It has a small movie theater “The State Cinema” It was recently remodeled and shows all new movies. It’s across from Geppetto’s pizza parlor and down the street from several other great restaurants, wine shops and other specialty shops. Newton also has a community swimming pool, open to the public for a small admission fee. On a bigger scale The Kool Park Pool is a great way to spend a hot summer day. It’s in Hickory. It’s a nice, well maintain pool with slides created to look like cliffs. It also has a huge diving board. It’s open to the public but is a little more expensive. To get your money’s worth you may want to plan to stay all day. You can take your own food/snacks/drinks. They play good music on loud speakers and it gives you a tropical fun feeling. They do sell concessions but it’s really easy to throw a cooler in the trunk with drinks and snacks. BTW, I have a cooler for you.

Not sure that anyone traveling would have the time or need to visit our local animal shelters, Catawba Valley Humane Society, but we do have 2 really nice locations in the exit 125 area. They are no kill shelters that have primarily Dog and Cats but at times have bunnies, chickens and horses that need homes.
There are many, many, many restaurants on HWY 70 ( Catawba Valley Blvd) off I-40 Exit 125. Hickory is one exit further up heading west.

Food delivery services such as Grub Hub and Door Dash deliver to my home from most restaurants in the area. You would need to download their free app and type in my address to see who is open for deliveries as times vary in the early morning and late in the evening. We use both services often and are always pleased with the quick and easy service. They do charge delivery fees and some have a minimum food purchase amount. The check out screen is very easy to read and calculates the delivery cost as well as allowing you to give a tip during the check out.
Domino’s Pizza in Conover also delivers. You can call in or download their app with my address for delivery or pick up. They have the least expensive delivery fee and they are usually fast and alway good.
