Beautiful building worth a visit. Symphonies are played on most (not all) Fridays at 9:00 pm and Sundays at Noon. Price: Ticket prices start at $150 pesos. Free to look around during the day. Hours: Open 9 am – 6 pm. Concert times vary, usually Friday nights and Sunday at Noon. Check the box office for current schedule and tickets. Location: Here at Calle 60 near Calle 57.

See something, anything, at this magnificent theater/opera house. The Yucatan Today magazine usually has information on the current events. Or you can stop by the theatre on your walk back from the Zocalo, to see what is showing. There are often free events put on by the city that are great to see too. The interior of the theater features a central cupula with a magnificent fresco called “La Alegoría de las Artes y de las Ciencias” (the allegory of the arts and sciences) painted by Italian Nicolás Alegreti. It's a must see!

Check it out; what a beautiful theater, even our grandchildren were impressed. In addition, Peon Contreras has a cafe/ restaurant on the south side of the building. Many tables are set up outside for you to sit and enjoy the evening breeze under a huge tree while sipping on a pina colada, enjoying a beer or a cappuccino. We have met many a good friends at this place.
