Built in the late 1800s, Rosehaven has been well-loved, with sensitive modernisations completed over the years. The home is light, with living spaces that invite guests to sit, breathe and rest. High ceilings and wooden floors are characteristic of the home's provenance, while an earthy colour-scheme and wood-burning stoves all point to Rosehaven's place as a real platteland retreat. Antique furniture contrasted with clean modern lighting, complete this home's offering as a visual treat.

The main bedroom has a large sash window overlooking the garden - perfect for morning lie-ins on the King-sized bed. The second bedroom also overlooks the garden, with an Art Deco-style double bed. The third bedroom, with a double bed, overlooks a verdant tranquil courtyard. All bedrooms have high quality, luxurious sheeting, that promotes pressing 'snooze' just one more time.

The bathroom has been completely redone, with modern tiling and fittings adding a splash of luxury to the Rosehaven experience. A full bath with a shower over one end is the perfect way to unwind after a long day of relaxation and contemplation in the Rosehaven garden.

In the living room, guests can settle in front of the HDTV, with access to Netflix, Showmax, Amazon Prime and Mubi. The living room opens up to a secluded tranquil garden courtyard. The inside-outside flow adds to Rosehaven's charm.

The dining room offers a comfortable six-seater table, opening out onto a large stoep. Here, guests can relax on the generous day bed, or enjoy a meal outside. The view from the stoep is spectacular - from the densely treed and rose-filled garden, stretching over the town to distant wheatfields.

A fully-equipped kitchen makes living here a breeze. An operational Welcome Dover stoves keeps the kitchen cosy all year around. Complimentary firewood and fire-lighters are offered to all guests. Leading off from the kitchen is a courtyard with a large braai, which, together with plunge pool, creates a lovely holiday feeling.

The expansive garden area allows for each guest to pick their own spot to spend some time reading, watching the birds, or enjoying the flowers. With a double-garage and additional off-street parking, guests can rest easy that their vehicles have a comfortable stay too!

I'm an Animation Director and 3D Generalist and make animated television commercials and campaigns for a living. I also lecture at a University once a week in Cape Town, where I teach my students the principles of 3D Visualization. I live in Swellendam with my partner Braam. He is a composer who writes beautiful music for feature films, television series and theatre.

My interests include the arts, gardening, nature, video games and cooking. I also have four beautiful Maine Coon cats called Tina, Moji, Barbara-Ann and Llewellyn.

We are truly blessed to live in Swellendam because it is a beautiful town (and the third oldest town in South Africa) and the nature is spectacular with some amazing hikes in the nature reserves. I recently purchased a home that is listed on Airbnb (Rosehaven Cottage, Swellendam) with the hope to host and meet guests to allow them to explore Swellendam, the surrounding areas and the beautiful Overberg.
