Villa Marguerita in Port Barton, Palawan, Philippines is a simple beachfront holiday home and accommodation. The whole experience at here will be relaxing from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. Island hopping, swimming, boating, fishing, walks to the several nearby waterfalls, bush walks, Bar-B-Cues on uninhabited islands, are just to name a few of the possible activities. There are few places in the world like Villa where you can vacation with your family or loved ones.

Most of our guests take our recommendation and are met at Puerto Princesa airport or their hotel by our regular and trusted driver who can take them either in a 7 or 12 seater van up the highway to our home in Port Barton. We recommend booking early flights to Palawan, and late flights back to Manila. This allows our guests to add the side trip to visit the famous Underground River either on the way to, or from Port Barton. We can organise our regular driver to meet our guests at any time and place. He is available 24 hours a day. Public transport options direct to Port Barton are available and are cheaper but much less convenient.
Villa Marguerita is a 3 bedroom private beachfront home available to take up to 8 guests. We do not rent individual rooms and we do not accept walk in guests looking for meals and drinks. The house, property and amenities are rented as a whole. You can make yourself at home in the kitchen, use the fridges for your drinks, make your own drinks too if you like, otherwise we can do it all for you.

Guests have access to the whole property including the house, our fully equipped kitchen, entertainment area, cabana, tree house for kids, paddle boats and kayaks, sun loungers, pool table and table tennis table. Our 2 new Stand Up Paddle Boards are available for exclusive use of our guests.

Our managers at Villa Marguerita are available to assist you with meals, house keeping, baby sitting, and the use of our amenities. Our staff are available on call or they can leave you to do your thing.

Villa Marguerita is located centre beach in the little village of Port Barton which is situated between the Underground River and El Nido. Trips to both the Underground River and El Nido can be arranged either by boat, or, for the less adventurous, by air conditioned van.

Villa Marguerita is in a remote area of Palawan, known as the last frontier of the Philippines. Our boatmen are available to take our guests on fishing trips and island hopping. Prices are available by application, but as a guideline, expect to pay $15usd per person for an Island Hopping day trip with a beach barbecue lunch provided. A minimum price will apply for small groups. You won't need a car at Villa Marguerita. Most people walk or take a boat anywhere they want to go.
We offer a package rate for guests that book for a minimum 7 night stay, which includes daily breakfasts and an island hopping day trip with a beach barbecue lunch included. Our guests rate the island hopping highly in our reviews on Tripadvisor. Our free breakfasts and Island Hopping package is only included for groups staying a minimum of 7 nights.
Breakfasts are in expensive at Villa Marguerita. You can check out our sample menu and information on this site once your booking is confirmed.

You'll have access to the whole property except the caretakers cottage. You're welcome to use our kitchen to prepare your own meals and snacks if you'd like. Our complete bar and entertainment area including the refrigerators, pool table and table tennis table are also available for the exclusive use of our guests. We consider Villa Marguerita as a Private Resort.
We'd love you make Villa Marguerita you home for the period of your stay.

Hal lain yang perlu diperhatikan

We own 2 homes in Port Barton Palawan. Both are listed on Airbnb. Consider also spending time at Gilligans Port Barton. Our reviews can be seen on Tripadvisor. Flights to Puerto Princesa airport should ideally be made for the mornings and flights back to Manila should be made for the afternoon which will allow trips to the Underground River either on the way to Port Barton, and it will avoid early morning trips back to the airport. A 7 or 12 seater private van will cost around $100 to $115usd for the 3 hour trip to Port Barton, and add around $50 if you'd like the driver to take the side trip to visit the famous Underground River on the way to or from Port Barton. Trips to and from El Nido are available by boat or van if required. Expect to pay around Php6000 for a private van, less for public transport. Island hopping around Port Barton is a must, and expect to pay 750pesos ( $15 ) per person with a beach barbecue lunch. There's a minimum charge for small groups. I consider Island hopping as essential to fully enjoy this tropical paradise.

Fantastic location on the beach at Port Barton and an easy walk to the cafes around the town. Mal & Mich (the owners) and their wonderful staff will do anything to make their guest's feel comfortable, including catering to fussy eaters. The house is basic but with fresh sheets every 2nd day it's clean and cosy. The beds are very comfortable. The bar is a great place for meals, watching the world go by and for having fun. Wifi is patchy, but that is the case around a lot of the island so if being connected is important to you we suggest buying a local sim card. We had such a special time at Villa Marguerita thanks to Mal, Mich and team.

Villa Margerita is a beautiful and spacious home! We rented the entire house for 4 nights and it was the best part of our Palawan vacation. Caretakers are very friendly and helpful, there's a food menu that you can pick your meals if you'd like to have them at the house. They have a private boat that you can take out for private island hopping (700 pesos per person) and you can use the SUP and kayaks for free of charge. Electricity is only turned on (by the city) from 6PM till mindnight but you can charge phones tablets from the 12VDC outlets. Roosters are pretty common wherever you go on the island and the my don't follow the sun's schedule so bring some earplugs if it bothers you. Mal can organize a private VAN from PP for 4500 pesos upon request and it takes 3.5-4 hours to get to the house. Everything is walking distance in town and you can rent a scooter for 500 pesos a day to ride around the area (Waterfall is highly recommended).

My family and I had a beautiful time. Mal and his staff were amazing! They accommodate all of our needs. Thank you to Mal and Apple for the great conversation and making us feel welcomed. Most importantly you must have the mango shake! -Nicole

As an American and an experienced traveler of the Philippines I'm used to Island accommodations. These include cold showers, open style windows and living with nature including lizards and insects, as well as intermittent electricity. Mals place has a heated shower downstairs, nets around the beds, and solar power! At most resorts the activities and sporting equipment are additional fees. Mals place has kayaks, SUP (stand up paddle boards x2), volleyball, badminton, billiards, etc that are all exclusive use to the villa guests for free. The kitchen also has a giant fridge and 2 gas burner stove as well as all the pots, pans, and dishes you need. If you are going to Port Barton with as a small group (2-8 people) this place is SUPER GREAT! The staff would also prepare meals for you if you wanted and even guided us to do our grocery shopping. The only somewhat difficult and expensive part is the transportation from the airport to the resort. 4500 PHP each way for a private van. 400 PHP per head to ride in a crowded public van. This really bugged me at first until I did some day trips to El Nido and realized much of Palawan is a tourist trap ready to overcharge for boat tours, food, and souvenirs. Port Barton is a truly special place not yet ruined by greed or over run by hoards of tourists seeking (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) photos to show their friend I have been to Palawan.

A beautiful stay at the villa - which is in a great location - right on the beach. The private boat is great for snorkelling - we saw turtles, jellyfish and wonderful coral reefs. The people and the food are great and all looked after us to the best of their possibilities, cooking meals and cleaning the home. If you fancy going out the bamboo house down the road is great! Altogether a beautiful place, lovely caretakers and an amazing stay in port Barton.

Villa Marguerite was not the place for for my family (with two young kids). The owner kindly suggested we move to his other property which we did. Below is a complete review of both locations. Good - Very kind caregivers Arnold and Marlyn, rapid response from owner Mal who happened to be in town. - delicious food, super friendly staff - Mal kindly offered us to stay at their other location Gilligans Island which was much nicer for us (with 2 young kids). - 6 meter python was amazing Bad - The building was old, tired. Lots of insects and nocturnal sounds that scared the living daylights out of the family. We are used to roughing it but this was too much. - Water of the sea out front was brown. - Showers did not work, no warm water, no wifi, no aircon, kids could not play on the floor of the house. - the price of the house is too high for the value. - Its 3,5 hours from Puerto Princesa so our trip from Singapore to Villa Marguerite was 16 hours door to door which was too much with 2 young kids. Hal suggested we stay at Gilligans which was a beautiful location. Here is some feedback on Gilligans. Good - beautiful place, beach, boat ride. - very kind care takers. We would recommend you staying here. Bad -We did have 60-70 mosquito/sand fly bites each and looked like heroine junkies as we scratched ourselves. Hal is exterminating most of these in the future. - the sheets and pillow cases must be replaced, they were stained, ripped. Apparently they have a new set coming. - zero GSM or internet available - ocasional jelly fish sting which really packed a punch. My son is still itching like hell a week later. Hal and the team are wonderful, we are grateful for a brilliant experience but it was a little tougher than we had hoped.

Visiting remote tropical areas can sometimes be a little too 'adventurous' for some guests, and clearly this vacation was disappointing for this lovely young family. I'm really sad to hear that our guests were disappointed, but reviews like this give really us the kick in the pants we sometimes need to improve our services. Our homes are simple beach house structures and certainly not 'Hilton' like, so maybe expectations were not realistic. We'll be sharing all of the comments with our maintenance staff to see why these issues were present and to make our homes better value. Thanks for the feedback!

Our Resort Information and Frequently Asked Questions forms will be made available for confirmed guests. Should you have any questions in the mean time, please send your questions to me through AirBnb. There is a lot of information available about Villa Marguerita if you look for it. There's only so much we can place on AirBnb. We have a caretaker to do the housekeeping or provide meals if required. Feel free to do your own catering if you like, otherwise our menu meals are of a high standard and inexpensive. Wifi is available at Villa Marguerita, but it can be intermittent and slow as is the cellphone network in Palawan. If high speed internet is important to you, then Palawan may not be a good choice for a vacation.

My Husband and I have owned Villa Marguerita since 1998 and Gilligans since 2006. Some years back we decided to share what we own with others. When we arrive in Port Barton and step out on to the beach at Villa Marguerita and Gilligans, it's such a wonderful feeling. I'm sure you'll enjoy the same excitement as we do.
