The ferry docks in Old Harbor right next to Ballards Beach but don't limit yourself to just one beach - the whole island is a beach. To reach the beach at Mohegan Bluffs you have to walk down 100 stair steps. Electric scooters & bicycles can be rented to get around this Rhode Island destination.

Block Island Ferry - Narragansett
Approximately 20 miles to the Block Island Ferry in Narragansett from my home down country roads with little traffic. Take advantage of mainland pricing & take a day trip or two to Block Island. Narragansett beaches are also an option if you don't want to go to Block Island but just soak up sun and salt water in Narragansett.

Newport - Weekends & Bridge Traffic
Getting to Newport from my home is quite fast - through the forest & country roads. You will not hit high traffic until to reach the Jamestown & Newport bridges (basically the last 2 miles) to Newport. This cuts down your time stuck in the bridge traffic. In the past some of my guests have parked in the North Kingstown Park N Ride and rode their bicycles over the bridges to the Jazz and/or Folk Festivals.
