Our 1914 cottage has weathered many storms and stands tall with charm. She is well loved and lived in. We have chickens pecking, ducks waddling through the gardens, sun shining through our stained glass, spiders spinning webs, paint drips, palmetto bugs, an old swing in the front yard, cats napping, Spanish moss in the trees, and a screened-in porch to take in the beauty of a long day's sunset. Our island homestead is for those looking for a down-to-earth stay with nature & art close at hand. ♥

It is known to be the closest Harkers Island Home to Shackleford Banks, at less than 2 miles. Cape Lookout Lighthouse is in clear view! Fishing, hunting, shelling & other water adventures are all at your fingertips. The Dollar General Store is walking distance and Billy's Grocery is less than 1 mile.

The Yates Cottage

Welcome to the beauty and nature of Core Sound! The Yates Cottage is directly on the water and is designed for spectacular views of Core Sound and Cape Lookout Lighthouse with large windows on 3 sides. Other amenities are a large screen porch, fire pit, and a large yard for lawn games. The Yates cottage is great for couples, families, dogs, joggers, walkers, bikers, fishers and boaters. You will be welcomed with freshly-made beds, towels and a full kitchen with Keurig and Rachel Ray cookware.

Home updates done in spring of 2024 include- entire interior painted, popcorn ceilings removed and other drywall repairs, new ceiling fans and interior lighting, and more! House is stocked with plenty of kitchen necessities and other conveniences so all you need to do is show up ready to relax!
