The Red Train Carriage

The Red Train Carriage is a special place to stay next to the train tracks of The Swanage Railway. We believe it was built in about 1858 for GER as a 2nd class passenger carriage. It was just a shell when we got it, with it's original walls, doors, ceiling and floor, but the seating had been removed. There was only a few clues about its history in some of the doors and windows. We have saved as much of the original carriage as possible whilst making it a comfortable place to stay for a week.

1960s Railway Carriage in a country station

Travel in time and reconnect with nature at this unforgettable train carriage set in an old country railway station in rural Herefordshire, UK. True to the decade of when the carriage was built, it is comfortably furnished with mid-century pieces, 1960’s styled sofas, and with all modern facilities. The 'Saloon Coach' sits amidst the original railway embankments and with a stone bridge as a backdrop. Lined with trees and ferns, the green platform is frequently carpeted with wildflowers.

The views are out of this world and all viewable from the large glass doors so you can stay tucked up in bed or on the sofa in front of the fire, with great wifi, free access to our beautiful heate pool & sauna (located in the pool house), beautiful walks both from the carriage or a short drive to the coast path, pub lunches, sunsets, fairy lights and a romantic outdoor bath

Situated near Winchcombe, enjoy your very own private space opening out to amazing views . Watch the heritage steam train trundle along the tracks across the open fields or say hello to the sheep close by. Look out for deer, red kite, buzzards and listen out for our resident owl. Take a stroll to our lake where wildfowl frequent or continue onto one of the many footpaths over the hills through woodland to the ancient saxon town of Winchcombe. Ample parking available next to the wagon.

Little Owl is a One double bed converted railway carriage, on a small site of 4 unique holiday lets set within the grounds of a small working farm. Complete with a small kitchenette, with microwave, toaster, kettle and hot hob. A lounge and dining area and for the winter months a log burner to keep you cosy and warm! Formerly part of the Madgeon estate in the 1800s, this secluded spot gives you exclusive, sole use to relax and enjoy the view with your partner and 4 legged friends. There is easy access from the M5 and A303, providing a great base to explore the Blackdowns, Somerset countryside and attractions and the beautiful Jurassic coast.
