Tesuque Market is great for all meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have fresh baked goods every morning. There's a small grocery for some essentials (wine and beer too!), and don't miss their desserts. Simply wow!

Our neighbor Rob is one of the owners of El Nido.....we love El Nido, not just because of Rob but because it has a delicious seasonal menu. The new chef uses fresh ingredients from local growers, the wine list is fabulous and you can pony up to the bar any time in any kind of wear and be warmly welcomed. Don't miss their famous pizza.

Some of the best sunset views in Santa Fe can be enjoyed from the Four Season's bar. We have never eat in the restaurant, as the bar is so lovely and you can get the full menu in the bar. Plus they have a lovely balcony for viewing the sunset and listening to some local music

Our absolute favorite restaurant in Santa Fe. Fernando is one of Santa Fe's premier chefs - he's a true Santa Fe character with a talent for creating unique dishes to make your mouth sing! Don't miss his Soupa D'Amore. The restaurant is pricey, the service is top notch but you can get some more modestly priced deals in the bar at Happy Hour.

You must stop for some pie at Mamacita's your way to or back from Ghost Ranch or Abiquiu Inn. Marta's pizza is the absolute BEST in all of northern New Mexico. Here's a link to our beloved friend Zibby's review of Mamcita's ( along with Nomad's Pizza in Jemez - very good too):https://www.sfreporter.com/food/2019/05/08/far-out-pizza/ We helped Zibby "review" Mamacita's Pizza by eating a huge XL pie in one sitting! And Marta has some very sweet cats who visit her outside patio and may say hello while you enjoy.

This is one of our favorite high- end restaurants in Santa Fe. It's right on Canyon Road. Be sure to make reservations. The food is just fantastic. The wine and cocktail selection is excellent and so is the service.....even the free valet is great. Definitely a Santa Fe must.

Bandelier is over 33,000 acres of rugged but beautiful canyon and mesa country as well as evidence of a human presence here going back over 11,000 years. Petroglyphs, dwellings carved into the soft rock cliffs, and standing masonry walls pay tribute to the early days of a culture that still survives in the surrounding communities.

Pronounced "Poo-yeah". The cliffs are an intimate experience of the 1,500 Pueblo Indians who lived, farmed and hunted game there from the 900s to 1580 A.D. Puye Cliffs comprises two levels of cliff and cave dwellings cut into the cliff face, as well as dwellings on the mesa top. Over one mile long, the first level runs the length of the base of the mesa. The second level is about 2,100 feet long. Paths and stairways were cut into the face of the rock to connect the two levels and allow people to climb to the top of the mesa. The views on top of the mesa are the best in Santa Fe - bar none! A walk down the cliff face and ladders like the ancient peoples once did, will give you a unique insight into the amazing people who lived here before us. ours at Puye Cliff Dwellings are available seven (7) days a week, as weather permits. Closures will posted on their website homepage or calendar.

This place is MAGIC. The Pueblo limits the number of visitors who can be in the park at one time - so get there early to miss the crowds and to enjoy the beauty. This is a hike to remember.

Spas

If you are in need of absolute relaxation....then go to Ten Thousand Waves. Be sure to book your spa treatments well in advance (like prior to arriving here- at least 5 days in advance) because they book up quickly. And be sure to set some time to eat at their restaurant Izunami. It's a delish, relaxed pace Japanese dining experience. Ten Thousand Waves is really geared for adults, as children don't really know the concept of 'silence' yet. So if you have any little ones, it's best to schedule something separate for them.

We love the hot springs here. It's a whisper only environment, so please be aware as they might request you to leave if a guest does not adhere to the policy. The setting is beautiful. For a rather low fee you can spend the entire day soaking. Don't miss the mud soak during day light hours. And the restaurant has some yummy dishes for apres soak.

Bring Hiking Boots if you're a hiker

New Mexico soils are both sandy and clay. Trails here tend to have a lot of loose rock and gravel and lots of inclines to clammer up. Be sure to bring your hiking boots, if you want to hit the trails. We have two walking sticks for you use during your stay. They're a great help when navigating the NM terrain. We also have private trails right off our property and that run through our neighbors property. Owners and guests are welcome to use these trails, but please be aware they can be more challenging as the slopes are steep in places and you are on private property as a guest.

Visiting Pueblos

If you intend to visit any of our area Pueblos, be sure to call ahead and ask for any rule or restrictions they may have regarding visitors ( non-tribal members). Check out www.newmexico.org/events/native-american/feast-days/ for a list of Tribal feasts and festivals by month. Please note the section on etiquette when visiting the Pueblos. They take these rules seriously and will not permit or will expel people if the rules of etiquette are not followed.

Festivals & The Opera

If you've been to Santa Fe for it's many festivals and its opera season, then you know how busy it can be here. Be sure to make reservations early and to obtain any necessary tickets early so you can enjoy all the events you desire to participant in.

Arroyos are Santa Fe's sidewalks

It is very common for folks to walk/hike our area arroyos. Please note the arroyos are part of area neighbors' private property, unlike city side walks. It's the custom here to 'share' the arroyos with neighbors and guests to enjoy a good walk/hike. We have a map of our main arroyo and where it leads available to you in the casita, so you see where it will lead you on a morning hike.....perhaps down to the Tesuque Village Market for some fresh pastries and coffee.

Arroyos in Monsoon Season

Monsoon season in New Mexico is typically mid-June through September. Believe us when we say, that we can get an amazing amount of rain in a very short period of time here. If we have a rain storm while visiting - always keep in mind to NOT CROSS AN ARROYO when water is present. Flash floods are very real here. Arroyos can fill with water, have white caps and be so strong that it will wash cars, trees, etc down stream in a matter of seconds. No exaggeration . If you encounter an arroyo running, stay safely in your car away from the water or turn around and find a dry place.

Be nice! It's the Culture Here!

If you've ever been to Santa Fe or anywhere in New Mexico, then you've enjoyed just how nice and helpful people are. But, if one is not nice.....the world can come to a screeching halt. It can get very busy here, staff in restaurants or shops, etc can be overwhelmed but know they truly do want to provide you with excellent service. A smile and a thank you will ensure it.

Hiking

Be sure to download the All Trails app on your phone for great details on area hiking trails. There are also beautiful hikes in the Jemez and near the Caldera. Rio En Medio is a wonderful hike just a few miles north of us. It is like dropping into Ireland. You won't believe you're still in Santa Fe. Plus there's a beautiful waterfall at the end.
