The surf lesson is 1.5 hours long. We'll do 10 minutes of instruction on the beach and the remaining 80 minutes surfing in the water.
We'll meet at the beach, which ever is good for you. Talk surf and safety, practice paddling and pop-ups on the beach, then get in the water and put it all together. I'll swim out with you, put you into position, and push you into some waves. You'll be surfing your very first wave in no time!
Other things to note
Surf lessons are available everyday from 8am-8pm.
Just let me know me know when you would like to go.

Transportation is available for a small fee.

Welcome to surfing in New York! New York has surfing? It does, and it's quite good! My name is Ashley Mangels. I have been living and surfing on Long Island all my life and I've been giving surf lessons to the young and old for the last ten years. We have great surf and beautiful beaches here in NY and I look forward to helping you catch your first waves. I am CPR and first aid certified and know all the best spots to learn to surf.
If you know how to surf and just want to surf all the best local spots we can do that too!

A good surfing morning. A short explanation. Just enough to get us going. And then out into the waves and very professionally guided to our feet on our boards. Fun, friendly, charming, and relaxed.

Ashley was the best! He was a fantastic teacher and worked very hard to make sure we had a great time and got up on our boards! I've already recommended him to friends and we're definitely hoping to get back out there this summer!

Ashley is a professional surfer. He’s very patient and has a positive attitude. I enjoyed so much the class today. He was very kind and met me closer to where I was staying. I told Ashley that I was not going to surf because it was cold. He said he was just going to show me the wetsuits he had brought. Somehow I felt very confident and boy are those wetsuits warm! Excellent experience I recommend 100% surfing with Ashley!

It’s been amazing. Ashley was so kind to pick me up at Howard beach to get to Rockaway beach. He is very knowledgeable and has a ton of experience in surfing. The equipment is on level, so you won’t be uncomfortable in any way. Ash was glad to surf with me and guide for full 2 hours, maybe even more, until it got completely dark. Can’t describe it with words!
