Set in the beauty of a man made lake, this lot has a stunning view. Providing a beautiful dock, a fire pit and a nostalgic lake-facing porch, every view of the lake is stunning. The timber built cabin reflects a bygone era: antlers as door handles, two large deer mounts, and beautiful walls. Containing three bedrooms (queen+trundle+futon), there a very few places possessing greater character between early May through late September. A delightful trip.
We had a wonderful time here. The cabin is tucked away in a wooded area, but it offers beautiful views of the lake. Bruce and Kathie are wonderful hosts who make sure you are comfortable and well cared for. The cabin is rustic, but full of charm. We enjoyed our stay there tremendously.
Bruce and Kathie responded to any questions by phone/email quickly and were there waiting for us on arrival. A unique, interesting log cabin with lots of room. The structure of the inside of the cabin and doors is just fascinating to look at - I never stayed in a place like this before. The place has history and character. If you want the feeling of camp, with the benefits of electricity, a simple kitchen and a full bath (claw foot tub/shower), then this is the place for you. It was wooded on one side of the cabin, and there were some other small houses/cabins along the road on the other side. We didn't see or hear any other people while there, aside from some boats passing by. A picnic table and porch leave plenty of seating to eat and relax. It was fun to sit around the large fire pit outside (you may want to bring some extra wood if you plan on an extended stay). The propane grill worked great, and Bruce and Kathie left all the essentials for breakfast - coffee, juice, milk, bread and butter, cereal, etc. Small solar lights and candles outside make it nice at night. We stayed with our family with kids ages 3-12 over the weekend in August. They all loved it, and were very comfortable. The water of Rushford Lake is far enough from the camp that you don't need to worry about little ones getting in there unattended, but close enough for a view. It is best to take little kids to the public beach nearby, since shore near the cabin is steep and water is deep. But there is access to water for dock fishing older kids/adults. I would definitely go back and stay here. It was a place to remember, and exceeded my expectations. An ideal spot just to sit and talk and play cards with family or friends. If you are traveling through Caneadea and need a spot to rest and sleep, or if you are looking for some peace and quiet, this would be a great place to stay!
