Peasenhall is a super village in perfect Suffolk countryside close to the Heritage coast. White Sheep Cottage is hugely historic - lots of beams, lime plaster and wide boards but plenty of 21st century luxuries too and set amidst extensive gardens. Check us out on Trip Advisor.
The holiday cottage mixes ancient and modern to create a vibe which feels cool and modern with an abundance of exposed raw oak timbers and wide floorboards......lovely light through largely 17th century windows and lime plastered walls finished in a palette of Farrow and Ball whites to complement the taupes, greys and chocolate of the timbers and floors.
Cool bathrooms have fittings from Bette and Bathstore whilst the kitchen offers every convenience including double oven, halogen hob, microwave, panini maker, juicer, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. Guests are welcome to use the washing machine and tumble dryer provided, though city dwellers may enjoy the simple luxury of line-dried laundry!
Beds and pillows are high quality, bed linen and towels are of pure Egyptian cotton, crockery, cutlery, glasses and cookware are plentiful and pleasing. There is wifi broadband, central heating for cooler days and fans for hot summer nights. Books, maps and games are all provided, as are basic provisions and a bottle of wine to welcome you. Outside there is a pretty, private garden and terrace with dining furniture and a barbeque, whilst the wild flower meadow with wildlife pond, bike store, drive and parking areas bordered by hedges and a tributary of the River Yox are shared with Black Sheep Cottage next door. Views are either rural or of the church and village.
Sheep Cottages are the proud winner of a Travel Advisor Certificate of Excellence.
Upstairs are three bedrooms. Two have king sized beds and generous ensuite shower rooms, whilst the third with two single beds, is very cute and cosy. It uses the large family bathroom which has a double ended tub.
Downstairs is a huge kitchen with inglenook fireplace, central island, squishy white leather sofa and fabulous 16th century panelling. Opposite is the dining room, low ceilinged and intimate, and beyond is the triple aspect sitting room. French windows open to the terrace and South and West facing garden, which is fenced to make it safe for small children.
Guests have self-contained access to the entire cottage and its private garden - lawned area surrounded by lavender, gravel garden full of herbs, and in season bluebells, narcissi, roses, clematis and wisteria - and a South and West facing terrace with a table, chairs and umbrellas seating 6, as well as a further table for two in the gravel garden. In addition there is shared access to the drive and parking area and the wildflower meadow, pond areas, wild garden and bike shed.

I may not necessarily be around but am always available by phone, text or email and my neighbours are kind, helpful and friendly. In addition the Guest Info file contains a plethora of useful stuff about the cottage, village and locality. There are walking and cycling guides.

White Sheep Cottage is let by the full week, usually Friday-to Friday, during peak seasons such as Xmas, NY, half-term, Easter, and Summer holiday periods. Outside peak weeks I can often offer Friday to Monday long weekends and Monday to Friday midweek breaks with the chance of odd durations on request depending on the availability of housekeeping staff. Depending on season a full week costs from £630 to £1000, and a long weekend or midweek break from £477 to £570. A booking form supplied by me must be filled out and returned, and there is a £250 Good Housekeeping deposit.
White Sheep is strictly no smoking; pets, however well-behaved, cannot be accepted; no more than 6 guests are allowed at the property; and I wouldn't be that thrilled if you threw chocolate mousse at the white lime plastered walls......other than that I'm really easy-going :-)
