If you fe.el like being "good" you can grab an awesome kale salad with salmon. The marathon burger ( a quinoa/blackbean burger) is my favorite when I'm feeling a non-beef meal. But the Woodstock burger is a classic and worth every calorie. The fries are hard to resist. Consistently good and completely local. I love Burger Up

A Nashville favorite, Martin's BBQ is always a favorite of guests for a true southern bbq experience. Don't be fooled—there's more to BBQ than pork! Get the smoked turkey. It's incredible.

This quirky little house turned restaurant is home to my favorite sushi in town. Some say they have the best burger in town but I can't confirm—I never say no to their sushi!

Sean Brock's Husk is a Nashville Treasure for a fine meal. You need reservations but their lunch is hard to beat and the food is just as amazing. I'd go for lunch!

Tandy Wilson recently won the James Beard Award and for good reason. City House should not be missed.
Ask questions, try a lot of things—that's my advice. Share the classic pork belly pizza, any of their variety of small dishes, and enjoy the experience.

As close to Italy as Nashville can get, the wood-fired pizzas are authentically good. The atmosphere is loud and casual with cafeteria style, grab-a-table and eat straight from the pizza pan. Bring your own bottle of wine!

Radnor is settled in the Oak Hill neighborhood just a few miles from my home. Head there for trail hiking, from easy to challenging trails or a walk alongside the lake on a paved path. Parking is tricky so be sure to enter from the Granny White entrance rather than Franklin Road.
