At only five miles from the popular John o Groats signpost, Jo and Karina would love to welcome you at one of three cozy self-catering glamping pods at The Crofter's Snug - lots of local area info on our website. Located at the top of Scotland you'll enjoy one of the best views in the area - even the locals are envious! One mile off the popular NC500 tourist route, our two pods and a Shepherd's Hut offer peace and quiet in an idyllic location with some amazing sunrises, sunsets and starry skies.

The Hide - off-grid-ish woodland cabin near NC500

The Hide is a super get-away for anyone travelling around Scotland on the NC500 or on your own adventure looking for a unique stay. Almost off-grid, it has a comfy bed, central woodburner and spectacular view. It's the perfect stepping stone towards the full off-grid experience, intended for people who are curious about living the off-grid lifestyle but also like to be able to charge their phone, boil a kettle and have a hot shower! The Armadilla Pod comfortably sleeps two guests which can convert from 2 twin/ 1 double bed. Cairn Pod is equipped to a high standard with private parking and luxury home comforts.

Croft cottage, 334 Kinnauld, refurbished in 2021 is situated in the heart of the Highlands, a 5 minute drive from A9 and North Coast 500 route. 50 miles north of the Highland capital Inverness and a 15-minute drive to Dornoch. The perfect stop for those interested in walking, cycling or wildlife. This quiet and tranquil cottage is surrounded by magnificent scenery and wide-open spaces. In Sutherland you can enjoy fantastic beaches, distilleries, castles, golf courses, and much more.

Our quirky, cute shepherd's hut sits in a semi-wild orchard next to our house, and near to an historic mill. It is ideal for one or two people and comes equipped with a comfortable double bed, a folding table, a small kitchen area with a microwave, kettle and toaster and a tiny private bathroom, with a hot shower. Outside, the decking provides a space to relax. The BBQ provides an option for dinner. Drinking water is from a tap on the side of the hut.

With views to the Dornoch Firth this light and airy, self-contained, one bed apartment is situated in a quiet and leafy no-through road serving a small number of residential properties. The centre of Dornoch and the Royal Dornoch Golf Club is a ten minute walk. The expanse of sandy beach and dunes is approximately, a fifteen minute walk. It is perfectly situated as a pit-stop for the NC500 or as a base to enjoy the hills, glens and coastline.

A unique and beautiful Shepherd's Hut on the Black Isle. Specifically commissioned by Black Isle Brewery, the hut is in the middle of our organic brewery farm. The brewery sits on one side with organic farmland, farmhouse and vegetable patch on the other. You are 10 minutes from Inverness by car and 20 minutes from Inverness airport. Please note that the hut doesn't have wifi but we have books and games to keep you
