Nico's Kailua is awesome ! The owner is a talented chef serving up high quality seafood entrees that are budget friendly. They serve beer and cocktails. They also have a variety of fresh poke. My favorite is the Furikake salmon poke.

Willow Tree is the best Korean restaurant in Kailua for lunch and dinner. Everything there is super tasty and budget friendly. I usually get the lunch special choice of three items kalbi, spicy bbq chicken and fish jun. They have the best kim chee too !

Blossom's Okazuya is a good place to experience local comfort food like maki sushi, musubi, chow fun and you must try their Korean fried chicken. Open 6 am to 2 pm Monday through Saturday closed on Sunday only .8 miles down the road from my house. Must get there before 8 am to get full selection because they sell out fast. Note that Korean chicken only on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Lanikai Pillbox Hike has become very popular with visitors. At the top is two cement bunkers built in 1943 that funtioned as Coast Artilery observation stations. From the top you can take selfies with Mokulua islands in the background. The hike is a bit steep at the begining so you should wear good shoes and bring bottled water.

From the top you can take selfies with Mokulua islands in the background. The hike is a bit steep at the begining so you should wear good shoes and bring bottled water.
As a kid growing up in Kailua I used to hike Maunawili Falls frequently. Not many visitors knew of this trail back then. Now the hike has become a very popular hike for tourists. The two mile trail is well marked maintained by the city and county but the terrain is rough, muddy and you will be crossing a stream. It's a very beautiful rain forrest hike and the waterfall is awesome. You can easily climb up at different levels of the waterfall and jump into the cool water below.

Maunawili Falls
As a kid growing up in Kailua I used to hike Maunawili Falls frequently. Not many visitors knew of this trail back then. Now the hike has become a very popular hike for tourists. The two mile trail is well marked maintained by the city and county but the terrain is rough, muddy and you will be crossing a stream. It's a very beautiful rain forrest hike and the waterfall is awesome. You can easily climb up at different levels of the waterfall and jump into the cool water below.
Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden is 400 acres with the largest variety of tropical plants in the United States. Open from 9am-4pm 7 days a week free of charge. There is a 32 acre lake where you can fish (catch and release) on the weekends. Camping also allowed with permit on the weekends.
