Local secret: this is my favorite beach in CDA. Free parking at NIC (across the street from the lake). Easy to haul all of your beach equipment (and children) to the beach. There are bathrooms, a snack shack, volleyball courts, rentals for paddle boards, kayaks, catamarans, and more. They also have areas for BBQ'ing. However, if you want a spot where there aren't any people nearby, this might not be the best spot.

My kids love Skate Plaza! It is reasonably cheap, good fun, and a great workout.

Outdoorsy Stuff
This is a must do experience! My family and I have done it multiple times. It is truly a easy bike ride. Mostly downhill, then a bus picks you up at the bottom and brings you back to the top.
My 6 & 8 year old did it this past summer on their own bikes the whole way. Pack a lunch. It took us about 4 hours. I do have a bike trailer and bikes you can borrow if you give me a heads up that this is something you are interested in. They also rent them at the mountain, but I would definitely make a reservation before showing up in case they are all out.

The ride starts with a trip through the 1.661 mile long St. Paul Pass Tunnel, also known as the Taft Tunnel.
