Carmel & I are wildlife experts & permaculture consultants. For 20 years I have broadcast a live-to-air wildlife segment for ABC North Coast Local Radio 94.5 FM called Wildlife Wednesday at 6.40 am every week of the year. I have to identify every species instantly from listener's descriptions. We have always shared our knowledge with the wider community & we offer guests the opportunity to spend time with us. Our property sits within the only wildlife corridor that stretches from the ocean to the mountains in North-eastern New South Wales. Guests can either relax privately in this bush & beach setting with no one else around them or can walk with Gary & view the different forest communities & animals that exist around the property. These include coastal cypress & hoop pine forests & giant banksia forests that have survived from the Jurassic age. Koala inhabited eucalypt forest, rainforest & paperbark wetlands with swamp wallabies surround Aboriginal ceremonial sites. Listen to the stories that are associated with the beginning of the Song Lines that start each morning from this eastern-most locality & continue throughout the rest of the continent.
We like to live in a natural unpolluted forested environment where we can daily observe the wildlife & listen only to the natural sounds of bird song & ocean waves. This area is unique for its perfect subtropical climate, rich volcanic soils, remarkable biodiversity & United Nations listed World Heritage ancient Gondwana rainforest national parks within half an hour's drive from our property adjacent the undeveloped nature reserve beaches of Byron Bay. We can advise guests on the surrounding towns, including the 15 minutes drive to Brunswick Heads, the least developed coastal town in northern NSW. One can dine with beautiful river views, nightlife at the Brunswick Head Hotel and the historic 1952 Brunswick Picture House. We are 35 minutes drive south of the Coolangatta Gold Coast Airport. We are within a 20 minutes drive of the Tweed Art Gallery / Margaret Olley exhibition and the Murwillumbah Rainforest Information Centre. We are within a 30 minutes drive of Mullumbimby, Crystal Castle, Bangalow and Byron Bay.
