Welcome to my loft! I’ve watched this area grow and blossom into the hippest spot of DTLA.Welcome to the Arts District. Ive lived in some of the most luxurious places in the city. Being tired of the cookie cutter places, no soul feel, therefore I decided to build something of my own "artist made" a true loft experience. home is centrally located in the arts District in downtown Los Angeles. Too try and keep this huge loft cool during the hotter days we have fans and a little A/C unit :) During winter we provide small portable heaters to help you stay warm :) **We have cable TV selected because there’s no option for Netflix Chromecast and other streaming devices we have for your entertainment**
You have Urth Café just a few feet away, Plenty of shops and eateries. Two blocks walking distance from Little Tokyo with some of the best sushi. And a 10 minute Uber ride to LAlive and Staples Center. You have Angel’s brewery. You have a collectives of art galleries, You have a park a block away the area is hip friendly and artsy definitely a cool place to visit and stay. All in all, entirely the best downtown LA night clubs, coffee shops and pubs.
  • DO NOT STAY HERE OR ANY OF HIS LISTINGS IN THE SUMMER MONTHS. Upon check-in, Drew was very nice but was dripping sweat just being in the apartment. It was 85+ degrees at night with no windows. He claims to have portable AC, DOES NOT WORK. Blows hot air and doesn’t even know how to install it, yet claims to have built the entire unit by hand. Maintenance guy never showed up. Brought industrial sized fans to help, but there’s no fresh air so all it does it blow massive dust bunnies around. It was over 90 Degrees during the day, don’t let Drew’s “nice” personality win you over. He is taking advantage of people in his glorified storage unit located in the worst part of LA. Had a Purge-like encounter trying to check in with gangsters threatening my wife and I. Don’t stay here, Drew knows what he is doing and you won’t get a refund. He makes AirBnB money 9 months out of the year and they take his side. Thanks Drew for ruining my week in LA!

  • At Drew’s place you can expect to have a great time and be surrounded by tons pf activities. If you are bored, you are doing something wrong.

  • So I would like to publically thank Drew for our super late check in. My girlfriend and I flight was delayed until about 1a.m in the morning, we didn't arrive to Drew's place until about 3am (we picked up a rental in between). Drew waited for us, check us in, showed us his beautiful loft and accommodated us at if it was 10am in the morning. The apartment was amazing, very very clean and it looks just like the images on his profile. I would definitely rent from him again. Thank You again Drew from the bottom of my heart!

    Jasmine2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Drew was a great host quick response and very helpful, his Loft is one of a kind and amazing. I’ll definitely recommend Drew’s loft!

    Elton2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Drew was an amazing host!! He was available on the drop of a dime when my friend and I got stranded in LA with no where to go! The Airbnb was beautiful, you will not regret staying here!!

    Hailey2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Drew's place did not disappoint! It was super clean which is the main thing I really care about. It's close to Urth Cafe (their Spanish Latte is the best!) and not too far from Union Station. Make sure to check-out Olvera Street if you're in the area too. The space is really big and there's plenty of free parking which is a plus when in DTLA. Drew was also a really great host and ensured we had everything we needed and was quick to respond to questions.

  • Great location, very spacious, unique and beautiful Loft! It is filled with creativity! Really appreciate Armin's hospitality and look forward to staying here again! Loved the fact that it was right next door to a popular coffee shop called Urth Cafe as well!

  • Definitely just a place to chill with a few friends, not really for a family.

    Tyana2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • This loft is sweet. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for something unique and awesome in its own quirky way. At about 3,200 square feet there's a lot of room to boogie and take in the tastefulness of the props and the old school design.

  • A great way to experience LA! Convenient location with many great places to walk to. Armin was a great host and the loft is such a treat! I definitely recommend.

We have 18 pods in a large industrial loft. Live/Work with us, freelancers, digital nomads and travelers :) Check out PODSHARE on Vice, Curbed, LA Weekly, Al Jazeera, BBC Radio, LA Magazine, KTLA, CBS - we are all over the net right now! Yay!
This is PodShare's second location! Each custom built pod has it's own flatscreen television with Roku (Netflix, Hulu, Pandora), LED night light, personal outlets, and small luggage area. The Space itself is an industrial loft. We have a community kitchen, lounge, co-working space, two bathrooms/two showers, and 24hr keypad access. This is a co-living community - an awesome opportunity to make new friends.
The Arts District is the heart of downtown LA. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and incredible street art right out side our doors. Little Tokyo is just a block away, and is filled with food, a museum, cute stores, and a bowling alley. Getting Around The closest Metro is Little Tokyo (across the street), and anything you could want to see downtown is within a mile of the location (Staples Center, Disney Music Hall, LA Live). Hollywood, Dodger Stadium, Pasadena are all a short metro or bus ride away.
  • First time at PodShare, was a great experience, and even though I was overbooked, Elvina was able to accommodate me.

  • Basically an American hostel. Decent value for money and interesting experience. Most people are there for a layover or a short stay. A couple pods have been there for a while. Communication from Podshare was thorough and the onsite staff member was great.

Beautiful 625 SF suite-style bedroom in the heart of the Arts District – perfect for the working traveler, studio artist & those who simply want to live like a local. Ideal for those looking for a rustic loft-like experience with a cozy feel in a creative open-minded environment. This room includes 1 queen bed and 1 twin bed – sleeps comfortably up to 5 people. Futons are available upon request.
We’re located in a hip area at the intersection of Seaton & 5th, steps away from famous murals, public artwork, sightseeing spots, unbeatable amenities, and excellent opportunities to expand your network + engage with locals. Right down the stairs are retail stores (Arts District Co-op indoor flea, Cleveland Art), LA residents, and creative office spaces. We reside on the 2nd floor of an industrial building characterized by high-vaulted ceilings, tall brick and concrete walls, rough-hewn floors, exposed pipes & beams. Multiple skylights above flood this beautiful spacious loft with warm, natural light. Views from the windows face a timeless industrial landscape. We’ve personally customized our live/work loft with a combination of elements from the original building, industrial and natural materials, an abundance of plants, reclaimed wood, and recycled materials with security, convenience, and preservation in mind. The open plan allows for a flexible setup in terms of working, relaxing, with the option of engaging with your neighbors or unwinding in your own personal space. Plenty of room to spread out; accented with plants, books, magazines, and original artwork from neighboring Los Angeles artists. Please note my loft is a shared space. Your bedroom is private, whereas the common areas, bathrooms, and kitchens are shared with other guests and subtenants. Recommended for people cool with hostel living. We encourage open-minded, independent and responsible guests. We’re happy to accommodate to meet your needs and sensitivities to aspects of the loft you may experience during your stay.

The Historic Pasadena 110 freeway (the first in the Western US) is worth taking a spin.
  • I enjoyed staying at Phillip's place very much. I chose the place for its spacious room and stylish decor, everything was as described. I also loved that there was 2 garment rack as I had a lot of outfits during my trip. I was in LA for business so it was nice to have large table to do some work and there was no issue with internet. Communication was seamless. He was always quick to respond when I needed something for the room or had questions about check in/out. I and my friend got a chance to meet him and his roommate to chat a bit and it was also very nice. This can be a problem for LA in general and not necessarily a comment for the place but I was getting attacked by mosquitos at night pretty badly. If this is a continuous case it may be helpful to have mosquito net or candle by the bed. Overall it was great, I would stay again and would recommend to anyone who is into this type of creative space.

    Ran2018-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Phillip's place was a super fun! I'll def be back. The location is amazing. Beds were super comfy, shower was nice and hot, and Phil is very quick to respond with anything we needed. Coffee is right down the street and walking distance to lots of bars, restaurants, gas station, brewery, and pizza. What more could you want? Also, the price can't be beat. Thanks, Phil!

    Ahyrin2019-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks so much again for the stay! Loved the location and definitely would recommend to anyone who is visiting LA. I loved the big open space - it was super comfy! Shout out to you for the extra blankets :D Can't wait to come back! One thing I would mention.... When I walked in the building, I saw a huge set of stairs that I was not prepared for - Luckily enough someone else had stepped inside the same time I did and kindly helped lift my heavy ass luggage. So side note!!!! Be careful on those stairs because... I rolled on my ankle carrying my own luggage DOWN on the very last step and it's been swollen for 2 weeks! Or just don't freakin overpack like I did for 2 days. Is there an elevator??? This is in no way a reflection of the stay or location, just a warning! You guys will enjoy, promise!

    Stephanie2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A great location and clean space!

    Jenna2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Phillip’s place was very convenient and affordable. The rooms are spacious and chic; and even though there are several other guests, there was not too much conflict in using the two restrooms. It is very important to note that there are *not* full height walls between the guest rooms, so it is up to each guest to be respectful of others (and not invite random people over to a shared airbnb at 1:30am). Phillip was very responsive and helpful for the most part. Unfortunately, we added an extra guest in the week leading up to our trip and the host did not leave out an extra set of towels and sheets.

    Rebecca2019-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed staying in this beautiful space. The area was perfect, no issues with parking. My only issue was it wasn’t as private as I thought due to the open ceilings from the structure of the building but it was no big deal. Everyone was nice, respectful, and I had no issues getting rest. Best part was the location.

    Theresa2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 days during the camp flog gnaw festival weekend. We were attending the festival and I believe the other guests were as well. The room and space are exactly how it is pictured; beautiful, spacious, lots of natural lighting. If you're planning to stay here during a busy weekend in LA, expect there to be other guests staying there as well. The bathrooms are shared so just be aware of that when you book this room. The location was good but we did have to uber to most places we went. Our last two days we realized that there were restaurants and shops within walking distance that we wish we would've known about sooner. Philip was very quick with responding and helpful when issues came up. Overall- a really great place to stay!

  • Great place in Arts District! Walking distance from breweries, food, other bars, and Little Tokyo. Not a far drive from downtown either. Location is overall good but just be smart when you’re walking around at night. Phil was a great host and very communicable. The loft itself was nice! The bed was very comfortable and the space was overall pretty homey.

  • Phillip was always quick to reply and was thoughtful in his messages. We were staying at the time of an earthquake and he even messaged us to make sure everyone was safe. Definitely recommend booking him!

    Natasha2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very large and decorated nicely. The apartment does not have total acoustic separation from the neighboring apartments, and thus was very loud. The area was great because we have lived in the arts district and know what areas to avoid.

    Linda2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • When we got to the Airbnb, the description was a little bit deceiving. Based on pictures we were under the impression that it was in an apartment complex, but it was actually located inside a game room that I won't name to protect their location. We were expecting a modern apartment that would feel almost like staying at a hotel, it was actually more like a warehouse/art studio converted into an apartment. It was a unit that also had a door that connected to another neighbor's apartment unit inside. That was a little weird because the neighbor could potentially come into the place if they wanted to, and required trust on our end. We didn't mind all this so much because it was still clean, it had almost all the basics of what we needed to stay almost comfortably, it just wasn't what we were expecting. We had a wedding to attend to and needed an iron to iron our clothes. To be fair, it wasn't listed as part of the amenities so that part was our fault for not double-checking. And it's a good thing I brought my own hairdryer because they didn't have that either. After our first night there, the next morning someone came into our Airbnb unit while we were sleeping looking for the lockbox. This was extremely rude and could've been easily avoided if we were notified beforehand. It made it not reassuring that we'd be having any privacy since the person felt comfortable to just waltz in whenever without even knocking on our door. The biggest downfall to our stay was the AC.  It's listed that there is AC in the apt which was a key factor to us selecting an Airbnb. However, what isn't noted is that the AC is connected to his neighbor's unit that controls the thermostat to both units. This means 1. I can't adjust the AC myself, and 2. If I wanted the AC turned on, I'd have to contact Phillip to contact his neighbor to turn it on for me. This was a HUGE hassle and pain for us because it was one of the hottest and humid weekends in LA, and I'm a person who actually prefers warm weather and it was too hot even for me. It was like a sauna and we were melting. Phillip had a large fan in the unit, but it barely did anything at all. We had it blowing in our faces and we were still dying. Though Phillip was quick to respond to us, it was still such a pain to have to contact him to ask him to tell his neighbor to turn the AC on. We had to do this several times throughout the weekend. My guess is that the neighbor turns off the AC when he/she isn't home to save electricity, so even when Phillip did contact him/her the AC wasn't turned on until hours later. This made it very frustrating trying to have a place to come back to, to relax, which is the whole point of a vacation stay. In spite of all this, I will say that this spot is an excellent location to get around in LA. Lyfts were always nearby and we'd be able to order one in under 5 minutes, you can definitely get around without a rental car if you plan to stay in downtown LA. So if you don't care for a hotel type Airbnb experience and can live without AC, I'd recommend this spot. If AC is a dealbreaker like it was for us, I'd look elsewhere.

We have nice southern exposure so the lighting is great. We are above the Arts District Co-Op, a unique shopping experience, and 1 block away from Urth Cafe, nearby attractions are Hauser Wirth Gallery, DTLA museums, & great eclectic restaurants.
We are above the Arts District Co-Op, a unique shopping experience, and 1 block away from Urth Cafe, nearby attractions are Hauser Wirth Gallery, DTLA museums, & great eclectic restaurants. Great yoga classes, rock climbing gym, all very close by. 2 small neighborhood markets just minutes away or Whole Foods, 1.5 miles away on the other side of downtown. Elysian Park is a 10 minute drive and is huge with trails to hike around or go for a picnic. Metro link stations are also very close with a short commute to Santa Monica and beaches!
  • We had a lovely experience in Marisa Nicole's place in the arts district of LA. The building was quiet and in a convenient location.

  • Amazing location in the Arts District. Cool galleries, bars, and pop-up events in the area (Kaskade was playing in an art tent/dome that involved virtual reality down the street - wish we had time to see that!). I wish we knew the central A/C was controlled by the next door neighbor that was inconveniently not home. There was a heat wave in LA and the little mobile air conditioner by the bed didn’t cool down the loft during the day. It was fine at night though. Still, such a stylish place to stay!

  • The value of this place is fantastic. It's in a great area, it's large, comfortable (but firm) bed, great bathroom, and a cool space all around. I would definitely stay here again. If you go in the winter just bring some warm clothes because the place can get a bit chilly at night.

    Eli2018-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay. The neighborhood is fabulous and the metro bikes are right there, it's great to zoom around downtown for shopping and there are many great restaurants coffee shops boutiques and yoga nearby. Great host, I recommend staying!

  • Eclectic, spacious artist's studio loft with all you need for a short self-catering trip. Really interesting part of Downtown LA, within walking distance of the historic core and all its art deco architecture, Central Market etc. Easy and prompt communication and check in. Highly recommended.

  • Loved the apartment! Very cute decor and a big sized loft for 2 people. Good location with lots of cute stores walking distance. Would definitely recommend if you're visiting LA!

  • Marisa’s loft is comfortable, big and wonderfully decorated with antiques. The neighborhood is the artist district with funky local eateries and bars. Just walking around the block is a little adventure where you see fantastic street art and a craft and clothing cooperative around the corner. The building houses some businesses and residents. It is fairly quiet at night. The Urth Cafe down the street has the best breakfast in town. I did not rent a car and found that I could walk to downtown LA, little Tokyo and all around the arts district.

    Hillary2018-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Large, clean, unique loft in the Arts District. Location is close to downtown and makes it easier to avoid traffic. Clean and well appointed, everything you need for a great stay!

This loft is perfect for any Creative interested in photography, modeling, videography etc. Your living area is located in a private room & there is also a built in infinity wall for photography in the back corner of the loft! The energy in the neighborhood is very vibrant & upbeat with a ton of quality restaurants & pubs worth checking out. There’s also a few pretty lowkey shopping spots & art galleries as well. The Arts Districts is turning out to be one of the best kept secrets in LA!
There are plenty of food options & Galleries within the area; all of which are walking distance! - Umami Burger - Pie Hole - Salt & Straw - Café Gratitude - Arts District Brewery - Urth Café - Little Tokyo - Groundwork Coffee
  • Kemitt's place was exactly as described! It has one of the best locations in the Arts District and the place does look like a stylish artist studio. He was also very quick in responding to my questions/messages. Other than the parking situation which is part of being in LA and the district, I highly recommend Kemitt's place & will definitely come back.

    Edgar2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space & energy! Book it!

    Chris2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Kemitt has an incredible space, amazing communication and the best hospitality. This stay truly exceeded all of my expectations and will forever be memorable. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars, but really, future travelers can expect to be fully satisfied and probably be sad to check out.

    David2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kemitt’s place is very big and nicely laid out. The location is perfect for exploring the Arts District and nearby museums. It also fun to walk to Little Tokyo. And it’s convenient to the Metro if you are trying to get by without a car. The dog Yuri is beautiful and sweet as can be. You really have the run of the whole large loft, as Kemitt seems to stay in another area when there is a visitor.

    Leslie2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kemitt’s place was awesome ! Never seen a place so style and comfy ! He had great hospitality and was very understanding with prior issues !! Great host ! Would come back and stay anytime !!!

This vintage 1954 trailer is located inside our huge 6,000 sq/ft loft (550 sq meters) in the heart of the Arts District in Downtown LA. Outside the trailer, the loft has shared bathrooms, a shared kitchen, multiple shared living areas, and a backyard. Also Metro City Bikes are available for rent just outside.
This vintage 1954 travel trailer is a home within a home - located inside our huge 6,000 sq/ft loft (550 sq meters) in the heart of the Arts District in Downtown LA. The trailer basically serves as an extra bedroom, offering a fun and completely unique place to stay next time you're in Los Angeles. The trailer does not lock, but currently there are no locks on any rooms, so we are all on the honor system. The 16 ft trailer is your cozy and private room inside the loft. All of it's original detail has been untouched (except we retrofitted it with a huge king size bed). Outside the trailer, the loft has shared bathrooms (one with a shower/toilet, and one with a bathtub), a shared kitchen, multiple shared living areas, pool table, an indoor swing, and a magical hidden garden in the back. The space is a real artist loft that was converted from a 1918 factory. It's very clean, but this is not a cookie cutter "hotel" environment. We have workstations, building areas, art material shelves/lockers, and 2 other bedrooms; my business partner (and friend) lives in one of the bedrooms while I live upstairs in a separate loft. Our space is generally quiet, but it is a creative live/work space. This is a great place for fun people who are looking for a more interesting way to stay in LA. We hope you come and visit! (If you are contacting us about a photo, film or music video shoot, please know that both units must be available and rented through AirBnB on top of additional use of space fee)
The Arts District is a super vibrant part of Los Angeles, and we have a lot of bikes you can rent (with a deposit) to explore nearby coffee shops, restaurants, galleries, museums, theaters and other cool stuff in the neighborhood. We are located right next to the LA river between the famous 4th and 6th street bridges where countless films have been shot (from Terminator to Batman). There are often film shoots in our neighborhood because of the unique architecture and old brick buildings. There is also a lot of great street art in the neighborhood, with pieces from Shepard Fairey to JR. Directly on our corner you'll find "Blue Bottle Coffee" and "Zinc" a vegetarian restaurant. One block away is Villains Tavern, known for great live music (5 nights a week). Urth Cafe is just 3 blocks away, and has great food and is open late every day. Church and State, has some of the fanciest dining around - 4 blocks away. Little Tokyo, MoCA, the RedCat, LA Live, and Chinatown are all within biking distance. There are tons of hidden places to explore all around and we love showing people the neighborhood. Despite all of the fancy things that have made this neighborhood so vibrant, it is still largely industrial, so don't be surprised if you don't see SoHo style galleries with Chanel and Marc Jacobs boutiques next door. This is more SoHo in the late 80's... and that's how we like it. :-)
  • Harleys place was the coolest place that I’ve ever been! The loft was huge and you got plenty of space there! Hip neighborhood as well and plenty of good restaurants and coffee shops. Highly recommended!

    Minna2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • As a west side resident on a temporary sabbatical out of state I love to rediscover my city via airbnb in neighborhoods other than my own. Harley's place is conveniently located in DTLA arts district, with walking distance to restaurants and coffeeshops, close to freeways and 5 min drive to new whole foods market. Ample free street parking (after 6p, at day it can be a bit crowded). which is sa plus as DT parkin is usually very expensive. Spotty internet is no joke (as stated) the brick walls blocked all reception on my phone (AT&T). There is no way to properly lock/close trailer door, even though I felt safe I prefer being able to lock the door especially while traveling alone This is a vintage trailer, in a shared work/live space and not a suit at the ACE hotell, the comfort level is reflected in the price which means that it is 50's dimensions (snug) and it carries a somewhat lived in smell and one shared bathroom. Over all I think it is a great value for money and perfect place to rest your head if you're looking for a fun way to discover one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in LA.

    Judith2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Best airbnb I've stayed at so far. Amazing space, absolutely over it!

    Joeri2018-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • We weren't staying the night, just there for a photoshoot. Great location to use for this purpose! I found the unit in mostly the same condition as shown online. If you wanted to use some of the things in the photos, I would clear it with the host first. Such as, how come the pillows were off the couch? We didn't need it, but you might. Access was easy, but parking is (Website hidden by Airbnb) availabe but not easy to get. Overall, great experience and a unique space.

    Charlotte2013-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was not a happy experience. The bathroom is tiny and dirty. It didn’t feel cozy. I work in Dtla in one of these converted building so I understand them and have stayed and been very happy. BUT This bathroom was unacceptable as an AirBnb. Also on the night of my check in the resident was having a party upstairs that was very loud. The only space in the fridge for food was a tiny drawer. I expected to stay 6 days, the food I purchased for my stay didn’t fit. I’m actually devastated that i payed for this and was unable to stay. I have PTSD there is no way I could have showered in that bathroom without a lock. I realize I overlooked that unlock-able bathroom in the description. I NEVER would have thought a bathroom wouldn’t have a lock in this situation. But this was an EXPENSIVE over sight on my part.

    Tawnya2018-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • The loft is great!!! Very spacious, comfy and private (depending if the other room is also rented) as is the trailer (the bed is huge! - seriously). Quiet and industrial area with some nice cafes. Nice hosts!! It was fun to find that Harley speaks excellent french. A great place that we would definitely book again!

    Lydia2014-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and eclectic, this space is awesome. Great way to experience LA. The arts district is walkable and the place itself is close to major highways. Make sure to not miss the fact there is a very lovely bathtub, use the swing, and enjoy the space.

    Kris2018-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Harley has a really cool spot in the arts district. Very walkable and a short drive to downtown. The loft itself is very eclectic and true to the area. We felt safe and enjoyed the place. Would recommend if you’re looking to enjoy LA further than the touristy spots.

  • Absolutely loved it!! If you’re looking for the perfect night and stay with a loved one this is the spot! The view alone of DTLA is worth every penny! Bridget was amazing host, we hope to one day go back!!

    Danny2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We were lucky enough to rent the rooftop for a small birthday soiree, and I can safely say that this is one of the most unique spaces in LA! Bridget was so incredibly accommodating, and ensured that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. From the string lights, to the unreal view, to the hip Arts District neighborhood, this is truly a one-of-a-kind experience that will not disappoint those looking for "outside of the box" accommodations.

    Adam2014-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Bridget was amazing and we will definitely be back to stay at this spot. Such a unique place to stay in LA.

    Kyle2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second stay at Bridget's rooftop trailer. I really can't recommend staying here enough - it's just such a wonderful and completely unique experience. It's a special place - if you want to stay downtown/in the arts district I can't imagine you could possibly do better than this!

    Jessica2013-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Bridget is a fantastic host and made us feel right at home. The pictures almost don't do this place justice, it's truly magical. We hosted a small get together here with some old friends and everyone had a fantastic time. This is one of the best neighborhoods in Los Angeles, so much going on, amazing views and close to restaurants, bars, shops, etc. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to get an authentic LA experience.

    Wendy2015-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Bridget welcomed us in a way that made us feel like home right away. She had time for us and was very helpful. The place was more than amazing and the downstairs bar added a cool vibe to it. Wish we could have stayed more than one night - there is a lot to explore and enjoy. We will not forget this experience!

Description/ your place Live in in the heart of Little Tokyo and the Arts District with other international travelers, visitors, and residents!  Sogo Residence is a historic brick building that has served Los Angeles travelers for over 100 years. Rooms are SRO dormitory-style: rooms are locked and private but bathroom and kitchens are shared. While it's not fancy, if you are looking for a basic simple, inexpensive place to stay in an excellent location, and are comfortable living in an older historic building, we offer an excellent value. We are proud that many Airbnb guests have become long-term tenants.   There are 44 units total; due to the number of tenants and guests we take a hands-off approach and give guests their space, but our manager is available on the Airbnb messaging platform and via email. We welcome open-minded, independent and responsible Airbnb guests who can take care of themselves. LENGTH OF STAY - Our furnished private dorm rooms are available for minimum four days, longer term stays are encouraged.  We generally accept reservations of 30 days maximum length. If you wish to reserve for a longer period you may discuss that via email with the property manager after you check in for your initial stay. ROOM DESCRIPTION: All rooms are private they are for one individual only, they have locks on doors, and come with a sink and a wall heater.. Furnished rooms come with bed, desk, chair, and mini-fridge. Unfurnished rooms are completely empty; you must bring your own bed and furniture.  These are meant for long-term stays. Kitchen, toilet, shower rooms are shared, and cleaned every day. ON ARRIVAL: Please keep in mind that this is Self-check-In meaning you check yourself in and get the keys from a lockbox. CHECKING IN: Check-in is at 3 pm & Check-out is at 11 am. We do offer early check-in & late check-out as well as luggage storage for an hourly fee. Please make sure to ask first for availability on any service before your initial check in 3pm or your checkout at 11am. SECURITY DEPOSIT: Because most of our tenants are long-term guests, our security deposit is $450 and it does not change based on length of stay.  The deposit is held by Airbnb through your credit card and they will return it to you after your stay. We have had a couple hundred individual reservations with our building and have only had to make deductions for damages a couple of times.  If you are a responsible guest, you should have no worries. ADDITIONAL GUESTS: Additional guests are not allowed without prior notification and prior permission given by the host.  Unless agreed to otherwise, any additional guests who stay past 10 pm will be charged an additional $10 per night.  If an additional guest is brought without prior permission and paid for in advance, you may lose your security deposit or have your reservation cancelled.  Thank you in advance for not bringing overnight guests without prior permission.
Little Tokyo is the most vibrant area of downtown Los Angeles, with authentic Japanese eateries, markets, and stores. Don't miss Sushi Gen for sushi or Daikokuya for ramen. The Arts District is nearby as well, with plenty of cafes, art galleries, and street art to view, as well as some of the best restaurants in LA. Favorites include Bestia and Manuela, and Salt & Straw for ice cream.
  • great place to stay if you dont mind that dorm style feeling, quite and friendly...

    robert2010-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific location. Off-street parking available a few blocks away. Large kitchen.

    Jennifer2011-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • It was really cozy room. And the thing that I liked here most is that this resident is quite and people respect for others. But it smells a little bit not good. Besides that one, I am satisfied with this room.

    Harper2013-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • The hotel is situated in a fantastic location, close to the Metro line and the LIttle Tokyo hub. There are also great restaurants at the end of S Hewett St. The room was clean and meets basic needs. The only drawbacks: the shared shower facilities needed to be cleaned more often, and in the summer,it can be a bit too warm in the rooms, although there is a fan provided. Otherwise, a good hotel and recommended for those on a budget.

    Kim2011-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • I like this place very much, it was really clean and has all you need. Alex (manager) was very helpful and friendly. The location is really convenient. I enjoyed staying in this place and recommend for all.

    Elena2012-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Alex, who runs the place, is very nice and does a fair amount of cleaning. But it's like polishing a turd, because the place is a disaster. There are no locks on the toilets, which are down the hall. The shower, too, is a dirty walk back to the room and made me want to go right back and shower again. The rooms are very loud, with neighbors, 43 of them, slamming doors and blaring alarm-clocks. It's dorm life at its worst. Nothing was stolen, but I was kinda nervous the whole time. That said: Cheap, great location.

    Kyle And Elle2012-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • People there are very friendly , just like family :) And really good price really great location. I got to meet my favorite Artist Eliza Frye!!! Yeah! Thank you all so much. Make my US trip a great starting.

    Fyn2010-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The location is great, near downtown, a minute from the metro and close to Union station which is a central public transportation hub. The neighborhood, Little Tokyo, has great places to eat. The accommodations are very basic but the price is unbeatable. Alex is really nice

  • Found Toby's loft while looking for a place to stay near downtown LA and the LA LIVE/Staples area. Toby was super responsive and accommodating. The space itself was spacious with tall ceilings, solid Internet, TV, a small desk, plenty of electric outlets and really everything we could need. Toby even made sure I had an iron and ironing board. The neighborhood is decent, especially by DTLA standards. I probably wouldn't make any meandering excursions at night nearby, but it was find during the day and for Uber/Lyft drop-offs and pick-ups. (There is a gated parking garage and parking spot if you bring your own car.) There was a Stumptown coffee shop on the block that I came to love, with awesome coffee, great baked goods, and friendly staff. Several top notch restaurants and a small convenience store were within a few blocks. Most importantly, it was probably a 15-minute ride (max) to get to LA LIVE or Koreatown, even during the height of the E3 tradeshow. I'd definitely stay here again.

    Mario2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome apt. Close to downtown. Quiet neighborhood. The restaurant and coffee shop r fantastic. Initially was sceptical about the neighborhood, but seeing the crowd put us at ease. Apt wasn't expensive, but with the fees added up, worked out more expensive than the hotel. So keep that in mind.

Cozy industrial/modern loft in the heart of LA Arts District. Close to DTLA, it's located near Little Tokyo village, convenient to metro but also very walkable to lots of cool shops, coffee/dessert places, cool restaurants, bars and local grocery stores. Full kitchen, bathroom, washer/dryer, desk, spacious closet, 65-inch flatscreen w/ AppleTV. Parking spot available inside attached structure and a foldable floor mattress if you need it. Cheers!
Near more of LA’s best clubs, bars, museums and galleries and restaurants like Bavel and Bestia. Dedicated parking spot inside the building’s parking structure also available. Right across the street is Urth Caffe, a local dog park and the DASH bus. Urban living with a neighborhood bicycle safety patrol and 24-hour building security. Ideal for single or couple, but there is a plushy couch and a foldable floor mattress.
Blue Bottle and Verve Coffee Roasters are walking distance. I love going to the Pie Hole to get a slice of Earl Grey Tea Pie after the farmer's market, or heading over to Little Tokyo to eat yummy Japanese food and get drinks. A 5-10 min drive will take you also to Chinatown where you can get a whole different cultural feel! You gotta try Howlin' Rays if you like spiciness and chicken, but be prepared to wait in a long line unless you get lucky!

  • Podshare was a fantastic place to arrive to after a 16 hour flight. The warehouse loft was spacious, the staff were friendly, the linen clean, and the kitchen a co cooperative, tidy space. Other travellers who were staying there were extremely friendly and considerate. The only criticisms I have was how limited space the bathroom is (nothing we can do about that as it is be expected as it is communal), and how the bunks are quite exposed, it would've been nice to have a curtain around the bunks to block out the sun, or make it easier to change clothes without having to go down stairs to the small, communal bathroom every time. All in all, this experience was very positive, if I were travelling alone next time, I'd definitely stay here.

  • The experience was very much much like a hostel but cleaner and the bed is super comfortable. The toilet and shower room are clean but a bit narrow. A lot of toiletries and necessities are made available for sharing. Checking in and out was super flexible and no hassle. Loved the location as well, parking was easy.

The space is quiet and great for knocking out work in a peaceful environment & that’s what I was able to accomplish. There are tons of great restaurants within a 5-20 minute drive. • Quick, clear responses, and accommodating! Phillip was willing to offer a more private space within the same facility and ensured that it was a better fit for the group. Would definitely rent again.

  • It's a very good location and large space!! Such a good trip experience?

    Lingshu2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • I was traveling with another artist for work. We loved the space. It is large and spacious with lots of natural light. we loved the sparseness of the space and it had air conditioning--which is great in the hot months of LA. The location was exactly what we hoped for, easy walk to coffee shops and certain galleries. Both beds were comfortable and we were able to cook, work and relax in the space between our many journeys out into the city. We will definitely return. Philip was easy to reach and fast at communication. Check-in and check-out were both super easy.

    Alex2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly spacious spot located in the arts district near Little Tokyo. Phillip was the most responsive host I've had and worked quickly to remedy issues and give local recommendations.

    Ryan2019-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Philip and his girlfriend were great hosts. Other than receiving incorrect check-in information, there isn’t many bad things to say about this place. It was very spacious and clean, but beware of the shower; the water pressure is kinda off. Located in a cool area in the arts district, the nearby shops were sick

    Selena2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great experience staying at Phillip’s loft. It was super specious and in a good location. There are several breweries and little shops at walking distance. The art district is so amazing and there’s so much art on the streets to admire. Parking was easy and we always found parking really close. Phillip is a great host and he responds to your messages really quickly.

    Lupe2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Phillip’s apartment is really cool! It’s located in a hip area with lots of beautiful murals, and the apartment itself has a huge amount of space and two recording studios (which we actually used!). That being said, the kitchen and bathroom are very basic, the fridge is a mini fridge, the tub’s handles are falling off, and the neighborhood can be sketchy at night. Neighborhood is definitely not the host’s fault, but the amenities could be a bit more up to standard.

Walking distance for many great spots. The roofs are high and the loft style makes the rooms look big, even more with the big windows everywhere. Don’t forget them if you’re used to hang around naked. It was easy to access and Karen explained everything we needed to know to make our trip easy. Would go again. Thanks Karen.

  • This place is adorable. Very chic, clean, simple, but very stylish. The bathrooms are both updated and it really has that “LA vibe”. The only issue we had is the Air Conditioning. It was not working when we checked in and it was not fixed until the afternoon on the previous day leaving us with no AC the first night and the better part of the day on the second day. It was fixed and then worked perfectly after that and Emily was very quick to get back to me with updates. Very close to everything and a ton of cool places to check out within walking distance.

  • Phillip was a great host!Very helpful, accurate and easy to reach. The apartment is in a great area in the heart of Arts District and you can find all the famous murals in a few minutes walk. Unfortunately the house wasn’t very clean and basic amenities were missing like toilet and kitchen paper. The people that stay there aren’t the friendliest so save your good (Website hidden by Airbnb) an ok apartment for having a sleep after a long day seeing LA in his comfortable beds

    Dimitra2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • First and foremost, I couldn't say enough great things about Phillip. He's communicative, friendly, and accommodating--all before you even arrive at the AirBnb. He checked in often leading up to the visit, accommodated our 6am flight time (not recommended), and made sure our stay would be as solid as possible. That said, let's talk about this room. 1) It's massive. It fits 2 beds, 2 couches, and there's still room to dance in between. 2) It's a little hard to find. Don't go knocking on other doors at 7am like me, it's a larger loft with rooms built inside, so you will have a few friendly neighbors. 3) This neighborhood. On the outside, it looks very industrial and "Downtown LA warehouse-y", but it's the perfect spot. Walk 2 blocks, and you have the incredibly LA Urrth Cafe waiting for you (try to Barcelona Latte, I'm still dreaming about it). Walk around and there's a lot of small, hip shops to spend your day at. And finally, if you're lucky, there'll be a few domes + lights + music set up 1.5 blocks away, you'll yolo a little one night and go, you'll buy tickets, you'll go inside, and you'll have the strangest, most memorable night of your life. Good luck. TL;DR Phillip is an all-star, the room is massive, go to random shows found 2 blocks away because you'll leave cooler than you did when you arrived. 5 stars.

    Nicolette2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Phillip’s loft is the best place in live in if you want to explore an newer/art area in LA downtown. The loft itself was clean and comfortable. Phillip is a great, thoughtful and friendly host, easy to communicate with. My friends and I all think there was more than expected. There’s lots of great food and shops around the area. Highly recommend this for Foodie and people who like taking unique photos! I would choose this again if I come back to La downtown. Thank you Phillip!

    Rita2018-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent space in an incredible part of LA. Very stylish, spacious, clean, playful. Yes the bathrooms are shared space with residents of the artist lofts next door, however this really was not a problem of any kind. The bathrooms were kept super clean, there was no queue for the bathroom at any time. The shower was great, the bathroom itself was spacious and lots of natural light. There was also another smaller shower/toilet room near by. The bed / living space was large open plan with two large beds and a sofa plus some other cool furniture and art. Free parking outside was fantastic. Area felt safe (enough) for arts district DTLA, with gas station for supplies (drinks/snacks etc) 2 minutes away. This space is very near to many excellent restaurants, bars, art gallery's, fashion stores (check out Dover Street Market just round the corner from the apartment) and a short drive away from down down. Though we did not meet this trip Philip was cool, relaxed and responsive whenever we communicated, which is what I always want from a host. We had a perfect stay. Will definitely be staying here again.

  • So far, so great! I am here for a summer internship downtown, to which this place is very convenient. I was so pleased after my first few days here that I extended my stay for the rest of my time in L.A. Thus far, it's terrific; I've found the premises exactly as described, and management has been responsive and helpful each time I've sent them a question. Note that gender-neutral bathrooms are available on the second floor.

  • It was a nice stay, the room was clean and simple. It's good for people who travel and spend most of the time outside and to sleep:)

  • I've never had an experience of luxury and professionalism till I stayed here. I'm almost at a loss of words. The location was near everything, the building was beautiful, the residence was jaw-dropping, service from beginning to end by Drew was better than most VIP treatments in Vegas. Top notch all around. Definitely coming back and recommending to everyone I know that's going to visit LA. Bravo!!!

  • Really nice place!

    Martin2018-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • By far the best out of town experience I’ve ever had and that’s all thanks to the host. This place is a must stay so if you see it available don’t pass it up!

    Noah2018-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with a group of friends and Drew was super accommodating and responsive! The space is really nice and spacious, would definitely recommend and come back. One of my favorite places to stay so far!

    Vanessa2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place is great! The decorations are amazing and the building it's self has an amazing floor plan also roof top BBQ area was a big plus! Waking up to the huge arch windows was spectacular! This was my first time here but not my last! Drew was helpful checking us in and explaining, everything went well! Thanks drew!

    Armin2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time I stay here and I loved my experience. If you're looking for a place to relax and feel at home this is definitely it. My friends and I had a "poolside BBQ" in the evening and it was perfect. There are several bbq's available on the rooftop with refrigerators so you can store drinks and enough seating for a group of 8+. Drew is also a very attentive host. Overall, I really appreciate the cleanliness of the loft and the open space.

    Tammy2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Drew was a great host , very understanding of my wants and needs and helping me get that. His place is amazing and designed perfectly. 10/10 would stay again. Perfect spot to have your next party

    Ryan2018-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Drew's place filled out needs for the night to have our entire group in one place. The location is great. Drew was very communicative and hospitable. The place gets pretty warm during the day, but cooled down enough to sleep at night.

  • Alex was a really nice guy, helpful, funny, charming. He is a very good guy. The residence is and old place but it's great, with a lot of people travelling alone and they are such a very interesting people. They are very polite and I hadn't any problem. I want to repeat my experience there, for shure!

  • The hostel is a good place for backpackers or young tourists, who want to meet interesting people and feel comfortable with simple furniture and facilities. The toilets and showers are used by all guests and need some refurbishment. The living room on the ground floor is nice and provides free internet access. If you need to do some asignments or work at home, the place might be to noisy and you may miss internet in your room. I stayed for two nights and I had a good time there. I meet some lovely persons and appreciated the guitar music from my neighbors appartment.

  • This place is great, for its price. Alex, the manager, is a great guy. The people there -both the short-term and the long-term residents are a great crowd. I'm very happy to have stayed there.

  • The hotel was just what I was looking for. Very minimal with no frills but everything you can need. Washer dryers downstairs and a common kitchen which was very clean. The feeling of old LA with none of those drawbacks. Very well located in Little Tokyo and very close to the metro were you can easily get anywhere in LA. Alex who oversees the place was very nice and heapful.

The Arts District is splashed with color in almost every way, including its famous painted facades, artist boutiques, renovated loft and warehouse spaces, shops and restaurants. Little Tokyo offers culture through its various local businesses. Artisan is also conveniently located to public transit and easy access to the 5, 10, 101 and 110. Check out some of our residents’ favorite spots near our building on the map below, but this neighborhood is truly worth seeing in person.
  • Great location. Sereounded by all funky and fancy plus artsy shops, food and drinks. The host was super friendly and professional, they were really considerate and nice. I would totally stay here again.

  • Staying with Don and Danielle made our first experience using airbnb so easy and enjoyable. They were amazing hosts. Although it was a shame that we didn't get to meet Don, his partner Danielle was awesome, so friendly and helpful. We really felt like we made a new friend in La. The room was nice and roomy and the bed very comfortable, it did feel very private and we were comfortable moving about. We would definitely stay here again next time we come to La. Thanks guys.

  • Don and his girlfriend are completely safe and friendly people. They made sure we were comfortable, were never noisy and were there when we needed anything. They also have a really cute dog, so for those who are allergic, make sure to not book this place. But for those who love dogs in general, this is a great place! LOL. The location is also within walking distance to Little Tokyo, which made it all the better. They offer quite a bit of toiletries, too. :)

Spacious modern artist's loft with exposed concrete and amazing views of the city. Centrally located in the heart of the Art's District with some of the best cafes, bars and restaurants in the city located within walking distance.
  • Micah was very quick in response and accommodating when we checked in. It was my first time using Airbnb but he made it comprehensive and stress free. I get to know the area, everything I needed was walking distance, very safe neighborhood. Thank you!

  • Micah is very responsive to all our questions and accommodating to our last minute change of plans and reservation dates. The loft is much bigger than we thought, was definitely a big plus, wonderful view of downtown LA!

    Ai-Ling2015-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! Top floor unit in the nicest building in the arts district. Fantastic views of downtown - both from the unit and from the stunning rooftop with Poland hot tub (that, strangely, nobody else in the building seemed to use while we were up there. So you'll likely have it to yourself much of the time.) Very comfortable bed as well as the sofa (which could probably sleep another person or two). Highly recommend!

    Ryan2015-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Micah really great, start to finish. He was able to quickly accommodate a different weekend when I realized I mis-entered the dates, and was in regular communication about all the details. The loft was really great too. Big, airy, great views of downtown and perfectly located in the Arts District. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The goal of my visit was to get to know the neighborhood, and this serve as the perfect home base to do so. Thanks Micah!

    Lydia2015-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a nice place to stay. Convenient location, and I know it's been said before, but... - gigantic - bathtub -... So nice. Micah was responsive but not intrusive in any way. His place is full of great movies, no doubt deciding which one to watch will be a challenge within itself. Overall this was pleasant, and the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped. I think you'll like it there.

    Joshua2015-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location downtown. Micah was a great host.

    Bruce2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Micah is the perfect host. The Arts District is now one of the hottest neighborhoods in Los Angeles. As an LA native, Micah will help you discover and experience the very best this city has to offer. The loft is enormous with a creative vibe and stunning views. The building is one of the best in DTLA, a perfect location and ridiculous rooftop. You will not be disappointed!

    Paula2016-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Micah was a lovely host, very easy to communicate with & accommodating. My friends & I didn't get into town until 1am, and he was willing to meet us late, give us a tour of the building (which is AMAZING. The pool on the roof is fantastic. Pictures don't do it justice), hang out for any questions & let us get comfortable. His building is right in the heart of the arts district, so very interesting part of town to explore as a pedestrian. But you can get lost just wandering. I'd recommend having a plan. He put together a great list of recommendations for breakfast, bars, restaurants in the area, & we used it a lot. Plenty of things were walkable, and others were an easy cab or Uber to get to. I was also really thankful for the Urth Café right across the street, for food. I never saw a grocery store or place to stock the fridge, so that came in handy. But it'd be smart to buy a little home picnic & better enjoy his rooftop. The bed was comfortable (or so my friends said) & he had an air mattress, which I was thankful for. Overall, everything was very comfortable & Micah is a lovely host.

  • This place was exactly as described! Really old finish, and never felt exactly "clean" even though they cleaned daily! A lot of the guests would leave the bathroom in shambles, which would make it difficult. And twice there was a homeless issue where a woman tried to follow me in the apartment, and another where a guy was walking the hallways talking to himself and a woman said he was scratching at her door. They said it was a rare occurrence. The area is either very hipster, very homeless, or very asian. Depending on which direction you go.

  • Best place for the best value

    Antoine2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • do not rent in that place, they are scammers, things do not work, they do not clean the rooms, the windows are dirty, the washing and drying machines do not work, and also the owner is a violent man who threatens the people who rent. If you look at the reviews of all the places I've stayed, they're all excellent. Ask yourself why?

    Sebastian2018-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great value place with a couple minute walk to the Little Tokyo Train Station. A lot of convenient places to buy dinner and groceries nearby. The room got pretty hot due to the LA heat & sun but had a personal AC in the room to compensate, which i thought was good. I would suggest bringing a pair of indoor slippers to wear while walking around the place, and your own pillow / blanket if you want to be more comfortable during the night. Laundry + Dryer cost $1.50 in quarters each.

    Liam2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Très bien situé, sécurisé, avec de nombreux équipements communs. Arrivée et départ très rapides et pratiques. Chambre propre à la réception. Seuls points négatifs, le bruit de la rue et la chaleur qui s’installe rapidement. Je recommande

    Octave2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Living here was an experience! Jay and Alex are really kind and always helpful. The dorm is in a great location, and for that, I will definetly stay here again if I will be in LA again.. The dorm is not so clean: there's a lot of dust and dirt upstairs and on the stairs, except for the living room and the kitchen, wich are cleaned almost every day. The bathroom and the shower are cleaned every day too, if you found them dirty, is because some people are not respectful... My bedroom was good, unfurnished with only the sink and the wardrobe..If you are long term, like 3 mnth or plus, I recommend to buy a small fridge because the one shared is very full of food and a little gross.. I was pretty lucky with the location of the bedroom in front of the street, because during the night is chilly..but during the day if is hot is impossible to stay in without a fan. A lot of morning noise as bus, metro and car wash, but you get used to it.. Internet is veeeeeeeeery slow even downstairs.. I was lucky to meet nice and friendly people in the house, but most of them they really don't want to talk..specially if they are long term. In the end, good place to stay because of the great location and cheap! I will come back again! :)
