We'll briefly go over the origin of geometric and Islamic patterns while marvelling at pictures of beautiful works.
Next we'll get right into it, we'll use a compass and ruler to design and draft our patterns.
After that, we'll paint using beautiful watercolours on canvas boards.
Finally we'll finish off our masterpieces with touches of gold, silver or copper if desired.
Other things to note
This is a family friendly activity. You do not need any previous experience and you don't have to be an artist to do this workshop.

I'm a Montreal-based artist with a special focus on Islamic pattern design. I've traveled to Morocco, Spain and Turkey to study these designs. I conduct weekly workshops and can teach you how to go from a blank sheet of paper to a wonderful masterpiece!

This location is in the heart of Montreal's Plateau area. There are all kinds of shops around and it is bustling. We'll be able to have a cup of coffee or tea while painting our masterpieces.

I booked this experience for my mom, sisters and myself and we absolutely loved it. We had so much fun and felt ultra relaxed throughout and at the end of the drawing and painting session. It was amazing to do something completely different that what we are used to and Sumayyah really guided us through the whole thing. She is super friendly and easy to get along with, and also just a great teacher. She even brought vegan snacks when I mentioned that my sisters and I were vegans! The cost is really low for the quality of the experience and you can tell she is doing it because she loves sharing her passion! thanks again Sumayyah!
