On this cultural journey through Central Park & the UWS, we’ll explore the city’s rich Cuban heritage through art, food, & culture.
I like to break down the experience into 3 artistic/cultural sites & 3 samplings of Cuban cuisine, which I combine for a total of 3 mini experiences.
1st - We’ll get to know each other over a delicious cafecito (Cuban espresso made with love) near the statue of Cuban independence hero José Martí in Central Park.
2nd - We’ll try some fresh-cut sugarcane near a gorgeous mural of a traditional sugarcane harvest at the former site of Victor’s Cafe, the city’s first Cuban restaurant.
3rd - We’ll visit one of New York’s last authentic Cuban-Chinese restaurants, where we’ll eat some of the best maduros (Afro-Cuban sweet plantains) I’ve ever tasted.
So get ready to experience NYC...a lo cubano!
Other things to note
- Make sure to bring comfortable walking shoes and a bottle of water.
- Can't find a time that works? Message me and I'll be happy to accommodate!

Hola mi gente! I’m Chris Vázquez, or “CubanoChris” on social. I’m a 3rd generation Cuban American whose passion is leveraging the power of culture to build community between Cubans & Cuban Americans.
I grew up in the heart of the Cuban exile community in Miami, but the further away I moved, the more closely I identified with my cultural heritage.
This culminated with my move to NYC, and since then I’ve dedicated myself to exploring Manhattan's rich Cuban roots, sharing them with others, and bringing that lost cultural element back…so here we are!

¿Qué Pasa, USA? Outstanding Cuban heritage NYC tour! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. I enjoyed this cultural journey through NYC. It's very special and unique from other tours. It's a must for anyone visiting NYC. Like many other reviewers have said, Chris is very friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and very passionate. He made me feel personally welcome and we got to know about each other’s lives. I was surprised to learn many new things about NYC and it's Cuban heritage. He has a very deep understanding of the topic and provided rare insights and perspectives. I wouldn’t have been able to do this on my own. The tour is very engaging and you get to try a few Cuban treats. ¡ Muy Delicioso ! We definitely need a Chris tour in every American city.

Chris was amazing. His story was so heartfelt and really pulled you in. I had no idea about the Cuban culture in NYC, but Chris showed us how a couple hours can educate and connect us all. His personal touch throughout was appreciated and made it unique and personal. If you are looking for an intimate and interactive tour that combines food, culture, and NYC, this is it!
