With its lush green pastures and apple orchards, Calvados has become famous for its delicious dairy produce, cider and Calvados (apple brandy). Horse and pony trails, to suit all ages and capabilities, are popular here too, as Calvados has long had an association with rearing fine horses.

Caen (50km), the capital of Calvados, has many attractions including the WW2 Memorial Museum, the Abbeys of William the Conqueror and Queen Mathilda and the port of Ouistreham (Brittany Ferries).
The nearby village of Montchauvet (3kms) has Sandrine's epicerie, providing local farm-fresh produce and refreshments in the bar.
Le Bény-Bocage (10 km) has a post office, shops and bars, chemist, doctors' surgery, small weekly market [Thursdays] and a 5 star restaurant. The bustling market town of Vire (20kms) offers a range of shopping, sport and cultural facilities; also nearby is Lac Dathee for fishing and sailing.
