City/town information

The centre of the village (Dorpsstraat) is about 2 kilometers south of the house. Exit the house to go left, follow the Amstel river, go straight at the traffic lights next to the bridge and after 300 meters there are some shops, grocery store (Plus), pharmacy, bakery, butcher, supermarket and ATM. Further into the village there's also a larger supermarket (Jumbo). At the other side of the Amstel river you will find the "strip", a small stretch of amazingly good restaurants with lovely view of the water.

Jalan-jalan

You can bike into Amsterdam from our house

Turn right when you leave the house and continue for about 4 km along the Amstel. When you get to the large highway bridge (A10 high way) crossing the Amstel, just before there is a steep path (walk with bike in hand) that goes up. Once you get up there, turn left to cross the Amstel River, then right to enter the city of Amsterdam. As an alternative you can take the small bike-ferry about halfway the house and the highway bridge. Boating times: May-August: every day 12:00-18:00 hrs, April and September: sat, sun + holidays 12:00-18:00. Across the water continue to follow the river up north

Driving into Amsterdam by car

For the scenic route, turn right as you leave the house and follow the river all the way until the end, where you face the second large highway bridge (A2 highway). Turn left to go underneath the bridge and directly right to get onto it. As you cross the river, you enter the south of the city. The faster route is to turn left leaving the house. Turn left at the traffic light, and second left onto the A2 highway direction Amsterdam.

Parking in Amsterdam

Parking in the Amsterdam city centre is rather costly, and the municipality check continuously during the day if parking fees are being paid. One option is to park at P+R (park and ride) car pars outside of the centre. You park your car for 8 euro per 24 hours. If you arrive after 10:00 or during the weekend you pay only 1 euro per 24 hours. These rates only apply if you then travel by public transport (e.g. tram or metro) to the city centre.
