Bar
“8 minutes away - on the way to the center of Ljubljana CENTRAL STATION. Well equipped. Trendy. Very popular place for young people. All the food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, low prices. It's particularly nice to sit outside.”

“Set in the premises of a former dive bar at the corner of the local Covered Market (Pokrita Tržnica), Magda manages the rare feat of being super cool, completely authentic and refreshingly unpretentious all at the same time. The minimalist interior features stripped down walls, custom-made furnishings and fixtures, and original Yugoslav-era brown floor tiling, which reminds us of something you'd find in the so-called ruin bars of Budapest or hippest neighbourhoods of Berlin. The diverse selection of largely German and Belgian beer is matched by the eclectic choice of spirits, from Japanese whisky and American rye to craft gin (and tonic) and the best Macedonian rakija, all of which the friendly barkeep will gladly explain in detail. What's more, perhaps the finest espresso in town is produced from specialty beans (also available for purchase) and an old-fashioned manual hand-pulled lever machine, while very original meat and cheese plates, breakfast croissant sandwiches, tins of seafood imported from Spain and fresh oysters on ice highlight the food menu. Truly unique and one of our personal favourites!”

Bridge
“Like in many cities, we also have our "love bridge": It has become the custom for people to attach love padlocks all along the railings before throwing the keys into the Ljubljanica river below. ”

“Apart from fresh Slovenian fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers, the market also offers a choice of tropical fruits, dry-cured meat products, balcony flowers, and plug plants. On Wednesdays, Ecological Market takes place at the Pogačar Square. In addition to the Open Kitchen organised on Fridays, this is also the place of other thematic and culinary events, for example From Countryside to City (Podeželje v mestu), Idea Italia – Italian food market, Pivo & Burger Fest etc.”

“Oirish to the hilt, which is inexcusable, but good rowdy fun can be had on regular basis. Good bar food and a decent selection of inebriating substances.”

“I do not qualify myself as a vegetarian, however I am very careful about the meat that I consume. I strive for locally produced meat from small farmers, therefore on meat free days I often find myself at lunch time in vegan place called Barbarella. They can really prepare some tasty dishes. ”

Galeri Seni
“Really nice place on the Ljubljana's main food market. It used to be a fish market. DobraVaga is an exhibition and project space, a sales gallery and open studio of various artistic languages, styles, and content. You can get amazing graphics, prints, and riso prints there. ”

“The present market, built by the architect Jože Plečnik between 1940 and 1944, was conceived as a two-storey range of riverside market halls following the curve of the river. On the side overlooking the river, the market halls were furnished with large semi-circular windows, and on the side overlooking the street adorned with a colonnade. The whole complex, reflecting Renaissance influences, was covered with a roof of massive concrete tiles. Plečnik planned to fill the gap in the range of market halls with a monumental covered bridge to connect the market-side embankment with the Petkovškovo nabrežje embankment, but the bridge, which was supposed to be called the Butchers' Bridge, was never built. - Actualy it was built recently - the one with the glass floor and statues on it :)”

“The Butchers' Bridge is one of many bridges in the city of Ljubljana. What makes it so special and worth seeing? It is the so called love bridge. It is a place where countless lovers have symbolically padlocked their love and dropped the keys into the river Ljubljanica, which flows underneath.”
