Great atmosphere in a beautiful historic small square that is just some meters from the beach. They have great seafood, I would advise trying octopus and different options of Moqueca, Brazilian’s fish stew or vegetarian version as well.

Sightseeing

Calhetas beach is one of the most beautiful beaches of São Sebastião. It has a great garden on the way and on the beach as well where you can have a fab view of the sea and Ilhabela. It's a wonderful and peaceful piece of white sand. It looks and feels like a tropical lost island with its palm trees and blue sea. it is hidden from the general public most of the time. If you are lucky, you might spot turtles eating close to the rocks in the left side.

This is a wide, calm and flat beach, the sea is calm; a very good place to take kids. It's a nice spot for surf beginners. You can find vendors to buy snacks, coconut, juice and drinks. If you need an umbrella and beach chairs you can check with them as well.

It's a nice place with a great view. Anyway, it's a pleasant short walk into the Atlantic forest and a place to admire the view of the sea. You really need to take care with the slippery rocks and DO NOT jump into the water.

City/town information

One of the only towns on the Paulista coast that has preserved a portion of its colonial charms, São Sebastião sits on a dramatic channel dividing the mainland from Ilha de São Sebastião (popularly known as 'Ilhabela'), a 15-minute ferry trip away.
