The postel abbey is ideal for people who are looking for tranquility and at the same time want to enjoy typical Belgian specialties. The fathers brew their own beer, have their own cheese and you can buy delicious gingerbread. A visit to this abbey is more recommended to people who are in the area for a longer period of time. You can take long walks in the nearby forests. From your apartment, the Postel Abbey is also a nice stopover during a cycling tour in the region

Meerhout is situated in the heart of the green Campina region. You will find here “Grote Netewoud”, a series of nature reserves along the river “Grote Nete” and its tributaries. Right in the middle you come across the visitor center “Grote Netewoud”. Located at 700m from Den Beer, and therefore the perfect starting point for a nice walk. It is situated on a green and historic site next to a 17th century water mill, where the “Grote Nete” literally flows through the building.
The visitor center is the gateway to discover the valuable nature in Balen, Meerhout, Geel and Mol. You walk from flowery grasslands to swamps and marshes, passing heathland and land dunes and you can get lost in the vast forests.
Recently “Totterpad” was opened here. A nice path to discover with kids between 3 & 12 years. Follow Bernard the beaver and meet his friends the kingfisher, lizard and bat.
Did you also know that there are a lot of small hiking trails around Den Beer that crisscross through and around the center of Meerhout?
I made walking/running tour of 7.8 km starting at the apartment going into the forests. Don't hesitate to ask me for the tour and I will be happy to hand it over to you and help you with further questions you might have.

Antwerp has much to offer. It is a city with a perfect mix between historical buildings, nice museums and lovely food. Oh and by the way; don't miss the central station. A few years ago, the father of the owners, who was a doctor, received his patients in the building. This nice place breathes the atmosphere of the doctor's cabinet from the past. Very cozy and nice for a good coffee or tea, delicious rosé wine and a piece of cake. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon.
