Top floor apartment with a view to the mountains from every window. Close to everything and heaps of room to breathe. Private balcony and private bathroom / toilet for your exclusive use.
“Paradise Park” is in the suburb of Parramatta Park, situated on the fringe of Cairns City. It’s close to everything you need and is generously proportioned, so you’ll have heaps of room to breathe. The building is a residential building, not a tourist hub, so you’ll have a chance to experience how life is for people who call Cairns home, not just a holiday spot.
Within 5 minutes walk you have all the basics; an amazing sushi place, a Thai food takeaway, 24 hour Coles express, a great massage parlour, the Cairns Showgrounds, secluded walking paths/bike tracks that go through rainforest reserve.
Within 10 minutes walk, you have access to Cairns Central, with all the major shops, a cinema, lots of eating options. We’re also pretty close to the Green Ant Cantina, if you’d like the best Mexican food in town, or perhaps to sample their amazing beer which is brewed on-site.
It’s a 20 minute walk to the Cairns Esplanade, which is the heart of waterfront living in Cairns. This is where you’ll find the night markets, amazing local restaurants, bars and clubs, the Cairns lagoon, my favourite ice creamery and beautifully landscaped walking / cycle paths along the waterfront. It’s always full of energy, and is one of the most beautiful places to visit at sunset.
On your way to the esplanade, you'll cross the beautiful Lilly Creek, discover the Cairns Aquarium, Munro Martin Parklands, Cairns Civic Centre (amazing big name performers perform here), and the Centre of Contemporary Arts (which is free to experience).
“Paradise Park” is a two bedroom unit in a residential complex. The complex has a pool on the ground level which you are free to use, and all other amenities are contained in the apartment. this includes laundry and cooking facilities. You’re free to use these anytime you need.
The apartment faces north westerly, but is situated with a corner aspect, so your room faces to the east. You’ll be able to see the Yarrabah mountain range from your private balcony, and watch the sun rise in a spectacular manner as it inches it’s way over the mountains. We are on the 3rd floor, so you can also see the treetops of all the trees in Cairns City, and the tops of most major buildings too.
The bed is a super-comfortable queen sized bed, with a latex topped mattress. All bedding and towels are provided. You get exclusive use of the bathroom, toilet and shower facilities, which are tucked away from the living area. You’ll have plenty of privacy as these facilities are situated at the door to your bedroom.
Your room has it’s own air conditioner and fan, so you can get comfortable during your stay. The glass doors slide all the way open on your balcony to let in fresh air too, if that’s more your style. There’s lots of storage space in the room for your luggage and any items you might need to hang up.
The shared living space is very open, and separates your wing of the residence from my bedroom. There’s a open plan kitchen, living and dining space with large glass doors that open onto the balcony. The outdoors is invited in, with lots of breeze and the sounds of birds singing. I only close the doors at night when I'm about to go to bed, for security. The warm weather all year around in Cairns means that the borders between the outdoors and indoors can be somewhat blurred.
You’ll be able to sit at the dining table on the balcony and enjoy a cool beverage while you watch the sun gently dip behind the Macallaster mountain range, which separates Cairns from the Atherton Tablelands. In my opinion, “Paradise Park” has the best seats in the house for this.

I take every opportunity I can to spend time with my friends, often inviting people over for a coffee or a wine before heading out for dinner. I love that my home is filled with good vibes from all my friends visiting and hope that sharing my home with you will add to the social atmosphere.
Smoking allowed on the balcony only
3rd floor apartment, must be able to use stairs (there is no lift in the building)
Hi! I'm your host, Andrew.
I'm in my early 30’s and work full time in the emergency services. I spend my free time getting outdoors, enjoying cycling, motor biking, bush walking, jogging and swimming. When the sun goes down and I can't do all those outdoor activities, I am involved with our local community radio station, hosting a weekly program, Empty Closet Radio. Since moving to Cairns from Melbourne, I’ve also learned to appreciate lazy afternoons in the sunshine at the beach during winter, and the cool refreshing feeling of swimming in a waterfall during summer.
I grew up in Melbourne, so sipping a latte while listening to kookaburras greet the day before cycling off to work was just part of everyday life. When I came to visit Cairns a few years ago, I absolutely fell in love with the place. I couldn't believe there was a place where the city, the forest and the ocean all came together so beautifully. I visited many times before deciding to make the big move, and haven't looked back since. I'm glad to report that I can still hear and see the kookaburras in the morning and still enjoy my cycle to work, but perhaps the quality of the coffee has slipped.
I lead a varied and active life, with a passion for helping people. I work and volunteer for several community organisations with a focus on helping others. I'm particularly passionate about caring for our Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Intersexual and Queer brothers and sisters. My work has me coming and going from the apartment at varied times, so you might only see me briefly! My old flatmate said she never saw me during the work week!
