Water sports and nature are the two flagship activities of my suburb. At the yacht club one can mingle with the locals, have a drink, watch regatta's, and join in if one wants to with either rowing, sailing, paddling or kiting.

It's a blue flag beach and it's where evreyone since the early 1900's have been learning to surf. Hence the iconic name "Surfer's Corner"

The six uniquely built bird hides will enchant bird watchers and nature lovers alike. And it's the ONLY city-based nature reserve that has big herbivores including hippopotamii and eland. There's also a species of erica from the fynbos floral kingdom that was almost extinct in the wild until it was discovered growing in the garden of a man in Belgium. The seeds were brought back, and Rondevlei is now the only place where you can see this erica. This reserve is also fine for walkers and joggers. There are lovely picnic benches and tables and clean ablute facilities. Oh, and best of all: entrance is FREE!
