, coffee shops and a movie theater. At the end of the day, relax on the wrap-around porch! My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, or groups of all sizes!
The space is decorated in classic Victorian style to fit the charm and age of the home. All rooms have wide solid oak trim, gorgeous wainscoting and an abundance of architectural details appropriate to the home's era. Enjoy a bath in the vintage clawfoot tub! However, It has been updated with modern amenities, including a stunning gourmet fully furnished eat-in kitchen, large formal dining room, beautiful large yard, rear deck for grilling and wrap around covered porch for relaxing. We are only one block from historic downtown!!
Between locally owned Happy Creek Coffee shop and dining options, you are within walking distance to the town. Also, take a stroll through the neighborhood for wonderful evening walks after dinner.
  • Beautiful, fun place to stay VERY close to downtown - great to walk to restaurants, shops, etc. House is big and sprawling, fun to explore. Newly redone kitchen was very well-stocked with utensils, dishes, coffee makings! There is only one shower, so a group staying there needs to schedule accordingly.

  • Great place. 2nd time staying with kelley and cant say enough good things. Dont hesitate, just book it. You wont regret it!

    Adam2016-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home, great location.

    Henry2016-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very stately and very beautiful home, right in the middle of downtown Front Royal (but on a quiet street). Unbelievably high ceilings, big yard, big porch. Close to shops and restaurants. Minutes from Skyline Drive. It is much bigger than the description makes it seem. Terrific kitchen, huge dining room and living space.

    Dan2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very nice and well maintained old house in a very quite neighborhood. It is very close to a lot of restuarants, a great coffee shop, and shops. Be sure to check out the Beer Museum.

    Julie2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Good and spacious place to stay, in a convenient location close to historic downtown and shops!

    Maria2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay as always.! We never regret staying at kelly's place

    Adam2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great big house with a nicely renovated kitchen, beautiful dark wood trim throughout the house and lots of rooms to gather in. Couches were very comfortable. We enjoyed the front porch although it is probably even nicer on cooler days. The kitchen had everything we needed and we were close to the main street in town. A park with trails by the river was fairly close as well. We had a fun weekend.

Grab your fishing rod and head down to the river. Just a short drive to public access. This area of the Shenandoah River is Canoe Capital of Virginia, so bring yours and enjoy your adventures on the river. This property is about 30 minutes from Luray Caverns, 1 mile from Skyline Caverns, and 1 mile from the Shenandoah National Park Front Royal entrance. The George Washington National Forest Story Book Trail is a 35-mile drive, and Massanutten Resort is a 50-mile drive.
  • THE GOOD: Great features including a remote controlled fireplace, a hot tub, strong signal WiFi, satellite TV with some premiums + included OnDemand of standard channels. There was a pool table downstairs and a good stereo system. Full kitchen for cooking, well supplied, with a grill including propane outside. Good layout, spacious and comfortable area. Good communication the day before arrival with a call by the owner (maybe manager? I think this is a commercial company). Easy to check in/arrive. Close enough to town but still private. THE NOT SO GOOD: -Hot tub had too much chlorine/sanitizing agent. I do understand the need to keep it clean given frequent flyers, but both guests had significant skin irritation/redness minutes afterward, despite showering post-soak, and neither of us have had previous dermatological issues. Easy enough to fix. -Toilet handles had to be held down for several seconds for the toilet to start and complete flushing, or you'd need to repeat the flush - annoying, but minor, easy to fix. -Floor had several small odd items (candy, puzzle pieces, bits of dirt) which I didn't actually mind too much, but the house rules/instructions asked guests to sweep up after themselves - I don't like sweeping someone else's mess upon my arrival. Overall this was a great stay at a well-designed and stocked location. You'll enjoy the amenities for the most part and easy access to caverns, Skyline Drive, and going into Front Royal.

    Mason2019-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this house set far back from the road. So quiet and such a great vacation house. Loved the hot tub! Definition Troy will stay here again as it’s so easy to get to tubing on the river, the caverns, and the park.

    J.S.2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for seclusion along with convenience to markets, restaurants, wineries, and Skyline Drive, there is no better place.

    Robert2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location and unique log cabin! My family had so much planned we did not stay in the house much but the amenities were very good while we were there!

    Ryan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • You really can't beat this location if you are looking to enjoy Shenandoah National Park. It's seconds from the Skyline Drive and Skyline Caverns. Front Royal is a very short drive and Luray Caverns was only 30 minutes away. Our party of 6 had plenty of room and really enjoyed evenings by the fire in the spacious common areas. The cabin was cozy and we felt right at home. After some bad luck with the weather (snow and a power outage) both the rental company and owner were quick to respond and take action. It was much appreciated and we would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a cozy and pretty secluded spot right by the Skyline Drive.

    Vanessa2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Huge space! Perfect for a big family. Great location. VERY easy to miss the driveway entrance especially at night (no light at end of the driveway)

    Phillip2019-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say too much about this place. Clean, spacious, convenient, comfortable. Lots of living space. A very warm, "homey" feel. Great location in the woods if you want privacy and quiet, but not too deep in the woods where you feel creepy. :) I highly recommend Franklin Manor.

    Gregory2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, secluded home! So relaxing, we could have stayed all week! The host is fantastic, and I would definitely recommend this cabin for a lovely getaway!

  • Brandy's townhome is stylish and comfortable! So much better than a hotel! Loved the darling garden in back.

    Monica2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Brandy’s place was very nice! She was quick to respond as well. Her place was very clean and homey. I loved her little backyard too. Would definitely recommend this place.

    Rachel2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was a good location for my husband and I to stay while we were in town for a wedding. We had plenty of space and the common area was great to relax for the evening. Brandy was very responsive if we needed anything. We felt very comfortable staying here!

    Catherine2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • A very great place to stay. Love to come back. Everything was amazing...

    Rajneesh2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Though Brandy's place was for the most part clean and comfortable, we were disappointed to find that there were cobwebs and marks on the walls and ceiling. It needs a little work to be a five-star location. It's worth noting that the bathrooms and bedroom were especially clean. The complex where the townhouse was located is a bit run down but we never felt that it was unsafe

    Debra2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The kids and I had a great stay. There was plenty of room and the house was cozy.

    Carlos2019-06-17T00:00:00Z

"Cabbin" of Mountain Home is cozy, comfortable hiker-friendly B&B just 120 yards east of Appalachian Trail, on Route 522, Front Royal, VA. 6 beds in shared space. Reserve 1-6 beds here. See '"Cabbin" at Mountain Home B&B' to rent whole cabin.
The “Cabbin" is a newly renovated historic building that was once a cabin, but is now a small brick building (with the logs still inside the walls). In the spirit of Appalachian Trail (AT) hiking, most people rent individual beds for a night or two. We've hiked the trail and know to provide hiker-friendly details like boot dryers, a shaver, Q-tips, linens, shampoo, soap, ride into town, breakfast, etc. Walk-ins are welcome, but it's always best to call or e-mail ahead so that we can coordinate. With a paid deposit, you can rent the whole "Cabbin" – look for this as a separate listing on AirBnB. The 2nd floor has 4 twin beds and a small, full bathroom. Downstairs is a small kitchen and dining area and a space with 2 futon beds and a small library. The space is air conditioned (or heated, depending upon the season). For before and after pictures of the (historically named) "Cabbin" (and before and "in progress" pictures of the main house) look for us at: Mountain Home in Front Royal. We also operate a full B&B from the main house.
We love being close to the Appalachian Trail and an easy walk in either direction. We are just a 4-mile hike to Shenandoah National Park and canoeing, kayaking and rafting are available on the Shenandoah River that goes right through Front Royal. We have rehabilitated the 1847 historic Greek Revival Style farmhouse on the property into a full B&B. There are 5 other buildings on the property including a chicken coop and sheep shed which we are also going to repair and restore. We are happy to provide tours. The property is on the National and Virginia historic registers as "Mountain Home".
  • As a single, female traveller, it's important for me to feel safe on top of the other housing concerns. Lisa and Scott's b&b not only felt safe, but they've done a great job at making it homey. They were friendly, super-informative hosts who made a fantastic breakfast each morning of my stay. When my car's tire needed replaced Scott dropped his chores to help me change it & recommended a quality tire shop in town. I found all recommendations by these hosts to be exactly what I wanted or needed each time. I'll be coming back to this AirB&B!

    Claire2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great space. Clean and homey. Breakfast is really great. Stay there!

    Neil2017-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • These hosts and their offering is great. It is hostel-like, sharing space, but they attract a special group of people; hikers of the Appalachian Trail. I am not a hiker, but love it anyway. I go to do things in Front Royal, but I understand their are nice day hikes from there too. Highly recommended and breakfast is heavenly.

    Rob2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly hosts. Accommodation was perfect for what I needed. Helpful with information about the trails and surrounding areas. Breakfast made a great start to the day.

    Steve2016-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Had a really great stay! Hosts were very friendly and organised. Would absolutely recommend!

    Felix2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the Cabbin and had an amazing evening with Lisa and the other guests. Lisa served a perfect breakfast and gave us a lot of valuable hints for the region. We hope to come back one day!

    Katrin2015-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Truly excellent experience. Wonderful space, wonderful people, and wonderful energy

    John2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Scott and Lisa were most accommodating hosts in their quaint little cabbin. Glad we chose this place to stay. Breakfast was delicious and the tour was very interesting. Look forward to visiting again.

This is a country paradise. Fresh air, open fields, beautiful views, a large variety of wildlife, river access and plenty of peace and quiet.
  • This place was a little out of the way, but was the most peaceful place. Lots to do, or easy to do nothing at all. Easy to cook - close enough to things to go out to eat. Lots of space too hang out all together. Great place for our family

    Theresa2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend stay at this house. It's a beautiful spot, with so much space, right next to the river. Can't recommend it enough!

    Emily2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Frank provides his guests with picturesque homes and great responsiveness. Though we didn't face any issues, I have no doubt that he'd handle any with a sense of urgency. We had the opportunity to stay at a few of his homes; each was very clean and check-in was seamless.

    David2018-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this house so much! Really secluded, quiet, and perfect for a family/friends getaway. The rec room is probably my favorite part. There's ping pong, air hockey, and foosball. What more could you ask for!

    Noam2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place for our family to stay! It was secluded and peaceful and there was plenty of room for us to spread out and relax.

    Clark2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • The game room kept our teens busy as we walked all around the property. The setting was beautiful. The internet went down, which was only a big deal because I’m a doctoral student, and Frank was on the phone with the company within minutes. He met the company at the house, brought an extra modem just in case, and and was very attentive to my need for internet. My Golden loves the space as well. The little touches of the time period as well as updated items for comfort were lovely. The beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water, and all in all a great experience. We drove to the trails and had great pizza from The Melting Pot pizza place in Front Royal. We’d come again, just next time we’d go later in the year so we would be able to go out on the boats and swim.

    Stacey2019-04-25T00:00:00Z

  • It is a work of art! I love castles and I love camping! I’d like to point out the Super comfortable bed, major plus for me.

    Noelle2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was the coolest trip I’ve taken in a while! Staying in the trailer now makes me want one of my own. I will DEFINITELY be booking another stay soon, I really had a blast and the beds were super comfy with still the experience of being outdoors. If it gets too hot, there’s an AC and a fan, and it was kind of glamorous to camp with a working fridge/freezer.

  • What a remarkable little cottage in a lovely secluded setting. The hot tub was lovely

    Robin2018-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is exactly as advertised and more so. If you are looking for a bucolic setting this is it. Surrounded by nature, super quiet and serene. It is off the ‘beaten path’ but perfect. We will come back.

The River Snug is located our 108 acre Rolling River Farm and is nestled in the trees; just as the forest meets the rolling Virginia fields. Walk out of the back of the house, onto the three levels of decks and patios and be met by lovely views of the Shenandoah River below the house. The interior boasts 3 bedrooms (2 ensuite), 3.5 baths. The central feature of the home is the gorgeous spiral staircase, which winds from the full and spacious basement up to the cozy top floor master suite.
This beautiful new home, which we have named The Snug, has just been added to the Rolling River Holidays rental portfolio! The house was designed and built by one of the local areas finest home builders, and not a detail was left out. The house is located on a stunning ten acre river site on our 108 acre Rolling River and is nestled in the trees; just as the forest meets the rolling Virginia fields on Rolling River Farm. Walk out of the back of the house, onto the three levels of decks and patios and be met by lovely views of the Shenandoah River just below the house. The interior boasts 3 bedrooms (2 ensuite), 3.5 baths. The central feature of the home is the gorgeous spiral staircase, which winds from the full and spacious basement up to the cozy top floor master suite that is nestled up in the treetops. The full, bright kitchen offers plenty of counter space and a movable island with extra seating. It also features a comfortable, built in dining space that is also a perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning with the river views soothing your eyes and the morning sun warming your face. The upstairs living room, just beside the kitchen is the perfect place for relaxing, playing board games, and snuggling up by the fireplace. Down in the basement is a large media and rec room space, which is a great place to send the kids to romp around. While the inside space is incredibly welcoming, you can also seamlessly enjoy the great outdoor spaces that the house provides. The patio off the basement, which is home to the hot tub, is also a great place to enjoy a hot summer day in the shade. The deck off the main floor acts just like an extension to the main living room and adds an outdoor dining option for glorious summer evenings. The private deck on the top floor, is as secluded and peaceful as it gets and is a great place to read a book, go tanning, or just enjoy the view. Within just a few seconds walk, you can also enjoy the wood burning fire pit, which sits on a handsome rock bluff, with sweeping views of the water. Its the perfect place to spend an Autumn night with friends and family reminiscing and telling stories. The house also has private access to the Shenandoah River and 3 kayaks for you to enjoy at no extra charge. The river is one of the highlights of the property and we want you to enjoy it to the fullest. Rolling River Farm is located just 15 minutes from Downtown Front Royal, which is a small, but growing town who is proud to be the canoe capital of Virginia and the gateway to Skyline Drive. Both of which are local attractions that we recommend you explore! We are only 1.5 hour drive (75 miles approx) from the center of Washington DC and are easily accessed from the Northern Virginia area. This makes us a fantastic escape from the city, where you can enjoy peace and quiet, well away from the hustle and bustle of daily life! Alternatively, if you are from out of state and you have the time, we recommend a day trip to Washington DC to see what the nations capital has to offer. The area is also great for other exciting activities, here's just a few of them: Hiking Winery tours Battlefield visits Canoeing/kayaking Biking Fishing Golfing Rolling River Farm is truly a one of a kind property and we can't wait to host you at The Snug! You won't be disappointed.
The house is completely secluded. It shares 108 acres with 4 other holiday homes, all of which are out of sight from the house. It is a rural location so the road in is a small gravel road. Please be respectful of our good neighbors on the road and follow the speed limits recommended.

  • We loved The Snug. Stunning views from every window and very comfortable home with all the amenities. Perfect place to relax and get away, while still be close to everything you might need need.

  • The cabin was perfect for our group and incredibly well-appointed. We had everything we needed -- from extra beach towels to all of the kitchen gadgets to the extra propane for the grill. Frank & Sean made sure everything was taken care of. They were super responsive to our questions, even finding a left behind cell phone and suggesting a place downriver for fishing past the dam. This group would return in a heartbeat.

    Kim2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house was wonderful. There were six adults and the house was set up perfectly to allow everyone to be together but also have personal space when preferred. There is one bedroom and at least one bathroom, on every floor, totaling 3 bedrooms. The breakfast nook was an ideal setting to gather for meals and enjoy each other’s company. The kitchen is set up to allow several people to efficiently prep and cook. The hot tub was located on the "basement" floor, giving you a lovely view of the fire pit and through the tree line, the river as well. The fire pit is a little walk from the hot tub overlooking a bluff, where four chairs were available for sitting. It is a little walk down to the river but well worth it. At the river, three one-person kayaks were provided to use during our stay. We would highly recommend renting a pontoon boat through Frank and Rolling River Farms. The house is secluded enough to give privacy and a very "away" from it all feel, but close enough to stores if you needed to run out for something quickly (10 minute drive to a Wal-Mart or Target). There are lots to do in the surrounding areas. Frank and his son were extremely helpful and accommodating through the entire process of booking the trip and throughout our stay. House is beautifully done and would highly recommend!

  • Great cabin! We really enjoyed our stay

    Dina2018-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home right on the Shenandoah river with everything we needed included inside (and outside)! The home had plenty of space for my large family, we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Easy check-in and check out. Frank is a great host - very attentive and easily reachable for any questions or needs. Looking forward to staying at the River Snug again!!

    Christine2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our long weekend at The Snug! The house was beautiful, very clean, and had everything we needed, including a very well stocked kitchen! We spent lots of time out on the decks enjoying the beautiful views of the river, relaxing in the hot tub, and chatting by the fire pit. Frank was also incredibly welcoming and very responsive before and during our stay. Thanks for the hospitality, Frank!

The Gardner's Room is on the 2nd floor of the fully restored 1847 historic Main House. Features include a poster bed (circa 1840), a daybed w/trundle, 2 closets, dresser, upholstered chairs, beautiful rug on newly refinished heart pine floor, private bathroom. From upstairs, you can see the sun set, "with its broad bright face sinking behind the mountain... lighting up the clouds, and throwing back its reflection on our beautiful and much beloved Mountain Home". Annie Gardner June 30, 1862
Mountain Home is in the National Register of Historic Places, and the Virginia Landmarks Register. The main house was built by Samuel Gardner, a successful farmer, known for raising prized horses. Samuel Gardner and his first wife Sarah had 3 daughters, the oldest of which was Annie who was a teenager during the Civil War. During the summer of 1862, Annie kept a diary about what was happening on the farm.
Mountain Home's 3+ acres are located just 120 steps off the Appalachian Trail on Route 522 (Remount Road), just down the road from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI), and just 4 miles from Front Royal. We are surrounded by trees, but have plenty of open space for viewing stars and lovely sunsets.
  • Lisa & Scott were wonderful hosts! Upon noticing we had a group of 4, Lisa opted to move an extra trundle into our large room -- a thoughtful touch representative of her wonderful hospitality, and that of her husband Scott. We so enjoyed learning more about the special place Mountain Home holds in the history of the region and loved reading Annie Gardner's diary. Lisa's recommendations for dinner in the area were great; we opted to head to Royal Spice for Indian food in Front Royal, which was great. Breakfast the next morning was delicious too, topped off by Scott's homemade grape juice! Scott, an AT thru-hiker, gave great advice for an appropriate hike in the area, which we followed in hiking Compton Gap. A beautiful stay in the "beautiful and much beloved Mountain Home." We hope to return soon!

  • Location is awesome very clean felt the hosts are bit too formal (we had 2 small kids and no matter how hard we try, kids are kids) Breakfast served is only vegetarian (its not bad choice, but wanted you to know) Mr. Scott makes his own Jams and juices. Pls don't miss them. Our kids loved them and we even purchased some on our way back we wish them nothing bust best

  • One couple. November 2018. Annie's Room. Sparking clean. Roomy. Comfortable beds. Big bathrooms with plenty of hot water. The house has an airy feel, it's full of light and beautifully uncluttered unlike most historic B&B's. The fresh breakfast was always delicious. Lisa and Scott are interesting and easy to talk with and we looked forward to seeing them at breakfast and when we arrived back. They were available if we needed them, but they didn't hover. The location is central and easy to reach, especially if the AT is your destination. Fine ($$$$$) dining is 20 minutes down the road in Flint Hill. Front Royal, 10 minutes away, has some delicious choices, Thai and American fusion. Of course we'll return!

  • Lisa and Scott recently opened the main building of Mountain Home to Airbnb guests, and it was a truly exceptional experience. Our room was clean and cozy, with a private bathroom. We enjoyed our time around the fire pit with other guests and had a delicious breakfast ready for us in the morning. What really set this location apart for me was learning about the restoration of this registered historical property - Scott was full of knowledge about the building's history and shared with us the details of the work he put in to restore it to historic building standards. We even got to read the Civil War-era diary entries of the young woman whose bedroom we stayed in. We will be returning!

    Elisabeth2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a wonderful time staying in the gardeners room that has been newly renovated! It was so fun staying in a piece of history. We were super close to some amazing trails as well. The breakfast was delicious and we couldn’t of had a better experience!

The "Cabbin" of historic Mountain Home is a hiker-friendly B&B, 120 yards east of the Appalachian Trail, on Route 522, 3 miles from Front Royal, VA. We have 6 beds, a bathroom, and a small kitchen and dining area, all in cozy, comfortable space. Reserve the whole "Cabbin" here. See "Cabbin" bed listings to reserve individual beds. There is no TV in the Cabbin, but you are welcome to use the Main House game room that has a viewing station with family friendly DVDs and an Internet connection.
The “Cabbin" is a renovated historic building that was once a cabin, but is now a small brick building (with the logs still inside the walls). In the spirit of Appalachian Trail (AT) hiking, people often rent individual beds for a night or two, but when you rent the whole Cabbin, no other guests will be staying there. You'll still find hiker-friendly details like boot dryers, a shaver, Q-tips, linens, laundry, shampoo, soap, a ride into town, breakfast, etc. If you are interested in renting just 1 to 6 beds in shared space, see individual listings for "Mountain Home Cabbin - Bed..." on AirBnB. We are also in the “Appalachian Trail Thru-hiker's Companion", White Blaze guide, Guthook, and AWOL's "AT Guide". The 2nd floor has 4 twin beds and a small, full bathroom. Downstairs is a small kitchen and dining area and a space with 2 futon beds and a small library. The space is air conditioned (or heated, depending upon the season). For before and after pictures of the (historically named) "Cabbin" (and before and after pictures of the main house) look for us up at: mountainhomeinfrontroyal. We also operate a full B&B, with private rooms with their own bathrooms in the main house. Look for that option under Mountain Home in Front Royal, VA.
We love being close to the Appalachian Trail and an easy walk in either direction. We are just a 4 mile hike or 5 mile drive to Shenandoah National Park. You can canoe, kayak or raft on the Shenandoah River that goes right through Front Royal. We have rehabilitated the 1847 historic Greek Revival Style farmhouse on the property into a full B&B. there are 5 other historic buildings on the property, and we are happy to provide tours. The property is on the National and Virginia historic registers as "Mountain Home".
  • Lisa and Scott were amazing hosts. I can't imagine a nicer, cozier place to stay. I would especially recommend it for day hikes in Shenandoah or afternoons in the wine country.

  • We were a group of four passing through on our way to an event in West Virginia, and the Cabbin was exactly what we needed! Very cozy, yet more spacious than you'd expect from the pictures and description. Fully stocked with all of the necessities you'd need, and love that breakfast is included. Lisa and Scott were there when we arrived, were extremely nice, and were knowledgable about the place and history. We're excited to come back and see the property when their plans for the main house come to life!

  • My family and I had a wonderful time at Lisa and Scott’s "Cabbin." They made us feel at home right from the start. The cabin had everything we needed and is a great spot to stay for quick access to hiking trails, wineries, and other adventures in the area. Their cabin was exactly as we expected it to be - nothing fancy yet homey and comfortable with all the needed creature comforts. Lisa and Scott have plenty of information about the Shenandoah Park and its trails plus nearby places to go, and their passion for the region and being hospitable is really nice. They took a lot of their time to give us a tour of the main historical house that is under restoration and taught us a lot about its considerable history. We definitely recommend Lisa and Scott’s place at any time of the year. My family and I would love to go back for another weekend of fun around the Shenandoah Park, and look forward to visiting the main house when the full restoration is completed.

  • We absolutely loved our stay at the Cabbin-Moutain home. Lisa and Scott were so amazing and very caring and informative. We slept wonderfully throughout the night. The area is so peaceful and quiet. We walked about 5 minutes down the road to a couple of trails that we hiked. We would definitely recommend everyone we know whom wants a nice relaxing get-away to stay here. Thank you Lisa and Scott!

    Veronica2014-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed two nights at Scott and Lisa's "Cabbin". (Ask them about the spelling) ;-) Both are very nice and friendly and love to show you around on their homestead which is full of stories and history, and full of future plans. The Cabbin dates even back to the 18th century. It is small and plain but everything is in good shape and they wouldn't let you go out without an excellent breakfast.

  • Very popular with AT hikers, this is a beautiful shared bunkhouse with bathroom/shower and kitchen area (they make breakfast for you). Tremendous value, clean. Lisa and Scott are fun and great conversation, I enjoyed the company of the hikers who stayed there, too. Excellent local knowledge for Front Royal, too. Highly recommended!

  • Lisa and Scott were very welcoming, they were very welcoming. the cabin is located in a convenient location and we were able to watch starts from their lawn. we saw at least 9 shooting starts that night and it was perfect. They were very knowledgeable about the are and had abundant resources about the Shenandoah national park and AT. Lisa and Scott were very inspiring they had the right recommendations for us. They had organic supplies in the bath room and also the home made healthy breakfast before the hike was the most amazing thing included for the price. All who we met there were hikers and they were all awesome people. I would love to go back and stay with them again.

  • The cabin is small but full of interesting people and stories if you are open minded to discover. The location is convenient and the bed is comfortable. Lisa and Scott are great hosts. I enjoyed the homemade hot breakfast very much! It is great to have such a place to stay.

  • Our hosts were very accommodating. We arrived later in the evening and left our dog in the kennel. He started barking and Scott was nice enough to sit with my dog until we got back. We decided not to stay the night because our plans fell through for the following day so we headed back home after arriving that day. Very friendly people.

  • Lisa is such a great hostess! We let her know we would be later than anticipated and she was very understanding and met us upon arrival. Her breakfasts are delicious (she even gives options!) and she is very easy to talk with. She has lots of great information about the surrounding area. We hope to return!

  • Greatest hospitality I've ever encountered. Beds were comfortable but the greatest touch was the breakfast order they take the night before and let you decide when to have it. They also have loads of recommendations of the local hiking trails. Would definitely recommend!

  • This is truly a one of a kind find! Lisa and Scott are so friendly and the house is full of so much rich history. Even though the home is under construction, it didn't impact the quality of the stay at all. If anything, it made it better because we got to hear all about the original condition of the house, everything they have done to renovate it so far, and the plans for the future, which made us look forward to coming back. Breakfast was delicious, atmosphere was welcoming, and room was cozy. What more do you need? :)

The "Cabbin" at historic Mountain Home is a hiker-friendly B&B just 120 yards east of Appalachian Trail, Route 522, Front Royal, VA. We have 6 beds, a bathroom and a small kitchen and dining area in cozy, comfortable space. Reserve 1-6 beds here. See "Cabbin" at Mountain Home B&B to rent the whole cabin.
Starting in about 2018, we will operate a full B&B from the main house, as well.
We love being close to the Appalachian Trail and an easy walk in either direction. We are a 4 mile hike or a 5 mile drive from Shenandoah National Park. Canoeing, kayaking and rafting are available on the Shenandoah River that goes right through Front Royal.
  • Despite arriving two hours early than I expected, because DC traffic was light for once, Lisa and Scott were both easy to get in touch with! They gave me access to the cabin before either one of them arrived later that evening! I was able to get to sleep before Lisa had arrived, and she was so quiet I never even woke up! I will admit that before the next morning I had no idea that one of the hosts (Lisa) would be spending the night in the cabin. As there were no other guest I had assumed I would have the place to myself. After meeting Lisa in the morning, getting an in depth tour of the "big house" being restored, and an as described DELICIOUS breakfast, I began my motorcycle adventure of exploring Skyline Drive and the surrounding area! When I arrived back at the cabin Lisa was there to greet me and give me some great advice on a place for dinner! I had another good nights sleep on a comfortable, if a little noisy, bed! My second days experience at the cabin led me to meet Scott, the other half of "Anything is Possible", and Laurel. It was interesting to hear about Scott's adventures, both near and far! Another two guests arrived later that evening and a third was to join us late that night. Until I had arrived a couple of nights before I was not aware that the sleeping accommodations are all shared in one room, with the exception of two beds on the first floor, where Lisa, Scott and Laurel stayed. For those experienced with a Hostel this may not be such a shock, for someone looking for a more peaceful B&B you may want to rent the entire cabin! My third and final nights stay was less comfortable. The overnight temperature had increased from past days and now all the windows, including a skylight WITHOUT a screen, had to be fully open. Not only did this bring in many insects but a lot of noise from the roadway below. As Scott explained the roadway below is one of only a few that travels between the mountains to neighboring towns. This meant a lot of traffic including noisy semi-trucks using exhaust brakes on the hills! Overall I would say that my stay was good! The real reason for staying here was its proximity to Skyline Drive, the access to local knowledge, and of course BREAKFAST! On all three of these fronts Mt. Home Cabbin delivers!

  • Lisa and Scott were awesome! They are super knowledgeable about Front Royal and were open to answering whatever crazy questions we threw at them. The hostel set up was comfy and allowed us to meet five other people with a healthy mix of both hikers and regular travelers. Plus we learned a ton about the AT over a delicious breakfast every morning. Will definitely be coming back again. Especially when it's a full blown BnB and maybe even if one day we decide to attempt a through hike.

  • Lisa was an incredible host!! I havent stayed in such a pleasant and welcoming environment in a long time. The bed and shower and nature were all perfect and the breakfast made it all super wonderful. This article on mushrooms came up in conversation: http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2013/05/20/form-and-fungus Thank you so much! What a wonderful stay!!

  • The cabbin was a cozy and unique place to stay, and Scott and Lisa were very accommodating, as I didn’t even contact them until 8:30 pm about a bed. Scott greeted me and showed me around and in the morning had French toast, coffee, fruit and juice ready. The three of us had a nice chat before I had to hit the road; I would love to come back and stay in the Big House and explore the town.

  • It was just what I was expecting, based on the description. Very close to the A.T., Shenandoah National Park, and the town of Front Royal. Even if you're not thru-hiking yourself, you're bound to meet some interesting hikers during your stay! And don't miss out on a tour of the main house, which is absolutely amazing! I can't wait to see if when it's finished!

  • I really enjoyed my stay at Lisa & Scott's B&B during my weekend's hikes in the Shenandoah area. First, Lisa and Scott are wonderful hosts and the whole place is like a home to the hikers. Both of them spent some time chatting and hanging out with the guests. In the morning, Lisa cooked and served the breakfast according to my schedule and breakfast was wonderful, including eggs, toast, yogurt, and coffee! Second, I got a chance to meet other hikers! the cabin was fully booked that night and I met three through-hikers and other hikers from dc and Baltimore areas. Everyone was friendly and we sat around and shared our experience. It was a wonderful experience and for sure I will go back to stay there again!

    Luke2015-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa was extremely welcoming and provided an excellent experience for me and the other travelers that I stayed with. I especially enjoyed the tour of the old farmhouse on their property and was inspired by their mission to restore it and turn it into a historic bed and breakfast!

  • such an amazing experience. beyond satisfied. I had broken down on the interstate and was stuck in the town if Front Royal. They accommodated for my last minute inquiry and picked me up to take me to the Airbnb. the space is beautiful. A little cabin that's super homey and filled with treasures. Its tucked away from the business of life. the cabin comes with hot drinks, snacks, and other goodies. you get served a hot breakfast that is cooked by the host in the house. They even gave you options of what you wanted. the host couple ad super kind, sweet, and hospitable. without a doubt made my bad situation into a good time. can't wait to stay there again when I'm not stranded. please stay here and experience it!

  • Lisa and Scott's Cabbin is the perfect place for hikers or other travelers looking to explore Shenandoah and surroundings! I stayed in Lisa and Scott's Cabbin for one night in December before starting a short backpacking trip in Shenandoah. Given the low price, I was expecting self check-in and only the bare essentials. As such, I was really blown away by Lisa and Scott's helpfulness and hospitality: They greeted me and gave me a tour at check in; they offered me parking during my hike for a very reasonable rate ($3 per day); they included a delicious homemade breakfast with the stay; and Scott gave me a free ride to the trailhead when I was ready to start hiking! All in all, a truly excellent experience! The Cabbin itself is small but lovingly adorned with decorations related to the AT and other local attractions. Scott hiked the AT himself in 2012 and he and Lisa have a wealth of knowledge about hiking and other activities in the area. Since I was visiting in December I had the Cabbin all to myself. I chose one of the double futons downstairs and slept quite comfortably. In the summer I imagine it can get a little cramped. The four twin beds upstairs are all in the same room, the two double futons downstairs only have a partial wall between them and the kitchen, and there is only one bathroom in the Cabbin. As such, if you're coming in the summer and you're expecting privacy and quiet then you may be disappointed. But even if its a full house, I think the low price and the outstanding hospitality make it a great deal! I certainly hope to come back again soon!

  • Great stay for those on the App. Trail, Scott has walked te entire trail, and has a book of his journey that serves as inspiration for you to continue on! Very nice couple.

  • Lisa and Scott were gracious and friendly hosts. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, albeit short, and would recommend the space to travelers. The included breakfast really hit the spot!

    Andrew2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We learned a lot about "slackpacking" and local hikes by staying with Lisa and Scott. We especially appreciated the breakfast, too: vegan + gluten-free pancakes, yogurt, free, teas, and juice. Thank you!

    Beth2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Magical, peace filled, educational, and honored. Lisa and Scott are the best in communications. The bed and the bath were very clean. The cabbin was easy to locate and came with more that I counted upon. (Awesome organic breakfast- go Scott!) Our kind hosts treated us to a tour of the mansion they are refurbishing, 3 years into the 5 year plan. I was honored to share in the excitement on this leg of a passion they have shared since there own AT thru hike. The information about the grounds and buildings were fascinating, I feel like I am on their " team". A great walk into history, or the woods. If you have ever been a hiker or like to share trail stories this is a place for you. I truly enjoyed the other 4 house mates who each had trails to return too but we're pleased as I to be a part of Lisa and Scotts Journey at Mountain Home. My most gracious thanks.

  • The location to the Appalachian trail, Shenandoah and Front Royal is unbeatable. Scott and Lisa are tremendous hosts who are respectful of "my space" but are also very warm and welcoming with their black lab and conversation; exceeding expectations for the "bed and breakfast". I wanted to stay multiple nights!

  • Wonderful place to use as your base camp for hiking or checking out the region. I took a nice drive down to the Larae Caverns and also on the skyline highway. Lisa was very kind and provided a lovely meal. Super cool staying in such a historic place.

  • Stopped for one night but could have stayed longer. The place is really nice and a perfect location for Shenandoah and/or the AT. Scott's hospitality and advice were amazing and he was great for a chat. Awesome breakfast too!

  • Staying at Lisa and Scott's cabin was wonderful. They were amazing hosts and cooked us a delicious breakfast both mornings we were there. The cabin is right next to the Appalachain Trail and gave easy access to hiking. Lisa and Scott were also super accomodating and ready with resources and suggestions for us. Would definitely stay there again.

  • Simply amazing; the best AirBNB I have stayed at in terms of atmosphere and hospitality. This isn't a "side job" for Scott and Lisa, it is their passion. If you are in Front Royal and want a great place to stay, a delicious breakfast, and good company you can't go wrong staying at the Cabbin.

  • I stayed here overnight before hiking in Shenandoah the next day. Lisa was out of town so I was bummed about not meeting her but Scott is fantastic! He gave the guests a tour of the main house at Mount Home and the renovation work they're doing is incredibly daunting but I 100% plan on visiting again once it's all finished because it's going to be a sight to behold. Scott was very flexible with the breakfast options and the accommodations were exactly as described. Reminded me of a much smaller-scale version of the huts up in the White Mountains, only much more personal. Highly recommend!

  • Lisa and Scott were wonderful hosts. The cabin was tidy and comfortable. We were served breakfast of our choice in the morning, and given lots of great info about the town, Shenandoah park, and the Old Rag hike. Highly recommended!

  • I highly recommend Lisa and Scott's Cabbin as a perfect place to stay while exploring the surrounding area! The Cabbin was super clean, had a bunch of thoughtful amenities, and Lisa cooked us an amazing breakfast. The property is in a great area-- 5 minutes into Front Royal downtown, and 5 minutes to the trailhead that Lisa and Scott recommended! Lisa and Scott- the Chester Gap to Compton Peak trail was EXACTLY what we wanted. Thank you so much for a lovely stay, and I'm already recruiting friends to come back with me!

My Cozy Loft is a short drive (7 min) to historic, downtown Front Royal, to coffee shops, shopping and restaurants; short stroll to Christendom College. Not only will you have access to beautiful Shenandoah River with notice to friendly neighbors :) but Shenandoah NP, Skyline Drive and scenic byways are only 6.4 mi from your front door. Mostly you will love my place because of its comfort, privacy and natural setting; good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
"Shenandoah Shores" is a community of a few hundred residences tucked into a bend in the Shenandoah River and, though with easy access to I-66, known for its natural beauty and privacy. Fourth of July fireworks is pretty much the biggest neighborhood event; most come for the bucolic fishing and canoeing.
