The Historic Center of Quito is the largest heritage complex in Latin America, it contains around 130 monumental buildings and more than 5,000 properties registered as historical heritage; for this reason, it was declared a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1978. “The appointment was based on the Quito Historic Center as a whole, considered "sui generis" and harmonious for the time, where the actions of man and nature came together to create a transcendental work”.
