Food Scene
Not exactly a street market, more like a Food Hall, my absolute favourite is Skál, most of the other places there are pretty good too. Skál is probably my favourite stop for food and interesting drinks. They have a simple rustic nordic style menu for a very decent price. There isn´t a thing on the menu I haven´t tried and everything is good!

This is one of my guilty pleasures, I go there when I crave some "me time". The bookshop has a café on the top floor. Not fanciest coffee in town but so great because you can read new magazines and books while you enjoy your coffee.

Icelanders eat a lot of ice cream, also in the winter time. Most common are the Ice cream shops selling the white ice cream in bread cones often dipped in sweets and chocolate coating or Bragðarefur (ice cream with sweets of your choice) If you have a choice between these common types, choose Kjörís instead of Emmess ís. That is my advice to you. ;)

At Kjarvalsstaðir you can find the works of one of Iceland´s most famous painter, Jóhannes Kjarval. There is also always exhibition with contemporary art too. The building itself it pretty interesting, a good example of 70's nordic architecture with exposed concrete walls.

If you have kids they will for sure love this place. This little zoo has all the common farm animals and seals, foxes, reindeers, rabbits, birds etc. There is also an amusement park for kids, great too and next to that there is a very cute park great for picnics and walks.
