Food Scene

An Italian restaurant that adds some unusual selections to the standard Italian fare of pasta, pizza, risotto and meat and fish dishes – Haward’s Oysters from West Mersea in Essex, for example and the house speciality, spicy calamaretti. Enjoy them al fresco in the courtyard for a taste of summer.

London is such a huge city, with a mix of ethnicities, cultures, traditions and religions. So what to offer our customers when every kind of food has already been discovered? How to stand out from the crowd? How to make a difference? We are italians and food is central in our daily lives, we do love London and, our aim is to use our fine culinary art with a hint of international taste. Our cuisine is made of genuine ingredients, food is hand made to ensure freshness and according to many of our customer's feedback " it goes down a storm". We are keen on experimenting and we are opened to suggestions by our customers to let Maximo Bistrot take the shape they like the most.

Drinks & Nightlife

Tommyfield’s a good all-rounder, with enthusiastic and cheerful staff, a brief choice of proper real ales (Timothy Taylor Landlord and Sharp’s Doom Bar) and a wine list that’s decent too – including Spain’s most iconic style, red rioja. On our visit the place was buzzing with the kind of energy not seen since La Finca’s early days.

The Royal Vauxhall Tavern has been a gay venue since the Second World War, surviving both oppression and the great mainstreaming of Gay culture that saw it lose its biggest stars (including Lily Savage) to television. It's the spiritual heart of Vauxhall's gay village, and a busy midweek program packs it out every night for bingo, comedy, music or drag acts. On weekends, queues stretch all the way round the block for Duckie, the drag cabaret collective who've performed their cabaret/comedy/experimental theatre show everywhere from the Barbican to New York. Straights are very welcome, but the more delicate should be aware that there is a lot of audience participation.
