Housed in a former Nabisco box printing factory on the banks of the Hudson, the museum was designed with the help of artist Robert Irwin. Its collection of minimalist and land art includes exemplary works by Richard Serra, Walter de Maria, Louise Bourgeois, Gerhard Richter, and Donald Judd. Ask the gallery attendants—nicely!—to open the gate so you can walk right up to Heizer’s sculptures and see their scale. This works best on the weekends.
Tips dari warga lokal
Beacon, NY: Collection of art from the 1960s to the present situated on the banks of the Hudson River. Hit it on your way back to NYC, if you are going that way :)
Best minimalist museum in NY: Joseph Beuys, On Kawara, Andy Warhol, Richard Serra... Permanent collection as well as visiting artists. Plus, stroll through Beacon, an artsy little town in upstate New York. Train from Grand Central takes 1h 15 min.
DIA is one of my favorite museums in the area. If you love art-this is a must see!
A perfect one day get away from the city! Train trip along Hudson is really nice.
