Have you ever dreamed of falling asleep to the meditative sound of the waves? Waking up to the golden rays of the sunrise? MuChu House on the Sea will offer you this unique experience. Join us and live real local life on this beautiful island.
MuChu is a real home away from home. Our little guesthouse features 3 cozy rooms built on stilts on the sea in a quiet, local area of Koh Lanta Old Town. The rooms have funny (but meaningful) names: Chuchu, Mumu and Zulu. All share an outdoor kitchen and a large relaxing deck on the water with gorgeous sea view where you can swing on your hammock or do some yoga. Wifi can be accessed from all the rooms and the shared areas. If you are looking for a different, unique, local experience, MuChu is the place!
Zulu is the smallest and cheapest room, mainly because it doesn't have the sea view straight from the bed like the other two rooms and it is located under Mumu, which is the room above. But despite the disadvantages, Zulu is a really cute and cozy little room, and well-priced too of course. It is made of wood and bamboo in real fisherman style and has a queen-size bed, fan, mosquito net, a convenient bathroom with cold shower, and a little private deck with hammock where you can swing to the sounds of the waves in high tide. Zulu does not have any windows but three big doors with a fisherman style kind of lock that give the room an open feeling and lots of light and air.
All guests have access to an outdoor kitchen with fridge and gas stove. You might want to practice your newly-acquired Thai cooking skills or just take a break from Thai food and cook something from back home. Next door to your house you can buy the freshest fish, squid and shrimp straight from the fisherman or you can indulge in local markets where you explore local fruit, veggies, spices, curries and other familiar and totally new ingredients.
In the kitchen area there is a table where you can sit down and enjoy your food, but you are also welcome to have your meal on the beautiful deck.
You share the kitchen and the deck with guests in the two other rooms. Therefore we require all guests to keep the kitchen and the deck tidy, to clean up after cooking, and to be considerate of each other and the neighbours.

Our place is very unique fisherman house in a local neighbourhood with a kitchen and a deck on the water with stunning views. Come and stay at our place if you look for a different experience, away from resorts and tourist hubs. But please be aware that Muchu House is very rustique, built of recycled materials like wood, bamboo and tin in a fisherman village, where the sea is not suitable for swimming. It is not a place for those who are looking for a luxury, quiet, beach getaway. Feel free to ask any questions you might have after reading this.
As mentioned before, guests are expected to leave the common areas clean and tidy. In addition, guests should be aware that we live in a very local area. Therefore we should respect the Thai culture and the different religions. However, the neighbours are already familiar with our Western culture and they are generally very easy-going. You will see that at night, after 10 pm, our neighborhood is very quiet. It is recommended to keep it that way.

Nice to meet you! We are Mon and Maayan. We are a couple, Mon is Thai, and Maayan is Dutch/Israeli. We have been together since 2011 and have actually even met each other on Koh Lanta.
We started Airbnb 2 years ago with our own beautiful Wooda house on poles. And from there we expanded slowly but gradually. Now we offer a number of tourists accommodation, all situated in the lovely fishermen village named Lanta Old Town, on the East coast of Koh Lanta, where we also live with our beautiful daughter Mili and the new member of the family who is arriving soon.
Mon also runs a very successful Thai cooking school named Cooking with Mon, where you can learn how to cook delicious Thai food in a fun atmosphere. Feel free to ask us more about this when you contact us.
We love what we do (hosting) for several reasons: first, we get to interact with so many different people from different parts of the world, with sometimes different languages, ideas and expectations. Therefore we learn so much every day!
Second we feel our guests bring so much joy and positive energy to us and we are happy to give the same back. In other words, sometimes we work hard all day, talking to people, arranging trips, transportation, solving smaller and sometimes bigger problems, but in the end of the day, it is so worth it!
Of course life is not just work, so when we get some time off we love cooking & eating good food, spending time at home or on the beach with our little girl (and soon little boy?), traveling and just hanging out with friends.
Hopefully you will feel this positive energy with us and the people and partners we work with. Hope to see you in Old Town!
