Pete & Tracey were incredibly polite and friendly and the cottage was beautiful. The couple of vases of freshly cut flowers, the bowl of fruit and the roaring fire made us feel right at home. The peace of the location - with the gentle roar of the nearby waterfalls the only noise you can hear - makes it such a lovely location to base yourselves from, for exploring the area. If you’re looking for food, we can’t recommend The Nag’s Head in Boncath highly enough.
Beautiful cottage with good quality fittings, accessories and very comfortable. Gorgeous flowers left for us and a fruit bowl which lasted for days! What a treat. Really enjoyed being in the cottage with the wood burner going as much as taking our dog for a walk on Poppit Sands Beach. A rare find - book it if you can!
Albro Castle is a gorgeous and cosy cottage. The amenities are great and loved the coal burner fire. Being on the edge of the village provides lovely views, privacy, peace and a very short walk to the local pubs etc (handy if you cant live without wifi!). Peter is a great host and if I am back in the area again, I would look to stay again. I dont drive and found a mix of local buses, hiring a bike and walking made it easy to get out and about the local area.
A wonderfully peaceful location, but not far from 'civilisation'. The cottage is so cosy and comfortable. We felt at home immediately. There is a coal stove in the main room that keeps the house really warm - don't worry if you've not had experience in keeping this kind of fire going, Pete is really helpful in explaining what to do. The cottage was perfect for us, very quiet and removed from hustle and bustle (although, to be fair, hustle and bustle in the part of the world is very far removed from most places!) but within walking distance of good pubs, the river, Poppit Sands and other beautiful locations, which the dogs loved! Albro Castle itself is just beautiful and you really feel like you've escaped as you drive up the lane. Everything has been sympathetically restored and the simplicity of the place is a real breath of fresh air. Although there is no WiFi, out phone signals were strong enough to stay in touch with the outside world. There were fresh flowers and a bowl of fruit in the cottage when we arrived, which was a lovely touch. Locally, make sure you visit the market in St Dogmaels on Tuesday which is well worth a visit. Other paces worth a visit... Pizza Tipi, Bara Menyn, Queens Bakery in Cardigan; The Ferry Inn, Teifi Netpool in St Dogmaels.
Had a brilliant time at Albro Castle! The main living space was a lot bigger than we were expecting, and the whole house was lovely!! We loved the fire, and the flowers and fruit were such a great touch. Pete was extremely helpful, and gave us some great walking tips! There's a few great pubs in walking distance, and a number of good walks from the door. Can't recommend enough, would love to come back!
