In circumstances like these, we lean into the integrity we’ve maintained, 200+ 5 star reviews (on multiple platforms), and 3 years we’ve gladly spent supporting over 300 great vacation stays in our wonderful town.
Harvey and Guillerimina were by far our worst guests, and we say this without reservation. They left our property in shameful condition and should be extremely embarrassed in how they impacted our family and small business. We provided them with an immaculately clean vacation home and upon check-out we were in disbelief of the indescribable volume of mud, dirt, rocks and food that was left all over the property. They left open boxes of cereal, dirty cups filled with coffee and full cartons of milk on our record player/antique dresser, cereal/trash/dirt/rocks/mud was scattered throughout the home. They purchased laundry detergent which we can only assume was used to wash their hiking gear. Since we do not have a washer/dryer, our assumption is that they did so in the shower or sink since the laundry detergent was found in the shower and the lid under the bathroom sink in a puddle of detergent soap. The floor was soaked from water running out of the sink/shower. The back window was left (not cracked) but completely open which would have made it easy for anyone to enter our property. Our priceless vanity also had a burn mark on it. Our neighbors also stated that several of their friends were entering and leaving our property despite the signed lease stating no one other than Harvey and Guillerimina were to be in the property at any time. None of the check-out instructions were followed at check-out.
We confronted Harvey in person about the terrible condition in which he and Guillermina left our property. For awareness, we have never done this, nor felt so compelled to do so until now. His comments about our interaction are completely falsified. We did not, nor would we ever raise our voices in public. He attempted to justify his treatment of our property, even with an overwhelming preponderance of facts. One of the most shocking justification statements (of many) was, “C’mon this is Damascus.” As if, because of our town’s size/makeup/location/what have you, he is entitled to treat a person’s property the way he did. He also stated that he has stayed in over 100 Mariott Hotels and thats how hotels are treated.
It’s extremely disappointing that an individual would treat a small business in the manner that Harvey and Guillermina did.
We have reached out to all the properties in town and notified them of how our property was left by these guests.
