Place where WWII at 5.30 o'clock 01.09.1939 began. Open air museum with view point on Gdansk.

I recommend you walk 10 minutes to Długie Pobrzeże (the pier at the Motława river) and take a ferry to Westerplatte. It takes about an hour to get there but you travel through the docks and through the shipyard, seeing massive ships up close which I find amazing. Westerplatte has beaches and a WW2 memorial hill which you can climb and there's a good view. There are two types of ferries that go there, one looks like an old ship which is quite fun and unusual to travel on but it's also quite noisy with live music. The other type is just a normal commuter clipper boat, not as fun looking but arguably the views are better (fewer obstructions) and less noise. Timetables are printed at the pier.
