Treehouses at Candlelight Forest/Sophie's Roost

Sophie's Roost is one of two treehouses for rent in the Candlelight Forest, a Simpler Times resort 18 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. Sophie's Roost sleeps 6 and has a deck featuring our signature Canopy Kitchette for a unique outdoor grilling experience. The treehouse is professionally decorated by Sophie's of Chattanooga. The Candlelight Forest is central to all the famous Chattanooga attractions, in addition to offering fishing and canoeing on our own Lake Angela. Perched in a beautiful tree canopy, Sophie's Roost is built upon a sloping ridge which provides for very safe and easy access, as the entrance is at ground level. Tamara Dillard, the owner of Sophie's, a home decor shop located in the North Shore district of Chattanooga, professionally decorated Sophie's Roost, hence its name. Upon arrival, a short stroll through the woods (and after dark, under near-magical hanging moon lights) brings you to the front door of your home away from home. A queen bed nook with privacy curtain, an open living area, a full bath, a back porch, and many thoughtful nooks and crannies adorned with decorator surprises provide the downstairs living experience. Up a two-tiered loft ladder, 4 twin beds and a cute half bath await the more adventurous up above. Our own signature Canopy Kitchenette (TM) rounds out the experience. The back porch has a very simple kitchen that includes a stainless wash sink, concrete countertop, toaster, and a gas grill with side burner, all elegantly covered in the shade of an oversized umbrella. Dine upon the custom built-in fold-down table and antique wooden chairs. Sophie's Roost combines the greatest of all vacation experiences - cooking outdoors with shelter to boot, cozy spaces for family fun and romance, and a home base for all the excitement that awaits in this enchanting mountain and valley world only minutes from vibrant Chattanooga. The Candlelight Forest Resort, of which the treehouse is part, is comprised of 200 acres of preserve that includes two small mountain lakes for catch and release fishing, hiking trails, and a park with badminton, corn hole, a fire pit, and a historic marquee tent with family games. The Plucky Peacock is a new farm stand and country store from which our friendly Director of Recreation works to assist you in taking advantage of all our amenities. Television celebrity host Pete Nelson of Treehouse Masters also built a lovely recreational treehouse inside Candlelight Forest about 10 years ago, before he was famous! Guests have full access to their private Treehouse and all of Candlelight Forest, close to 200 acres of preserve including two small mountain lakes, a creek and many trails and amenities. We believe we have carved out a unique niche in the getaway/resort venue industry. We have a devoted team that wants to ensure you have an amazing time at Candlelight Forest, recreating and relaxing yourselves in a world that hearkens back to a simpler time. Our amenities are designed to bring families and loved ones into the great outdoors and closer to each other for the very best of memories. We have a great backdoor into downtown, with no traffic, through our quiet Chattanooga Valley. These accommodations are perfectly located to take in Chattanooga and the many surrounding attractions that abound nearby, including Cloudland Canyon State Park, Rock City, Ruby Falls, and The Chickamauga National Battlefield Park, all about 20 minutes away. Our staff is very eager to help you with ideas outside the gate including great eateries in Chattanooga as well as in the Valley and along Lookout Mountain. We have three other accommodations in the event you want to plan a getaway with friends or a family reunion. We welcome big groups and can help plan some special activities.

Tadpole Cabin at Creek Road Farm

Nestled atop a hill on 60 pastoral acres in Wildwood, Georgia, this charmingly rustic one room cabin makes for an ideal family basecamp for local adventures or a romantic couples getaway. The cabin is newly constructed from 150 year old barn timbers and surrounded by shady forests and open pastures. The rest of the world may feel far away, yet Tadpole is only minutes from downtown Chattanooga, Cloudland Canyon State Park and most other area attractions. The perfect escape from everyday life.

The Laurel Zome - Wood Fired Japanese Hot Tub

Fernwood Forest

This is a true log cabin in the woods adjoining 9,000 acres of Chattahoochee National Forest. The home is on a small creek in a valley by Taylor's Ridge with private trails to the top of the mountain. There is a large stone fireplace in the den. Though it is a rustic setting we have great WIFI and streaming 4K HDR TV. We have space and facilities for dog and horse owners. Cloudland Canyon, Jarrod's Place Bike Park, Dalton, GA, and Chattanooga, TN are nearby and great day time destinations.

Mountain's Edge by AAF, built in 2024, is right where you want to be! A cozy, stylish home overlooking the gorgeous views of the valley. While being just far enough away to enjoy the benefits of a quiet mountainous getaway, you're also 25 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, TN, where there is an abundance of amazing activities to partake in! It features a comfortable living space, stunning view with a double decker porch, hot tub, fire pit, and plenty of peace and quiet to relax and enjoy!

Wandering Gypsy Tiny House (Live A Little Chatt)

With the best view from our mountaintop tiny house retreat outside of Chattanooga, sits the Wandering Gypsy Tiny House! Designed by Emily Key, this funky cozy tiny house is built with all recycled materials. Enjoy breathtaking (hot tub) sunsets from the best views on the bluff of Lookout Mountain! Our secluded location is in close proximity to all of Chattanooga's coveted outdoor adventures! Rock City, Ruby Falls, and Cloud-land Canyon (Waterfall Hikes) are all within a 10 minute drive!

Cozy Cottage in the Cove

Quiet country get away in beautiful McLemore Cove Historic District. Country roads leads you to this comfortable one bedroom that sleeps four. Relax 20 minutes from town in any direction. Located between Pigeon Mountain and Lookout Mountain in north Georgia. The cottage offers full amenities and full kitchen. NO PETS PLEASE! I have a dog that shares the yards. This cottage is in the country! 2 lane curvy hilly roads. Mountain roads nearby. I can't do anything about the roads out here.

Fannie's Place

This tiny home is on the historic home site of Fannie Mennen and the Plum Nelly Clothesline Art Show. She even named the road. The home is brand new, artfully decorated and has 1 double bed, 1 bath, a sleeping loft with 2 twin beds, and a queen sleeper sofa. The view is from 2000 ft elevation and looks into the valley and across to the mountain again. There is civil war history on the property. There is a 100 ft drop so guests are asked to not stay here with young children.

Our Secluded Country Cabin is located just off I-59 and only one exit from the I-24 split near Trenton, GA. We’re conveniently located only 15 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, Cloudland Canyon State Park and Lake Nickajack! You will love the convenience if you’re traveling through, and there’s lots to do if you plan to stay a while.
