The Princely Fortress of Suceava built at the end of the 14th century near the Suceava medieval city had been the main residence of Moldavia’s rulers for almost 200 years. Today it is an important national historic monument. In 2016 in Suceava’s Fortress there was organized the first permanent exhibition which illustrates important themes of great interest for the public, such as the first and the most comprehensive presentation of the medieval weapons in Moldavia, of the heraldic symbols of the Moldavian rulers and aristocrats between the 14th and 17th century or Moldavia’s medieval Treasure. The multimedia systems with medieval historical themes and video projections with subjects about the history of the fortress represent an innovation concerning the exhibition in Romania.

Cetatea Sucevei, construità la sfârsitul secolului al XIV- lea in apropierea oraçului medieval Suceava, a fost principala resedintà a domnilor Moldovei timp de aproape 200 de ani, astazi un monument istoric de nivel national.
Sursă foto: © Yuliia Yurasova În orașul Suceava au existat două dintre cele mai importante cetăți medievale din Moldova. Este vorba despre Cetatea de Scaun a Sucevei și Cetatea Șcheia. Acestea datează de la sfârșitul secolului al XIV-lea și au fost ridicate de către domnitorul român Petru al II-lea Mușat, pentru a servi drept centre de apărare împotriva invaziei otomane. Cetatea de Scaun a Sucevei, cunoscută și ca Cetatea Sucevei, a fost inclusă pe lista monumentelor istorice din județul Suceava din anul 2004 și în urmă cu câțiva ani a intrat într-un proces de renovare. În prezent, aceasta poate fi vizitată de turiști. Puteți descoperi mai multe lucruri interesante despre acest obiectiv turistic de pe Wikipedia. În schimb, din Cetatea Șcheia, cunoscută și ca Cetatea din Apus, nu se mai pot observa decât niște ruine acoperite de pământ și iarbă.
