On the top of the hill that dominates at Paros port and faces Delos, outside Parikia , you will find a sanctuary which is dedicated to Delian Apolloand to Artemis. It was built in the 5th century BC. It is caled Delion because it is facing the sacred island of Delos. The area surrounding Delion was also used throught ancient times for the fryktorias system , a communication method that used an organized network of flames to spread a message throughout large distance. In the Temple , there was the worship statue of Artemis. The statue is 3.10m in height , it dates back to 490-480 BC and it is housed at the atrium of the Archaeological Museum of Paros. On a clear day, many surrounding islands are visable and the view is worth the hike !
