Nestled in the picturesque Dorset countryside, this charming Portland stone cottage offers a quintessential English retreat. Set within the grounds of a historic Old Rectory, the property is surrounded by rolling hills, lush meadows, and the tranquil River Frome, providing an idyllic spot for a holiday. It is all on one level,we are able to rent out the whole cottage also which creates an additional 2 bedrooms for extended family - we rarely rent this out to another party and is mostly empty.

Conveniently, there are two delightful pubs: the Three Horseshoes Inn and The Marquis of Lorne only a short walk away, but not a village shop.

The wood room retreat is in the wooded area of our forest garden at Merriott House. Very private and quiet. Birdsong. Silence. The kitchen is simple and light and now has walls to make it a bit more cosy. Separate bathroom across the garden with shower and toilet for sole use of cabin residents. Washing machine available. . Electric power in bedroom and kitchen. Please ensure visiting dogs are kept under control. Our piano is available for guest use in the main house

The former artists’ studio in a converted barn in Thomas Hardy’s West Dorset - close to Chesil Beach and the wonderful Jurassic Coast.
