This was my absolute favorite when they opened. East Austin keeps upping the competition, but it's still top 5 for me. :)
Daily Happy Hour from 5-6pm is very well-priced, usually 1/2 price snacky bits. The restaurant is gluten-free. Lots of corn'based dishes. the masa is so authentic, we ordered a 2nd round of an appetizer and it came out a completely different color. Different corn in that batch.

Daily Happy Hour from 5-6pm is very well-priced, usually 1/2 price snacky bits. The restaurant is gluten-free. Lots of corn'based dishes. the masa is so authentic, we ordered a 2nd round of an appetizer and it came out a completely different color. Different corn in that batch.

Dog friendly, authentic staff who enjoy their jobs and each other and will likely remember your name. Locals hang out here. I have so much respect and appreciation for this company and the community they create.
Lazarus starts early as a local coffeeshop with breakfast tacos, place to meet and talk business or work quietly. The transition to higher activity, day drinking, happy hour happens earlier than most places.
A personal favorite for people & dog watching. It's a masculine vibe in the best sense. A stop on the brewery tours.

The queso flameado is LEGIT, but I do not recommend getting anything with Chile con queso. It's like stadium cheese. These are not the best margaritas (sweet and sour mix, not fresh lime, but they have a wide Tequila selection for very low prices.
Sometimes they have Ladies night or a Tejano DJ. :)

But their milling of ancient grains to make bread and pasta isn’t just a lesson in economics, sustainability or anthropology. It’s a study in flavor and textures.

I didn't know coconut ice cream could taste so good & some of the most exotic flavors are astonishingly yummy and unique. If you dont mind how pricey theice cream is, indulge and buy a pint to bring home.
