Located in Yampa, CO (27 miles from Steamboat)
More than just a bedroom! You get 3 couches, the entire living room, small sunroom & access to fully stocked, shared kitchen to cook big meals! Free entertainment too, my 2 cats!
Hello, ever booked a shared place and it was just a private room? Or awkward? Or host was anti-social?
Well you won’t feel that here!
You’ll be able to be yourself, as well as use the whole house as if you lived here with me.
Guests who have the best time here are simple, laid back, social and don’t mind cats or a shared bathroom.
*There are times too that I’m gone for the weekend and you may just get the whole house for the price of shared.*
Downtown Yampa, Colorado (The Gateway to the Flat Tops) Steamboat Springs is literally a straight shot from my place just hop on HWY 131 a block from my house, enjoy the scenery and boom, you’re in Steamboat (just 27 miles)
*Most people that live here work in Steamboat.*
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RATE?
*The rate fluctuates by day of week, and demand in the area.
*The rate covers 2 people, after that it is $10 per person, per night. (The price is automatically calculated upon entering the correct # of people)
*Parking is plenty and you get to park right at the front door. Unlike a steamboat condo, too wont have to fight a parking lot or carry your stuff but a few feet.
Snowshoers (I have 2 pairs for your use + a free trail guide)
BOOKING HERE YOU GET:
1. BEDROOM: Small w/full size bed
2. LIVING ROOM: Full reign over its space, the TV & circular couch that can easily sleep 2-3 ppl
*I have my own TV in my bedroom, so don’t feel shy taking over the living room and TV.
*As you come and go, I may be playing music videos or funny YouTube videos via the living room TV but its all yours to take over anytime!
I usually just put it on for ambiance and to kill the silence.)
*My favorite guests are those that make themselves at home, or even plays music of their own, it puts me at ease to see my guests comfortable knowing they don’t have to tip-toe around or ask if they can change the channel or put food in fridge or whatever :-)
3. YOU GET SUNROOM TOO:
Great to relax, watch snowflakes fall, listen to fire crackling and enjoy a cocktail.
Has one couch, fireplace, large windows, and is just shared with the cats as this is where their cat trees are and they like to eat on their perch and gaze out the windows in here.
4. BATHROOM PERKS & MUST KNOW:
*might* be shared with other guests than me - let me explain; so my other listing here on AIRBNB (The Rustic Runaway” is a private stand alone guest house cabin behind my house . It does NOT have running water or a bathroom.
Occasionally both this listing and that listing is rented at the same time (maybe 35% of the time) if this is the case while you are here, just know they are allowed to come through the back door and use bathroom/shower.
*Your prime areas are located at the front end of the house, opposite of the bathroom, so no one has to walk through your area, or the sunroom, only through the kitchen is all.
I let my guests know if someone else is renting that property just so everyone is in the loop and there are no surprises.
This has never posed any issues, as were all like minded people all here to explore and have fun.
(I find many guests don’t even shower as they’re hitting the hot springs or trying to beat the parking craze to hit the slopes)
5. KITCHEN MUST KNOWS & PERKS:
Though shared with me, feel free to jump in and cook a large meal. It’s got everything and more to include spices, oils, & condiments.
*Free coffee, cream, sugar & tea.
*My kitchen table folds out and can accommodate a good place to play cards/games/etc.
*Depending on the social level of guests, the kitchen has been known to turn into a happy hour with food and drinks.
6. LAUNDRY ROOM-
Feel free to use it
7. BONUS: CATS!
You even get temporary pets while here!
My 2 indoor/outdoor cats come and go outside on their own through a doggie door. The best part, no litter box, so no cat smells here!
Must love cats! These 2 can be very curious to say the least.
Nala (Though too scared to enter your room, or approach you for pets on her head that she likes so much, she has no shame being ultra curious watching people cook and doesn’t always have perfect manners; likes to jump up on the bar, feels the need to be by others and likes to watch the action.
And don’t put it past her to try to steal food off your plate or play in your suitcase.
**Nala is 100% harmless, but she does growl, hiss and fights at her own tail as she has nerve damage and does not know her tail is attached to her! for this reason she doesn’t like her back pet, only her head and face.
Guests find her humorous once they know fighting her tail is normal for her. (she is a rescue I took in from an abusive home) so you can expect quite the character from her!
My other cat, Zeke on the other hand is extremely chill and sometimes goes outside and is gone all day. But if he senses a good vibe from you, he isn’t shy to come up to you for pets and belly rubs.
Please send me a message acknowledging you’re good with everything And answer the following questions.
1. Are you or anyone your bringing allergic to cats?
2. Are you bringing pets? If so, it is $10 per animal per night billed to you as a separate fee request within the app after you book. (My cats don’t really like other cats, but are fine with dogs assuming the dog is harmless with cats)
3. Any extra guests?
$10 per night but that automatically calculates in your total when you enter the correct number in your party.
4. CLEANING: please indicate in your initial message to me: Do you prefer to follow “no-trace” and follow a cleaning check-out list to avoid paying a separate $35 cleaning fee?
(cleaning check-out list inside welcome binder you’ll see upon arrival) this includes re-making bed with clean sheets that I provide so you do not have to do any laundry.
NOTE: I do not have a housekeeper, and though I keep a very neat home, I also am coming and going as I work full-time and like to go out and play myself. I am an avid snowmobiler and ice fish a lot, for that reason, Im not always here cleaning behind my every step or here shoveling the little sidewalk. But I do have a shovel outside if it becomes required. Just know this is lived in space and you can expect it to be as good as staying with a friend in their welcoming “lived-in” home.
I think guests find this as one of the biggest reasons they feel at home here. You won’t feel like you’re in my way either. I also keep you informed of where I’m at when I’m coming home, etc. Just so you never have to wonder.
4. Must be okay that the bathroom is shared. It’s possible my other property is rented same time or that I have my own guest over.
WARNING: My carpet sucks!!! Lots of traffic stains!! If this will be your focus, you may as well get a hotel,
It is much better and has true character.
I have self-check in. So if I’m not around, you’ll have to familiarize yourself by reading my plastic binder so you know how to work the propane heat, the WiFi, etc.
If I happen to be away overnight are you willing to feed the cats? Otherwise I send a neighbor over.
Patio has 2 fire heaters and may or may not be covered in snow. I also live on a gravel road so it can be tricky keeping this place 100% polished at all times.
(I do not guarantee Propane for the patio fires excuse guests frequently forget to turn them off, so there’s been a history of my spending $40 on 2 propane tanks all to find it’s gone the next day! However but if don’t have any it is sold a block away at the gas station.)
Check in is 4pm / check out 2pm,
If you want flexible times please talk to me in advance and I may be able to work it out if I’m able.
PLAY THE MUSIC:
I have a large Bluetooth speaker. Regardless if it’s in the evening or in the morning, if you got music, play it! I am not much of a fan of silence, so I encourage it and move to hear all kinds of music!
Thanks for reading
Please don’t be that person that just writes “be there at 7pm”
If all of this sounds good to you PLEASE message me that you read the entire listing and you’re good with shared bathroom, cats, and just remember my carpet has had much love and is stained.
If you stay here; please do not use that against me when you rate me. Thank you!!
I look forward to your message and hosting you! Thank you!
The more detailed your message, the better I can help make your stay what you want it to be.
Also feel free to talk to me before you book your activities, I can give you a good run-down if what’s most scenic, what the better deals are, etc.
