Sightseeing

Culmination point of a 4-km. hike on Phillip Island with sea views & dramatic rock formations. Great lookout can see the beaches all the way back to Pyramid Rock. Rock formations are interesting so are the small cliffs along the beach walk to the steps. Takes about an hour return walk from the car park but add in at least half an hour for photos and soaking up the views.

A decent length boardwalk with lots of view points through the rolling hills alongside the shoreline. Some really beautiful views of the rocky coast below and the red through to green ground cover foliage over the dunes.

Outdoor Activities, Tours, Boat Tours and Water Sports

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A must do for all ages. We did the 1 1/2 hour adventure tour and it was amazing. Would advise pre-booking a day or two prior to when you want to go as our boat was full. Boat leaves from Cowes and holds about 50 people. It is a little high speed boat. Take a warm jacket just in case, on land it was warm but on the boat it got quite chilly and you don't get back till about 4.30pm. On the way to Seal Rocks we stopped at a few locations and the Ranger on board gave us some interesting information about the area and the history of Phillip Island. Going through the bay was like a pond and then we hit some swell of about 1-2 metres which the Captain surfs over, heaps of fun but a bit daunting seeing the waves coming. We are surfing out beside surfers surfing in. You bob around Seal Rocks for about 20 minutes or more and the seals are in their hundreds (or more). Once you arrive you are asked to stand on the side closest to your seat to balance the boat - there is room for everyone to stand on the railing and the Captain rotates the boat around constantly. In April we saw lots of pups around 6-7 months old, they come right up to the boat, which sits quite low in the water so watch out as you get splashed when the seals jump. They are so thick it is like a carpet of seals, they are rolling and jumping over each other to get to the boat - AMAZING!!!!! If you are prone to seasickness, don't let that deter you. I get very seasick and take Avomine which is available over the counter from the chemist. I didn't get sick at all, even with the bobbing for 20 minutes (possibly also because it was so exciting seeing the seals). This really is a must do. Call for bookings: +61 3 5951 2800
