Our founder felt like Kalispell deserved something a little different, so he brought fresh sushi and teppanyaki flavor into town. Also known as hibachi, teppanyaki is a style of Japanese cuisine that’s cooked on an iron griddle. We combine that with our entertaining chefs to make an unforgettable experience for everyone who visits KOBE Steak & Sushi. After all, we believe some of the best memories are made over a great meal. Whether you want to unwind with some sake or indulge in our Crazy Dog sushi roll, we can’t wait to welcome you in.

Echo Lake Café was first established in 1960 by Dickie Conley and his sister, Betty. The restaurant had a few owners after the Conleys, and in 1996 Bob and Christi Young purchased it. The Youngs spent time fully renovating the building and completely revamping the brand. They used the same logo style and menu from Fire Sign Cafe, their first restaurant, which they owned from 1980-2020 to create the new Echo Lake Cafe. The couple reopened the restaurant in June of 1999. Since that day, Echo Lake Cafe has been a go-to spot for locals and tourists alike. If we can't find a product we like, we just make it ourselves!" This concept has fueled our menu for over 20 years. And is the reason we make so many items from scratch!

Once there were three of us, all new to the restaurant business. Karie dreamed of a small, comfortable restaurant where friends could gather and enjoy some honest home cooking. Dave fell in love with the Flathead Valley and wanted a business that would put him in the middle of Bigfork commerce. Carolyn thought Bigfork deserved a memorable place to have breakfast. We've now been here for over eight years. We, Dave and Carolyn, now own the restaurant. Karie has gone on to other adventures. And we've learned a lot about how to deal with the challenges of great food and fast, friendly service. We hope those who have been with us since the beginning appreciate what we've become and hope that those of you who are new enjoy what we are. Thank you for sharing a meal with us.

Restaurant and cars have always been our passion. When Willie came in for lunch 21 years ago, only to find out that i skipped work for an epic powder day on Big Mountain, he finally decided to ask me out. After we dated a couple of months, he took me to meet his best friend and mentor Grandpa Art. Grandpa gave me the grand tour, which included a trip to the old shed. He pulled back the dusty car cover to reveal a 1954 Desoto Powermaster. “She still runs great” he said, as he turned the key to prove it. Within a year, he was the best man at our wedding. Two years later, we packed our bags and moved to Portland, O.R. for job opportunities. I spent the next 17 years as a general manager for a high volume restaurant called Sweet Tomatoes, and Willie worked for BMW. We made some money, and built some hot rods, and saw our son graduate from the University of Oregon, and marry a fantastic lady. One of the hot rods we rebuilt was Grandpa Art’s ’54 Desoto. Willie came home and pulled it out of the same shed on his 40th birthday, to eventually turn it into a “rolling piece of Art”. After many years of being away from home, we wanted to come back to Kalispell, but nothing was ever right, despite constant searching. One day, a beer and wine license came on the market. I was so excited, but we had no building. Willie reminded me, “What about Forge?” Just two hours later, I was on the phone with the owners of this amazing blacksmith shop, and booking a flight to Kalispell. We already had a commercial Traeger Smoker and lots of experience with BBQ, so why not quit our jobs, sell our house, and move back home to open a barbecue restaurant in 45 days? The plan was insane, but the time was now. The easiest part was choosing the name Desoto Grill. Now we’re home, hot rods and all. We’re have a blast, making great food, and enjoying the company of our friends, both old and new.

Take a trip to the Emerald Isle without leaving the Flathead Valley. Since 2012, Brannigan’s has specialized in three things: authentic Irish fare, good drinks, and a lively pub atmosphere. This is Brannigan’s, not Bennigan’s! We’re a family owned mom and pop pub! Come meet your old friends and make new ones in our friendly neighborhood establishment – our customers come for the satisfying food and keep coming back for the friendly faces and the very best old-fashioned Irish experience. When you try our food, you’ll be tasting some family favorites passed through several generations from our namesake, Isabel Brannigan Rose – who settled in Dupuyer, Montana along the Rocky Mountain front, then moved to the North Fork after she married her husband several decades ago.

Located in the historic KM Building, Mercantile Steak brings back a classic dining experience to downtown Kalispell, Montana. Our roots date back to over a century when the Kalispell Mercantile anchored the Flathead Valley as the premier retailer of quality goods and merchandise. Montanans from near and far depended on “the Merc” for everything from tack and buggies to household staples and cooking supplies. Today, Mercantile Steak echoes that heritage and style with its original Tiffany-style lamps, its stained glass windows, and the copper-tinned ceiling. Our marble dining bar and the original rolling library ladder round out this classic Kalispell spot. The menu is also an instant classic anchored around top-grade aged beef, chops, and fresh fish daily. Call today for a reservation, we look forward to entertaining you. — The Gang at Mercantile Steak

During the late 1920s, several Whitefish residents, headed by D. P. Dedon, bought 104 acres of land west of Whitefish for $1600 to build a golf course. In those days money was hard to get, and course development became a slow process. These hard-working people had cleared the land for what was to become fairway number one and two as well as part of number three(present woods nine) when one of the local politicians came up with a program whereby grants could be received for municipalities to build emergency landing fields. The City then applied for and received the funding to build the golf course/landing field. The property owners donated the land to the County in 1933 which then transferred it to the City of Whitefish on January 15, 1934, with the stipulation it would become a golf course for local golfers and double as an emergency landing strip. Construction of the clubhouse or “administration building for a nin-hole airport” began in 1936. Using timbers from the surrounding forest, the lodge pole pines were crafted to create the crisscrossed beams overhead along with the walls and ceiling. The original clubhouse extended only to the far side of the bar and was completed in 1937. On August 3, 1939, the first airplane landed at the course causing considerable speculation about golfer safety. Planes continued to use the course into the early 1940s even during golf tournaments, but golf soon took priority. The course was still designated as an emergency landing field into the 50s and 60s. The City of Whitefish began operating the golf course, incurred debt, and lost money at the same time. In the 1940s the City considered closing the golf course, when local golfers incorporated the Whitefish Lake Golf Association and leased the course from the City, and also assumed the debt. From that time until the present the Whitefish Lake Golf Association has operated the course on a not-for-profit or break-even basis. Throughout all of the time it has taken to build the Whitefish Lake Golf Course into the only 36-hole complex in Montana, the Golf Association and its Board of Directors have always operated on a volunteer basis. All of the monies generated from the operations have been put back into course improvement, equipment, and other capital expenses or paid out to the City of Whitefish as Lease payments. The goal of the Association is to continue its cooperative relationship with the City of Whitefish while maintaining the highest quality golf facility at an affordable price for local golfers. An American Bar & Grill, offering casual and fine dining.

Swift Creek Café is a place of character, art, family and community. And it’s a restaurant that’s about more than just food, but about family. The Moreno Halphen family has been in the food and coffee industry for over 80 years, and their love and dedication to the craft is always evident, from the flavors in the menu to the décor of the Café itself. Their story began with their maternal grandmother, who founded Finca Don Bosco, a coffee estate on the Talamanca Range between Panama and Costa Rica. Sonny and Choly Moreno inherited this family business, and they, along with their four sons, elevated the estate’s coffee production both domestically and internationally. They created an outstanding product while always staying focused on their values: tradition, conservation, sustainability and respect for the land. In the early 1990s, Guillermo Moreno opened Café Don Bosco in Houston. This quaint, family-friendly neighborhood café served the Moreno family coffee, as well as breakfast and lunch. Less than a year after its opening, the Café received the “Best Hole in the Wall” honors. Today, the family tradition is being carried forward by Guillermo’s son, Christian, who has gained extensive culinary experience working with chefs both pastry and savory throughout Florida, Colorado, Minneapolis, and France. The Moreno family welcomes you to Swift Creek Café. They hope that, in taking a seat at their table, you share your own passion for great food, delicious coffee and welcoming community, and become a part of their extended culinary family.

For as long as any of us could remember, we have always wanted to start a "family business." We would have long discussions (enter the beers) about what kind of adventure we could carve out for ourselves and those we loved. We knew where we wanted to be (Lakeside), what we wanted to do (have fun bringing people together) and how we could do it (great food and awesome beer). Tamarack Brewing Company opened it’s doors in the summer of 2007, which is eons in the craft beer community. We brewed 380 barrels of beer in our first year of business; more than ten years later, we are up to 4,400. Tamarack in Missoula opened in 2011, serving the same great food and drink found in Lakeside. We are alive and kicking at Tamarack because of those that make its heart beat day in and day out...our customers and our super cool crew, better known as the "Tam Fam."

As Montanans we come from families where our love of the outdoors often begins with our parents. They drag us outside, hand us a fly rod or strap on our hiking boots, or skis, put us on a horse or mountain bike and say “this is amazing, you’re going to love this!” Our brewery is a celebration of that heritage which has been passed on to us and that we’re passing on to our children. A heritage we can all relate to in Montana. It’s a reflection of everyone’s special place outside…, everyone’s Sacred Waters. When our founder (Jordan) lost her mother to cancer, she decided to establish Sacred Waters Brewing Company as a way to keep celebrating her mom’s love of wild places and people. Located east of Kalispell in Flathead National Forest, Jewel Basin is known for its incredible hiking opportunities and landscapes. Covering almost 16,000 acres of natural land including almost 30 lakes, it’s a true hiker’s paradise. It also offers some stunning scenery without the crowds that come with Glacier, though you will need to have some experience spending time in the backcountry to truly enjoy it. One of my favorite hikes, Mount Aeneas, is located here. Heck, if you want to avoid the crowds, consider going off-trail and bushwhack towards some hidden lakes of the basin! For things to do near Kalispell, MT, it doesn’t get much better than Jewel Basin.

The first 2-level, human-sized wooden maze ever built in North America opened 7 miles south of the West Glacier entrance to Glacier National Park the summer of 1987. A few years later we added a unique 18-hole miniature golf course which we designed with novel obstacles, hole shapes, and water features. The next attraction added was a bumper boat pond with a fountain and electric boats that can squirt water at each other. Bankshot Basketball was built after that, and finally a deluxe go cart track completed the fun center in 1998. Since then, both the maze and the miniature golf course have been completely redesigned and rebuilt. Towers that you can actually climb up into were added in the maze, and the mini golf course now has an old mining site theme with a working sluice and water wheel. Over the years people from all over the world have been intrigued by our human-sized, 3-D puzzle. Many thousands have stopped to try it as they traveled to and from Glacier National Park. Our visitors have taken from 21 minutes to 5 hours to find their way through this amazing 2-level labyrinth!

The Bigfork Summer Playhouse was founded in 1960 by Dr. Firman ‘Bo’ Brown and his wife Margery Hunter Brown as a place for University of Montana theatre students to perform in the summer. In 1964, Brown hired Don Thomson as a technician and the following season, Don encouraged Jude (Judy) Irvin to join the BSP crew as the piano player. Don and Jude were married in the fall of 1965 and later acquired the theatre in 1968. While both of Don and Jude’s sons earned degrees in the entertainment business and have worked at BSP in past summers, the eldest, Brach, joined Don and Jude as one of the owners and producers of the Bigfork Summer Playhouse in 2001. In the early days of the Bigfork Summer Playhouse, the company ate group meals, rehearsed, and lived in the same place. There were no facilities to build scenery, nor extra storage of any kind. As a matter of fact, the building didn’t even belong to the Bigfork Summer Playhouse — it was a Community Hall owned by the Masons and the Eastern Star and seated approximately 200 people. The summer group would rent the facility and bring in the stage, risers, and seats for the audience. We’re pleased to say that, although the Bigfork Summer Playhouse still doesn’t own the building, as of 1988, it is housed in a 435 seat air-conditioned theater with great fly space, a spacious lobby (updated in 2009) that contains a concession area, and wonderfully comfortable continental style seating for hundreds of guests. Over the years that the Thomsons have owned the production company, they have worked to build numerous spaces off-site to accommodate production needs including a dormitory facility for the actors (updated and expanded in 2003); living quarters for the directors, technicians, and musicians; costume shop; scene shop; and rehearsal space.

Eagle Bend Golf Club is a 27-hole championship course located on the north shore of Flathead Lake. William Hull designed and built the original 18 holes. In 1995 the Nicklaus Design Group integrated the Nicklaus Nine to create the Eagle 9 and the Bear 9; our consecutive 18-hole course. Jack Nicklaus II recalls, “one of our primary concerns at Eagle Bend was working with the environment to protect the natural setting of the golf course. And I think what resulted is both a beautiful & challenging golf course which blends together very naturally with the environment.” The Osprey 9 completes our three distinct 9’s. Eagle Bend Golf Club is mountain recreation at its finest, located in the Swan Range of the Northern Rockies adjacent to Flathead Lake. Our golf club offers a combination of a full-service restaurant, an outstanding practice facility, sculpted fairways and excellent greens.

The Seli’š Ksanka Qlispe’ Dam is an iconic sight. It rises more than 200 feet on the lower Flathead River, holding back aqua blue waters and framed by rolling grassy hills and the snow-capped Mission Mountains, but it’s much more than just a landmark. The SKQ Dam supports recreation in Flathead Lake, prevents flooding around the region, generates electricity, and holds great cultural significance for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The dam is also the only one in the country owned solely by a Native American tribe.

To promote the game of baseball through establishing championship quality programs for fans, players, and staff alike. We will serve and take ownership of our inherent community responsibilities through civic presence and outreach. We will provide the Flathead Valley with a first-class, family friendly entertainment venue to call their own. The Range Riders organization will achieve these goals through exceptional leadership from its founding members. Hard work and dedication begin at the top, and through diligent effort and consistency, the program as a whole will rise from the ground up. Success in this mission is not optional, it is required. Those who stay will be rewarded with skills they previously did not possess or take ownership of. They will be champions. Who are the Range Riders? Inspired by early 20th-century outdoorsmen patrolling the 1.3 million acres that is now Glacier National Park, the name “Range Rider” has deep regional roots. These defenders of the wilderness protected and preserved the area from poachers, wildfires, and timber thieves. Their rough-and-tumble role and characteristic toughness influenced the creation of the Range Rider mascot, a mountain goat which can be found roaming throughout the higher elevations of Glacier National Park, and at Flathead Field!

Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey lives in a world of color. And she likes to paint that way as well. Growing up quite literally around the world, Cawdrey found early inspiration in patterns and colors from places she has lived as a child and teenager, ranging anywhere from Syria to Germany. Studying studio art in Paris for two years as a college student, Nancy became attuned to Old Master techniques and found her voice through painting. After living for some years abroad in England and Europe with her husband Steve, eventually they found themselves returning to the United States and settling down in Montana. Nancy discovered the medium of silk painting also on her travels, this time, in Hawaii. The propensity for vibrancy in the dyes and the looseness of the technique, close to the techniques of watercolor, captured Nancy. While a fairly novel medium, combining the subject matter of the west and the ancient art of silk painting, she has created a portfolio and style of painting that is wholly unique to her studio. In Northwestern Montana, glacial streams seep from the craggy peaks of Glacier, spiraling through great wide plains of Eastern Montana and the Dakotas, and eventually spill out into both the Pacific Ocean and the Missouri River. With these waters carving out the dramatic landscape of the Northern Rockies, Montana is a muse to any artist. Nancy finds inspiration from everywhere in the landscape. Bright red poppies and native flora fill her canvases just as much as wilder characters such as bears, moose, and mountain goats. Her silk paintings have become just as much of a fixture of the American Western. In 2020, Nancy was honored to launch a one-woman traveling museum exhibit titled “Forever Glacier” which focuses on the mammals native to Glacier National Park. The collection contains twenty-five large-format original silk paintings depicting Glacier’s variety of mammals, habitats, and landscapes. The exhibit’s inaugural show was hosted by the C.M. Russell Museum and later traveled to the prestigious Booth Western Art Museum. Nancy also teaches silk painting workshops multiple times a year. Since around 2010, she has led a workshop at Triple Creek Ranch in Darby, MT, a five-star resort and member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux. Nancy is a founding member of the Russell Skull Society of Artists and has regularly participated in The Russell: A Sale to Benefit the C.M. Russell Museum. She has shown at the National Cowboy Museum’s Small Works, Great Wonders show, the National Cowgirl Museum, the Gilcrease Museum, and various other shows across the country. In 2010, her art was selected to be an Official Glacier Park Centennial Art piece and Nancy became an Official Centennial Artist chosen by the Glacier National Park 2010 Centennial Committee. Honors include being the Featured Artist at the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival 30th Anniversary where Nancy’s painting set a new auction record, and numerous years as “People’s Choice” at the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale in Cody, Wyoming. Nancy’s work is included in the stellar “Night of Artists” show at the Briscoe Western Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas. Nancy is represented by Cawdrey Gallery in Whitefish, Montana; West Lives On Contemporary Gallery in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Big Horn Galleries in Cody, Wyoming and Tubac, Arizona; and the San Francisco Street Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Flathead Lake Charters was established in Woods Bay, Montana in 1979 by owner/guide Jeff Rach. Having fished the sandy bars, rocky shoreline and deep trenches of scenic Flathead Lake in northwest Montana for over 40 years, Jeff learned the migrating and feeding patterns of the famed Lake Trout and the Lake Superior Whitefish. Upon Jeff’s retirement in 2021, long time friend and guide Todd Noble purchased the outfit, and is continuing the Flathead Lake Charters tradition. Flathead Lake is the largest natural fresh water lake in the West, located just 40 miles south of Glacier National Park in the shadow of the Mission Mountains and the Bob Marshall Wilderness area. Come enjoy our Montana fishing charters, all of the amenities the Bigfork area has to offer in addition to fishing, such as boating, hiking, championship golf, fine dining, biking or horseback riding.
