A small barn conversion in an idyllic setting in the Northern Fells, Lake District. You will have your own little cottage. Completely self contained with a kitchen/living area. A small bathroom and two bedrooms upstairs. One double & one small twin. Spacious enough for 4 adults. Relax and enjoy!
We have just installed a new kitchen downstairs incorporated into the living area which has a dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, cooker and hob. Very well equipped for all your cooking needs. A small bathroom with hand basin & loo. Hand held power shower. Upstairs one good sized double bedroom with chest of drawers, bed side tables and lamps. Lined curtains. One small twin bedded room with full sizes single beds, bed side tables with lamps, black out blind and lined curtains. Crisp white Egyptian cotton bed linen on all beds and down duvets. Towels are also provided. Built in cupboard/wardrobe on the landing. The cottage sleeps 4 adults comfortably. Or perfect for a couple with one or two children. Or just a couple or 4 friends. Plenty of storage in a hanging cupboard in hall upstairs and large chest of drawers in double room. The bathroom is downstairs. A terrace with table and 4 chairs. You will be totally independent or if you wish we can advise on walks and the area. This is great walking country and you can choose to climb the famous fells or just meander around one of the beautiful lakes. My husband is very knowledgeable about the mountains and fells and can advise on walks, cycle rides and climbs. We have our own co-operative pub in the village, The Old Crown which serves it's famous Hesket Newmarket beers brewed in their own brewery behind the pub. They serve dinner (not Mondays!) and great Sunday lunch. Always pre book if you want dinner. We are also close to The Mill Inn in Mungrisedale which serve good food and very child friendly as well as The Boot and Shoe in Greystoke. And one of our new favourites The Horse & Farrier in Threkeld. This part of the world is foodie heaven. Great local produce is widely available and there are wonderful places to dine within a half an hours drive. Our nearest supermarkets are in Penrith, huge choice; Cranstons Food Hall for upmarket produce and fresh meats. Aldi, Morrisons, Booths and Sainsburys. Keswick for independent Co-op. And Booths an upmarket supermarket again selling local produce. The pub is within walking distance. A 15 min walk down the lane into the village. Or over the style and through the fields which takes about 25 minutes. Or a 2 min drive.
Your own front door. A hallway with boot rack and coat hooks. A kitchen/living room. Comfy sofa and two armchairs. Dining table seats 4. A downstairs bathroom with bath, hand held power shower, wash basin & loo. Upstairs one spacious double bedroom, double bed, chest of drawers, bedside tables & bedside lamps and desk. Lined curtains. As we are not here all the time, ( we live in London & Cumbria ), at the moment we will only have guests when we are around. Also please note the price per night is for two people sharing the double bedroom. If you want both bedrooms, i.e. two/three friends then please make sure you book fo(URL HIDDEN)3/4 people. I can't stipulate this on the pricing section. Then make it clear when you contact me who you are and how many people, relationships etc. Then I know when preparing the rooms! There is no television but we have plenty of DVDs which you are welcome to borrow to watch on your lap tops. There is free Wifi. Although I suspect not strong enough to stream films. Our mobile signal is now very good. I will provide some breakfast provisions including bread, eggs, milk etc when I am there. You will also find salt, pepper, olive oil etc in the cupboards. Please let me know if you have any particular dietary requirements. And I will happily accommodate them. We welcome you to this very special part of the world and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Please respect our lovely home and keep it clean. No walking boots or outdoor shoes to be worn in the house. There is a boot rack next to the front door. And no shoes upstairs please. It is fully carpeted upstairs. We strictly request that no pets on the furniture or upstairs. If your dog is used to going upstairs at home and you will find it tricky to keep them downstairs then this cottage may not be suitable! Children are very welcome. We have a large garden (a work in progress!) with a swing a shallow stream and a trampoline at the far end. But you must use this at your own risk. Smoking is allowed outside only please. Please take all your recycling, glass, paper, card and plastics to the recycling bins on the road to the B5305. ( through Millhouse and then down the hill on the right). And please tie up and place all rubbish in large green bin next to gate.
We will be delighted to advise on walks and the area. We are keen walkers and my husband and children are aslo climbers and very keen road cyclists. Maps are provided for your use. Very happy to invite you to join us for drinks in the evening. Supper can be provided if needed. Can also advise and book any restaurants, theatre tickets etc. You can be as private as you wish as you are not overlooked ( no neighbours except us in cottage next door) and apart from the sheep and the odd tractor, it is very peaceful. Sit back and relax!
I am an actress & mother of three children. Two now off at University/College and one working a ski season in the French Alpes. My husband works from home and he and the boys are keen road cyclists and skiers. I love the theatre and we are keen movie goers. We are a busy family but you will have plenty of peace and quiet and we always find time for a chat and a cup of tea! You will mostly find us cooking in the evenings and sitting round the kitchen table with a glass in hand!!
