An intermittent stream enters the bay, and surface visibility is reduced during periods of freshwater intrusion.

Facilities include restrooms, picnic tables, showers, tennis courts, a roofed pavilion, parking lots, a camping area, and a lifeguard tower.

His first house was built near Puʻukoholā Heiau, and the ruins still stand protected within the park site
