You will have the chance join me and other tango dancers at a local milonga—tango parlor. We always have great seats in the middle of all the action. You will learn about the history of tango and the secret codes and rules of the milonga. We will hear amazing tango music and watch the locals dance around the floor. We may even be surprised with live music or a performance by professional dancers.

If you are interested in having some tango lessons before we start our experience, please let me know.

I'm a milonguera—in the world of tango, that simply means I am a person that attends milongas socially. I am originally from the United States and have been in Buenos Aires for over four years now. One of my favorite things to do is introduce people to the secret world of tango that most tourists miss. Occasionally, my good friend Rafael assists me in hosting the experiences. I hope you allow us to be your guides into the world of milongas.

We started our experience with a tango lesson. Jamila and Rafael were very welcoming, friendly and gave us some good instruction. Then we went to a local Milonga and watched local people dance. It was lovely to see the level of tango being danced here compared to where we live in Australia. I would have liked to be able to dance more myself, but am bit yet advanced enough to keep up with the locals - next time.

Jamila offered a wonderful and rich tour in to the world of Buenos Aries' Tango. Not only did Jamila take us into this unique and special part of Buenos Aries life and tradition but she was the perfect guide explaining the dance, the history, the music, the venues and the people. Great Tango Insider Experience. Jamila was not available- so a friend Raphael took over . Before going to the Milonga we had a 45 min intro into Tango Argentino in Jamila’s apartment where the Tango Studio is the living room. Jamila is an experienced Tango dancer and has deep knowledge of the local Milongas as well as other Tango related events and general information about Buenos Aires. Highly recommend her program(s) and that she is also flexible in customizing to your interests. She can take you to a show which is more pre-organized and professional performers or to a local event where regular people partake and dance. She can also combine any of these with a typical dinner experience if you are interested for a full and rich evening.
