The spacious loft is the perfect place to relax after a day's sightseeing or travelling. The private entrance means the space is completely your own to relax and enjoy a bit of TV or film, or find out more about the area and it's history The main room has a comfortable king size bed, TV and seating area. It has a modern, crisp interior and good ecological credentials inc a wood pellet boiler and "passive" building design. It has a private drive and garden with a terrace looking directly onto the lakeland fells. Plenty to do nearby: Takin Tarn, Hadrian's Wall, Lakes and Dales, Rhegged Centre.

We are located less than 10 miles to Carlisle and a short drive to the M6 a gateway to Scotland, the lake district and Northumberland. Tweed mill dates back to the 1800's. It was originally an outbuilding to the Tweed Mill.

Cosy shepherds hut on Hadrian’s Wall

A basic and cosy shepherds hut a few minutes walk from the Hadrian’s Wall trail, tucked away on a tiny campsite (Camping at Banks), a no vehicles site where you can enjoy the sounds of nature. The hut has a wood burning stove, bottom sheets and pillows. You can hire sleeping bags from us. There is a compost loo and outside sink but no shower or electricity. The hut is suitable for those arriving by foot or bicycle - there is NO PARKING on the site. Single night stays welcome!

We are dog friendly! We are also child friendly! Ghyllie Cottage is a two bedroom, two bathroom cottage that is over 200 years old! Wetheral is just 3 miles from junction 42 on the M6 and the village has great amenities including a Village Shop and post office, Cafe, and a great pub just across the road! Wetheral Railway Station is a short walk from the cottage with regular trains to Carlisle and Newcastle. Easy access to Gretna Green, the Lake District, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
