Smith St Alimentari – one of the best. You’ll notice it’s filled with locals reading the paper and that’s part of its charm. People buy groceries from here and it’s super North-side in its post-modern understated style ft. succulents.

You can book ahead and there is also a rooftop bar (called ‘Upside) for a cocktail before! Get the cocktail called ‘A Rose By Any Other Name’.

Builder’s Arms – you have to go to this gastro pub. It’s incredible and is about to be changed to an Asian restaurant – controversial because they do my favourite dip in Melbourne their Cod Roe. Get it and thank me later. So the guy who owns it, Andrew McConnell, is the hot chef in Melbourne at the moment.
