Glacier and Wildlife Cruises
I took the “26 Glacier Cruise” out of Whittier with a couple of friends visiting from out of state in late summer 2021…it was great!! ...but you do need to be aware of the tunnel schedule (the tunnel alternates one way at a time and also supports train traffic).

This is another not to miss restaurant in Girdwood. They do not take reservations and can get pretty busy in the summer time. Best bet is midweek or timing it after the first tranche of dinner diners are done (about 6:30pm or 7pm)

A great beer selection and they typically will have at least one food truck!! Check out their social for current beer lists. They also offer growler fills and canned beer to go.
They are dog friendly in their outside seating areas! Parking can be limited during the summer...so I recommend walking, taking the GVT (Glacier Valley Transit--free local bus) or riding your bikes.
My beer recommendation: Hippy Speedball on Nitro

Whittier Tunnel Schedule

Note: tolls are round trip and paid for as you head into Whittier. If you have a passenger van that has been converted into an RV type vehicle...make sure you call it an RV and not a "passenger van" (if asked) because your toll jumps from $13 to $38 (this is advice given to me by the toll booth operator...we have a sprinter van).

Places to watch the Northern Lights in Girdwood (& area)
It's not uncommon to see the Northern Lights right from the private balcony in the condo. But here are some other great locations to check out:
- Moose Meadows (on the left as your drive towards the Resort Hotel)
- Head out to Alyeska Highway and then make a left on Seward Highway and head towards Twentymile River (it's about 11 miles from Girdwood).

-Winner Creek Trail (hand tram is not operational, so this is an out and back from both directions)
-Crow Pass Trail
-Virgin Falls (very short hike...but not advised if there is any snow or ice at all on the ground)
