Sight seeing and hiking
Only 70 minutes drive from Lake Tekapo, Mt Cook National Park is a must do for guest who have allowed the time for a visit. We recommend a visit to the National Park HQ, the Hermitage Hotel and Sir Edmund Hillary Museum and any of the 10 hiking tracks available. It is possible to include this visit on route to Queenstown or Wanaka if the weather is good.

Drive up the road for a $8 toll or walk up the track to get the best views in area. On a good day you can literally see for miles, and get some great photos. The Observatory Cafe serves up some great coffee and food so don't forget to take some cash with you.
